Maybe a friend or someone who knew they left the kids alone. Someone who noticed the kids were not with them. It had to be someone familiar with the family maybe a guest. Close the the family not necessarily related but just someone who knows when the children were left alone.
So....pretty much based on nothing whatsoever..

So the new suspects are generic white males? That narrows it down a bit.
Well it did happen in the Algarve where most people are hispanic, so yes it does. It suggests that it was probably someone on holiday in the area. If you narrowed it down to all sorts of accomodation in couple of mile radius and checked who was staying in all the hotels and then drew up a short list matching that description, did back ground checks, DNA checks ect ect then you might get somewhere.

The parents are the ones who should be charged anyway.
They should have been charged with gross neglected, I agree with that. If it was a single mum from Peckham who did that she certainly would have been.

Yeah that's what I meant. Can't charge them with disappearing a child, so if there's no proper suspects, just do them for neglect.

They have made a fortune out of her disappearance. If they ever do find out what happened they will make even more from the movie and the sequels (Maddie The Return etc...)

I don’t for a moment suspect the parents, but they were totally irresponsible and failed in protecting their child and have milked the whole thing ever since. Their appearance on Oprah took the biscuit.

How come I have never heard of any of these kids -

' They describe him as being white, aged between 20 and 40, with short brown hair, clean shaven and of medium height and build.'

Okay then.

If you're asked to discuss it, you can only be truthful and say what you really feel. If you're right or wrong it doesn't matter, it's not like your personal opinion would hold any sway.

I personally have a gut feeling that the parents were involved. I think they sedated the child and left her alone so they could go out. I think they accidently overdosed her, panicked and hid her body. In the absence of any proof together with claims of a cover up by Portuguese authorities, it's actually hard for me to look elsewhere, tbh. I'd love to be proven wrong and for her to be found, alive, after being kidnapped for adoption or whatever but that isn't my gut feeling.

I presume its ok to laugh at your gut feeling.

Lets run with it for a moment though, one thing you might pose a possible answer to, how do two British tourists dispose of a body from a holiday resort in a foreign country and do it so well that not a trace is ever found? No record of them buying so much as a shovel, wait, maybe they used the kids plastic spades from the beach.

Thats before we go near the logic behind deciding the best way to move on from a world famous murder you have gotten away with is to work non stop, feck it, even write a book, to make sure the case stays in the public eye and is reinvestigated.

I've just seen that post. It has to be the most detailed gut feeling ever! How can it be hard for you to look anywhere else, when you have no proof of anything to back up your gut feeling in the first place? Also, as EP points out, it's a bit ridiculous too.

I think it's highly unlikely the parents would continue to make this so high profile as often as they do if they had anything to do with it.Though I suppose you could see it as since they whipped up such a huge frenzy at the start they have to keep up appearances to get away with it. Highly unlikely obviously.

I still think there's more to it than meets the eye and I very much doubt the police have taken their eye off the parents (nothing can be ruled out), but I just don't think it's that plausible as Eyepopper said.

Personally I think the poor little thing is dead. If she was kidnapped for any kind of child trade then I very much doubt they kept her alive once all this kicked up. If she was taken for, well we all know what other reasons, she'd be dead within hours. Obviously I hope I'm completely wrong.

Laugh away. I'd like nothing more than to be proven wrong. Also, as for hiding the body, how many missing people ever get found? They are all alive I presume? Oh, wait, it must be master criminals that get rid of all these missing people? Maybe it's a specialised gang responsible for all of them. As for keeping the case in the public eye, well it would be a bit fecking stupid if they didn't. I presume it's okay for me to be amused at your naivety?

Yes, every missing person has the same worldwide publicity as Madeleine McCann.

If they didn't stay in the public eye then where would all their riches come from? It makes sense to keep the wealth rolling; in for a penny, in for a pound and all that.

As for disposing the body, isn't it plausible that they just put it in a dumpster and lucked out when it was tossed before anyone found it? They needn't have been master criminals, just lucky.

Go ahead, I'd imagine most things amuse you.

I'm guessing that most of the people who go missing aren't the subject of one of the most high profile missing persons cases in the history of the world.

On the balance of probability I'd say she is long since dead, but also on the balance of probability I'd say if your gut feeling was true, that, considering the context, it would have been impossible for them to conceal what had happened so well from 2 separate investigations and the glare of the media, to the point that they are confident enough to work to keep the case open and write books about it. I don't think not writing a book about it would be considered stupid, and I think most people would be overly surprised if they chose to step out of the public eye, enough people seem to want them to any time they're in the press.

I'm assuming you've read the publicly available, audited accounts of their foundation yeah, I mean you wouldn't seriously buy into the bullshit that theory that they not only killed and got away with killing their child but that they are also getting away with living like kings on the proceeds of it, are you? I mean because you'd need to be really fecking dumb to buy into that sort of thing.

That's better. Isn't it easier when you make your points without being condescending? Good man.

Now, as for the book and high profile nature of the case, I'll admit it's highly unlikely they could get away with it for so long. Rational thought would dictate that it couldnt possibly be them. However, highly unlikely isn't impossible and a gut feeling is rarely ever rational.

I don't really know why I'm so convinced it's them, I just am. All I've done is share that feeling and how it may have played out.

So the theory thus far is that the McCann's sedated the child in order that they could go out partying, but accidentally overdosed her and ended up with a body on their hands. One of them, most likely the father, then drove and dumped the body as far away as was practical into a skip/bin which fortunately for them was then removed and tipped before the body was able to be found found. They then play the hysterical parents of a kidnapped child card and once the ball starts rolling find they're unable to ever back down from the story and as might be expected it becomes something of an obsession for them, living lives of celebrity and denial forevermore whilst the world searches for the truth which will never be found unless one day, overburdened with madness and guilt, the parents crack.

Is it my imagination, or was there always something about a small amount of unidentified blood on the window sill? I remember thinking early on the poor little thing climbed up to look out the window to see if she could see them and slipped. Then again there was all sorts of misinformation leaked at first.

Anyway, your theory is indeed plausible and the police most certainly won't have ruled them out like some people want to.

I think he's just taking the piss, tbh. Saying that, people are acting like parents have never killed their kid before.

No...people are focusing on the unique context of this case and applying sense. You yourself, just a couple posts ago, said it was highly unlikely and rationally it couldn't possibly be the parents.

In that case, apologies to you.

Anyways, whether they directly had anything to do with her disappearance or not, why have they not been prosecuted for leaving a baby unattended and at the very least be held accountable for her going missing?

If that was Tracy from a council estate, the cps would be all over her and her remaining children taken into care.

I did, what is rational about this case though?
I mean, who leaves a kid that age unattended, in a foreign country? Why is there not one single trace of the child? Why so many Portuguese journalists claiming cover up?
The post I was making that although unlikely, it's most definitely not impossible.

Well that's bullshit aswell, it would take a hell of a lot more than leaving your kids in a room asleep for a few hours while you sat a hundred yards away having dinner before the state would take kids into care.

Wasn't there something at one point about the scent of blood/death (death sounds weird, but I think that's what the sniffer dogs detect) being picked up in their hire car, or was that a load of shite too?

Sedated in a hotel room, in a different country, while you go out to get pissed? How do you know they were only gonna be gone for a few hours?

I'll say this, if you can get away with leaving babies unattended, while you go out to get drunk, there is certainly something wrong with social services and maybe that's part of the reason so many kids suffer physical abuse etc. if the cps is so lax.
