Yes and City had a normal PL campaign did they?
What?

That has nothing to do with the point I made. 81 points is usually not enough to win the title, even if the champions do not break records, just have a "normal" season. We would have been 12 points behind Chelsea the season before.

The way his contract has been handled and his disrespect towards the club during negotiations has been a complete joke.

Disappointing that he gets away with it.

Disappointing all around.

Sign Fred wich is the right type of player we need in midfield, creative, pacey, technical ability and then we resign Fellaini? We were going in the right direction but it is like one step forward, two steps back it feels like.

As a player I don't mind him but since he talked shit about the club I can't stand him. No player is bigger than the club, except Fellaini apparently!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can’t believe you have to explain this. Amazing shifting of the goalposts.

Did they make it to the final? Infact did they make it to the semi’s? You act like the Sevilla team and manger haven’t changed from their Europa dominance.
Finished 7th in the league with -9 GD. Cracking side.
Vincenzo Montella got the chop too. Shocking coach. Still... Good enough to beat the shower of shite we served up in the last sixteen, though.

Can't believe people buy into this nonsense that Sevilla were very good against us, had the know how in European Competitions etc. They're are team that gets picked clean every fecking summer and last year they've lost Monchi and appointed shite managers and it showed.

Truth is -- we were fecking abysmal and Joses conduct during and after the tie could have got him the sack on its fecking own had the club had any self respect.

Well I can't believe this.

I actually don't have a huge problem with Fellaini the player. I know that his style of play isn't what we're about. However, I think there is a time and a place, when all else has failed, to bring on a Fellaini and cause chaos. Plus, I feel that Fellaini is unfairly seen as the living embodiment of the banter-era and thus gets more criticism that he sometime deserves.

However, the way that he's gone about this contract saga was disgraceful and the club needed to make a statement. They needed to withdraw the offer and make a statement. They needed to say that Manchester United will not be held to ransom by some average squad player.

81 points is more than enough to be challenging in a normal PL season. Stop pretending City's 100 points isnt an outlier. Had City had a normal PL title campaign (3-5 losses 5 draws) the title race would have been much tighter and our performance level would likely have been elevated.

The only thing I can take from this, is we are selling him for a fee, rather than letting him go. That's the plus side. 13m in January from wherever.
No one wanted him enough when he was on a free transfer so no one will pay anything for him, we would have to pay him to leave.

It’s a farcical situation that a player has even rewarded for not being good enough but there are much bigger problems than Fellaini, we wouldn’t have missed him if he left but there are other issues that need to be addressed first. Whether or not Jose does that will put Fellaini’s renewal into perspective.

Teams didn't want him on the wages he demanded when he was free. They aren't about to pay 13m plus the wages we're paying

I'm aware that it is somewhat irrational as Fellaini isn't actually our most useless player but even still, he is probably the player I most wanted to leave this summer. I'm quite genuinely dissapointed if we've extended his stay here.

Come on guy, we finished 2nd in two competitions last year, what more do you want?!
Personally, I want exciting football. I don't care if we concede 2 every game, so long as we go out to score 3+. It's what we did a lot in our last PL winning campaign. If next season we finish 4th with no trophies, I genuinely won't care so long as we get some football to enjoy. And actually I will be roaring for Mourinho to stay.

To put up with the shite we're offered up twice a week, it needs to be compensated by being the best. Mourinho is offering neither entertainment nor the big titles.

Not that long ago we could have J.Rodriguez for bag of chips but decided to drop interest and tolerate Fellaini for one more year.

This madness needs to end and hopefully it will very soon.
I agree, it's madness.

Very much doubt the board have bent over to Fellaini like some on here think - they probably offered a contact and he wanted to explore all his options before signing it. Nonetheless, it's crazy that we've kept such a limited player here for so long.

As someone brilliantly put it earlier in this thread, he's a dedicated lump. If we aspire to be a top team again we can't have room for a hoofball specialist. The fact that Fellaini has been more integral to Mourinho's tactical plans than Martial or Rashford is a damning indictment on our manager.

Still, hopefully they'll both be gone within a year so we can move on.

Some chap on twitter nicely summarised it.

Marouane Fellaini staying after publicly slating fans, club and management. He'll get a pay-rise, a contract that breaks the policy of the club and worst of all he'll stop us signing another CM to help improve the side.
Can't argue against any of that.

I follow United for many years and I can't even bring myself to hate some ex players majority of our fans hate (Di Maria is the only exception) let alone players still playing for us. But for some reason, I just can't stand Fellaini from day 1, and it's getting worse with years. We really need to get rid of this dud, we won't have a better chance than this.

Moving the goalposts now. Your original post said that total "normally wins you the PL title". That is simply not true.

feck sake!

Should be signing world class proven winners or young upcoming talent. Not this idiot who 1. Is shit 2. Publicly slagged of the club 3. is a gangly sack of shit!

Good at giving away fouls though!

All on Jose. Its good to value hardwork and effort but its like he blatantly ignores talent and technique when choosing between the two.

My only hope is that this being leaked...along with rumours of going for Son from Tottenham as some sort of news management, making the fans think - "ow god it can't get any worse" before they announce...

a) amazing transfer news! A world scoop that no-one saw coming...how do ya like them apples!
b) mildy disappointing such as reduced profits / climb-down over stadium renewal etc etc
c) even worse - part of a "disaster comes in three's" type scenario so getting all the bad news out on one day
d) the exciting new Floor Cleaning Partnership agreement at Old Trafford With Cilit Bang!

Is Jose just trolling us now?

Is Ed that out of touch with supporters?

Sorry, but when did he impart this grand effect on our play? did he do it in all of the 5 times he started for us in the prem? or the 11 sub appearances? The reason we would start lumping the ball to him anyway is that we were incapable of breaking teams down playing through the midfield. To place the problem at his door is laughable.
Yes our inability to pass well is not down to him, but his presence means that we will never try to improve our passing(at least under Mourinho), we will always keep subbing him in and try to hoof it to him.

Fellaini played less than 20% of our league season (although still managed 4 goals). He has little impact on our overall style of play over the season. Changing him for another £40m+ bench option isn't going to make us play like City.

Feck off. Was at least looking forward to no more fellaini for next season if we're having to put up with trash football all season. Great.

Why are people so upset? We may now have more transfer funds to get better players in for more urgent positions, and the transfer window has not closed yet so all the doom mongering seems excessive.
This is a good point.
There are other players at the club who in my opinion are better. They would be on lower salaries and have an upside for the future. If there are financial restraints then Fellaini could surely be replaced by many players around the world who would be free transfers?

That you need to be provided with evidence that points to Fellaini being a poor player and not United material is a concern.
The fact you aren't providing all this evidence of Fellaini costing us games suggest someone is talking bullshit. But if you followed the thread of conversation you'll know thats the point being discussed.
