not his biggest fan but today he played like he wanted a place for wednesday unlike say martial, but agree he seems more confindent going through the middle

Once again much better when he's central. He is dross as a winger, but when he can play infield he's much better.

He's another #10 to add to our collection.

I thought he was excellent. With all the younguns on the pitch, he played like a leader.

He is at his best when his energy levels are up. His game is more about pressing and movement, so he is wonderful when he has had a rest or is brought on as a sub. The problem with his approach is that, when asked to perform of few matches in a row, his energy levels dip and he is unable to be everywhere on the pitch, and he starts getting found out. He needs to work on aspects like crossing the ball and controlling the ball.

Was good yesterday and should definitely start on Wednesday.

I can see what you are saying but imo his biggest problem is when the players around him are a bit run down he cant adjust his game. He looks best in a high energy fast tempo team and when we play very similar lineups consecutively he struggles to adapt to the slower pace of his team mates

Love how he presented himself as a senior player with all the younger lads on. Took responsibility and that was brilliant to see. Shoe in to start the final and I know for a fact this is the team apart from maybe Smalling/Jones which will be Joses only call to make.

------------Romero-------------
Valencia Jones Blind Darmian
Herrera---Fellaini-----Pogba
Lingard---------------Mkhitaryan
------------Rashford--------------

I have a feeling bar Pogba no one who was involved yesterday will start on wednesday. I think the line-up will be the same as yours except Smalling for Jones and Mata for Lingard.

Had his one good game in 10 yesterday. Lets hope he plays like that in the final.

I think Lingard will start. Jose would of kept him on otherwise I think. Watching it I felt like Jose give both Lingard and Martial a chance to fight it out, and to be fair to Lingard he had the better game. Martial done himself no favours again which is frustrating to see.

That is also a good point. He does struggle in the situation you have described. I think he is more suited to the way Sir Alex used to set us up. Those teams used to go back and forth, defending for some time, then swiftly transitioning to an attack, mostly through the wings and always had lots of runners.

I think running and movement are his greatest strengths. He seems to suffer when those attributes cannot be applied, either because of his own depleted energy levels, or, as you said, if the opposition is constantly sitting back, or if he cannot find someone to link with, and some guile and craft is required to break teams up.

I think he is going to have an excellent time at the EL finals, though. He is made for such big occasions.

A big game player no doubt. I might take a punt on him to score first in the final

He might well start mate, but i just have a feeling with the line-up on sunday that anyone involved except Pogba won't be starting the final. I think Lingard and Martial will both be on the bench.

Yeah he always was. It'll be Mkhi, Rash and Lingard.

Not bad to have Mata come from the bench. He's a very good reader of the game so he has the ability to change it when he comes in.

Ajax 0:2 Man Utd
Again missed a great chance but good cameo IMO
Worked hard, defensively sound and had two brilliant flicks when under pressure.

Shame he couldn't put that chance away but Sanchez was a beast all night and ate up the ground on him.

Played well enough gave us some energy when we needed it, should have shot earlier with his chance but it didn't mean anything in the end.

I think he made a mistake by not getting his body across (tbh I think he was in a good position to shoot), but I think its because he wanted the shot with his right foot closer to the goal.

However good cameo, and gave us good energy up front.

Disappointed (for him) that he didn't score - but that was largely because of Sanchez - who made up an awful lot of ground.

If only it was at Wembley.

If it hadn't been a final I wouldn't have expected him to score that chance but, seeing as it was, I did. Would've been nice to keep his final record but hey-ho.

Provided some much needed energy in pressing them when he came on, and it's always nice to see a youth product play a part in a winning final.

Kew he won't score. My heartbeat didn't even increase when he was bearing down on the keeper.

Going to draw Hell for that video of his. Not sure what he was thinking posting the damn thing! Any other game, it would be fine. In the current circumstances, avoidable. The posting of it, mind.

It's how he should be used. Last 20/30 minutes to liven up the game with his pace. Coming on fresh when others are tired gives him a chance to perform to his best and contribute. Playing him from the start, when everyone is equally fresh, is seldom not a terrible idea because he rarely has any impact at all and seems to fade much, much faster than everyone else in terms of his ability to make an impression on a game.

He was fouled in the 1v1 but arguably should have taken the shot before that happened.

Yup. Wanted to be on top of the keeper before shooting. Didn't trust himself despite having a much clearer sight of goal than he did at Boro.

As I've said all season, if we had players who were dependable in 1v1 situations we might've won the league. Jesse bottled it.

Should have put that chance away but didnt quite have the legs to get properly away from the defender. Should have drilled it from further out when he realised he was being chased down.

Yeah was a stupid idea to release that. He really needs to be advised about the social media stuff as he seems to do it alot (West Ham away last season springs to mind etc).

Performance wise thought he was pretty decent when he came on. Should of scored that chance but hey the defence done well to make it back so quick.
