Highest number of completed passes by any United player (6 more than Varane), best pass completion (91%), also 1 key pass, 2nd most successful tackles (3 compared to 4 from AWB), 2 dribbles.

A good performance.

KDB was in his pocket . The one moment he didn't mark KDB , he got into the box and crossed the ball which they scored

He’s a good squad player - never moans and does a job.
By the time Garnacho did that little give and go at the end, he was moving like me - ran himself into the ground today!

On a mission today and his aggression was a wonderful sight. Did we trigger an extra year on his contract?

Down south...somewhere
He tends to lose himself against the weaker opponents, I agee. On big matchdays though I find he turns up more often than not
That’s the frustrating part - we want opposition to fear seeing his name on the team sheet and it’s so odd how he can’t turn up against smaller teams but does so against city etc.

he’s earned his money today for sure though

Fred is our Park, he just need to follow ETH instructions. Fred can play an important role with his tenacious.

Was he asked to man mark KdB today?
Seemed like he was never further than 10 yards away from him. Outstanding performance today, this type of game suits him to a tee.

Best performance I’ve ever seen from him, specially in the first half.
Previously the best game I saw him play in was the victory over city under Ole, can't remember which one it was but he was immense from first to final minute. To be fair, city missed some chances that day, but today I thought it was a great team performance, with Fred an integral part.
These last few games Fred has shown much more control, and his passing has improved greatly, looks a much better player now under Ten Hag.

Park was miles better. He was consistent in big games and games against lower levels teams. Fred can only raise it in big games now and again.

He was good, in a game in which we hardly had any control of the ball and chased shadows. That's Fred's thing he is good in running and menacing opposition players and sometimes even tackling. Good decision by ETH to start him.

Why people keep saying ETH did wonders with Fred? He had patches of very good form before. He's now playing in a better team so it is not a surprise he's doing well.
If anything it was Ralph who worked wonders with him last season, he was about the only player to play well under Ralph.

We had plenty of control of the ball in the first half. Just not at our feet.

But Fred was good under Ole as well. Not for the whole time, he had ups and downs, but this form is hardly a surprise since whenever Fred got into the season, he was quite good. Its just people made a bad opinion on him because he looks turd when playing deep midfield. Every manager needs to see it himself apparently.

He was usually decent to good in tight games where he didn't need to think too much what to do with the ball. He is good at the simple stuff like moving the ball and harassing opposition, what always made him a better fit for midfield spot than say Pogba.

He was arguably our best player on the ball today. His passing was excellent and even under pressure.

Fred has suffered by playing half his Utd career along side a ln anonymous McTominay and an unreliable Pogba. In a functional midfield of Casemiro and Eriksen he can show he is definitely worth keeping.

He's been a loyal servant. I have never heard him slag off anyone or complain. Every team needs someone who is willing to sacrifice himself for the team -- playing different roles for the team.

Our modern-day Three lung Park. Always shows up for the big games.

I’ve been consistent in my support of Fred but recognise his limitations. Always said, play him in the right way he will be an integral part of the squad. It is not a coincidence that his best performances are against the best teams in Europe. Not coincidence either that many of those games he was arguably the Motm contender. Not suggesting he should be starting but the idea of not extending his contract is laughable. He is the perfect squad player….

If you think about it, who in the squad could have done what he did yesterday? A role that was critical to stopping City from doing what they do best. And then allow us to do what we do best -- transit rapidly forward.

Certainly not McTom? Not as good or mobile for sure. Erikson? Nope.

We don't really have an alternative besides Fred. He can do the same thing against Odegaard -- and Arsenal becomes constipated with sideways passing instead.

It’s not often you see Fred out of gas which goes to show the amount of recovery sprints he was making yesterday. There were a good few where he was covering distance at full pelt trying to get back at someone, cover someone else or get in position to help.

Just at the end there was a bit where he was trying to sprint but the pop just wasn’t there and he was like running in sand. However these are the games for Fred. He’s a man to come on and do a specific job for you. A Ji sun Park if you must.

Remember when mourinho beat Chelsea by sticking herrera on hazard and they couldn't create anything? That's what Fred did, and did it very well. Cas and Fred are nailed on afaic.

what a performance today! absolutely everywhere, didn’t give KDB a sniff. fantastic
Yeah that was the guy who bossed City in the Champions League for Shakhtar, can't afford to miss the Brazilian duo on Sunday but also risky not playing either against Palace

He was.

Weird to put our lack of control on Fred when he was the United player with the most passes and 91% passing accuracy which again was the best on the day.

Their free kick they scored came from Fred ducking underneath another aerial challenge , did it a good few times late on against city too putting us under unnecessary pressure.

Be quiet now, everybody’s in the McT thread, Fred is great nowadays despite being dogshit tonight as per usual.

Fred has been good since the World Cup.... tonight he wasnt good but he certainly isnt dogshit as per usual. Fine if you dont like him but you could try to be a little bit more objective.

That’s like 200 minutes of football, I am being pretty objective. He is getting much more leeway than most players tonight.
