Kind of a weird moan as well as it falls a week they have no Thurs football, just a reminder they are in the EL.
We've played thirteen 12:30 kick-offs after international breaks since Klopp arrived. The next highest team is Chelsea with six. Definitely something weird going on.

Absolutely crazy in a season where the scheduling should dramatically lessen our likelihood of playing these games we're on to have played every single 12:30 slot available after the break. We all recognise the scheduling of games is important, so he's well within his rights to be put out.

In fairness, they have had the 12.30 Saturday kick off after every single International break!
And? That's the BT slot.

BT can't pick them after the Europa midweeks. They could pick them after Carabao midweeks but they're always playing those on Wednesdays (since they have Thursday-Sunday the week before) so then he'd be moaning about playing the early kick-off on Saturday after playing Wednesday. That leaves you with the slot after the international break.

Goofy moans for the sake of it. For years they've had the perfect festive schedule with a game every 4-5 days, while all other teams have been playing twice in 48 hours and 3 games in 6 days. That's where the real injustice happens. Not when they have to play a whopping 3 hours before other teams on a Saturday after an international break.

City play on the Tuesday, so what's the alternative?

Liverpool don't play again until the Thursday.

I'd imagine the police have played a role in getting the City game kicking off at 12.30 on a Saturday.

Managers and players need to also understand the reason they get paid so much money is because of worldwide tv viewing and these times are required.

I'm sure if we went back to 3pm only and cut their wages by 80% they may have a different thing to moan about (although the amount of 12.30 games the scousers are getting is a bit bizarre in comparison to others)

In this instance it probably makes sense for the schedule. But if it was likely inevitable this time, surely some foresight should have been used when scheduling us to Wolves and Everton earlier in the season, two teams with no other commitments. Neither needed to be in this time slot.

Over the course of the season it's an obvious disadvantage to play in this timeslot so often and it's, for some reason, massively skewed against Liverpool.

You poor babies. They're making you play league games at weekends now. There's a definite agenda here. I'll make sure to play the world's smallest violin for you tonight :(

Is it a massive disadvantage? Liverpool beat Wolves and Everton and the following European games.

The trade off of playing first after the internationals is longer to rest/prepare for the midweek fixture.

Wolves could have been a Saturday 3pm, but would a couple of hours really be a difference maker?

Everton is always going to be televised, but other than making it the Saturday evening game, which is again a matter of a few hours, the alternative is a forced Sunday/Thursday/Sunday.

It's certainly a bit odd that Liverpool have had so many, I just don't buy that it's a huge disadvantage.

So Fergie arguing for an extra day's rest before a European game, which is exactly what the scheduling has given Liverpool, is the same thing?
They really are a deluded bunch. Playing early after an international break is an advantage because most your players don't play 2x90mins for their countries. The European countries also play their final match between Sunday-Tuesday so most of your squad is back reasonably early in the week. Playing early after the break means more preparation and rest for the games to follow.

These arguments about why Europa might be affecting it are actually somewhat convincing. So I take it back that it's crazy that they coincide. The problem is its not an anomaly that's began this season. We played this slot more often than Europa League teams when we were in the Champions League.

This season is actually an outlier. We've famously struggled in this time slot (lost every game last year, if I remember correctly), partly because most of our crucial attacking players are playing in other continents on the Thursday (it's not extra rest when you factor in internationals) and our attacking play is consistently shocking (could even see that against Everton, a game we won). Plus, we're frequently scheduled to play these away - we've played more away games in this timeslot than any other team has played games total - so there's immediate travelling that condenses the preparation time even more -

I don't have the figures for how teams in general do in this timeslot but it's historically been a bad one for Liverpool. Whether BT/TNT know that and schedule them accordingly I don't know.

There’s nothing like winning the first game of the weekend if you win. The rest of the weekend is relaxing after that.

How many of them were away games?

In general our record in early kick offs have been bad between 2009-2019 (quick estimation of 3 points lost on average each season early vs late) but as someone else said earlier there probably is somewhat of a tradeoff with more rest before the game after, and estimations is stil unfair due to the fact that earlier kickoffs is against tougher opponents in general (United and City etc.).

City on the other hand have been crushing early kickoffs between 2009-2019 with an estimated average of 87 points per season (70,7% wins) from early kickoffs compared to an average of 81,2 points taken per season in the same period.

Last season Liverpool drew 3 and lost 3 from early kick offs but won 4 out of 4 the season before. Variance should be a key word here I believe.

Anyway, our early kick off record after international breaks specifically have not been as poor as people think:

2017-18
Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool
Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United
Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

2018-19
Tottenham 1-2 Liverpool

2019-20
Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle

2020-21
Everton 2-2 Liverpool

2021-22
Watford 0-5 Liverpool
Liverpool 2-0 Watford

2022-23
Manchester City 4-1 Liverpool

2023-24
Wolves 1-3 Liverpool
Liverpool 2-0 Everton
Manchester City vs Liverpool

Klopp should save his breath for something more important than to whine over another early kickoff after internationals IMO. And money should be wagered on City to win, if anything.

cnut.
He will have such an epic meltdown one day and it will be glorious.

Klopp comes across as this nice guy with his ivory grin, but ask him questions he doesn’t like he will try and make a mockery of reporters/presenters.

I liked him originally but underneath the fascade is someone on the edge of lunacy
