Did the role asked from him pretty well in first half, but pretty poor in the second on.

So which was it, was he absolutely god awful, or apparently our best player on the pitch that Spurs couldn't live with?

I'm leaning more towards another average performance from an average player, we'd be much better off getting a better player to play in his position.

Started very bright, faded but no need to slag him off though.

He makes us tick and was all over spurs in the first half. Also his chance was at a weird angle with several defenders in front of him.

Lacks quality. Always very good up until the final bit.

He tired a bit in the second half but really good pressing in the first half.

Lingard apparently offers nothing

What absolute nonsense.

The first goal was down to his interception & his first time pass back to Pogba which allowed him to play the first time ball in to Rashford.

If Lingard had spent any more time on the ball - that attack would be off because it would have allowed their defenders to track back.

Great player.

His appreciation will continue with managers here at United whilst the fans continue pretending to know everything about football.

Offers nothing. Missed great chance, fecked up couple of counters especially that pass to Martial. Second half looked lost on the pitch.
Exactly. He’s not even average. Well below it. Only defense of him is his running which is hilarious when you think about it. He’s afraid of having the ball in decisive moments under pressure.
Go on, admit it, you haven't got a fecking clue what you're watching have you ?

I'd suggest you watch darts, hit board(tick), get big scores until you need low scores(tick)

Rinse, repeat.....

Thought he had a good first half but second half was so wasteful on the ball and visibly tired. He'll have much better games.

Thought he was alright today, read the pass from Trippier then a nice ball to Martial for the Pogba chance. Should have pulled wide earlier when Rashford latched on to the Martial pass and he should have slipped Lukaku in twice but by that time he looked absolutly dead on his feet and looked like he was really struggiling. Didn’t even fell like he had really done that much running either, not by his normal standard.

Thought he played well. Worked hard and was also a part of some nice pieces of play especially that one in the second leading to the Pogshot.

Was good today, always is when being played more centrally. Kudos to OGS for switching to a diamond-formation. Did not just help Lingard but was a good choice against Spurs offensively in particular.

I get that some will never rate him and to an extent I can see why, but he's just as important to the way we play as Rashford and Martial. He does his job very effectively, he's intelligent and he's a very good link up player. His end product isn't great, but his all round game is better than he gets credit for. He's not a "sexy" option, but an effective one.

I thought he was fantastic.

He's not the best the best player to have when you are trying to unlock a deep defence, but his pressing and movement came in very handy in the first half and the start of the second half until Utd stopped playing.

Expected nothing less tbh.

He is very average as an overall footballer but very good at making runs and disrupting the enemy defense. If we can buy the same run vision and better footballer, we will be golden.

He had a good game today.
The tactics of the high press towards the six yard box and the swift counter attack worked well with him today.

It's fecking embarrassing how clueless some posters here are on what he does. As usual, world class movement, quick interchange, worked his arse off and pressed brilliantly. We don't look anywhere near as fluid when he isn't on the pitch.

Anyone but Rashford
His technical limitations can be infuriating. He's really poor when he has time to think about what to do with the ball, better playing on instinct. Was responsible for a few Spurs attacks when he needlessly gave it away. His movement is outstanding though and probably covers more distance than any other player.

Pressed well and it played a key part in the role, I think it's obvious he's not quite good enough long term to be a starter but to say he offers nothing is crazy, he's a good player with some limitations that stop him being a real top player.

He is a squad player and that is that. But today is not a game to criticize him. He was better at some things compared to his usual useless self in my humble opinion. Only time he looks comfortable with the ball at his feet is when he is going backwards, and that tells volumes about a player in his position.

This. He gave the ball away poorly before the substitution but he was running the show for most of the game and was immense. The agenda is real

They're just below average posters, with no particular skill sets. All they do is type a lot and very little else.
If we wish to be no.1 forum, we need to set our standards higher.
Maybe they should be newbies, but never first choice mains posters.
Can't stand all the childish stuff that they do offline either.

When it comes to being clinical in the final third this lad just doesn’t have it, hopefully Sánchez will be back for the next few games and we can see an actual 3 man attack who contribute going forwards

If he had a bit more technique he would be some player. His movement and football intelligence are fabulous.

If he could add consistent output, he would be great. As it stands, only Rashford is convincing with both, Martial lacks the off the ball stuff a bit, Lingard with end product.

He had a decent game, needed to come off sooner though. Was hilarious the way he gave the balls away carelessly.

Have to hand it to him, he doesn't have much talent really but he makes up a lot of it with effort and reading the game.

He is to Rashford and Martial what Park was to Rooney and Ronaldo.

It's even more embarrassing when some posters go on and on about his "world class movement" game after game after game in the absence of any goals or assists or key passes.

No need to slag him off today. He did the job he was asked to do by the Manager. He should have passed his chance to Martial instead of blazing it away though.

He done fine today, can't really criticise him. His running in the first half confused Spurs and was an asset. We all know (well most do) that he is very limited on the ball and shouldn't be starting every game, but games like today he shows his worth.
