He's put in some really proffesional performances of late. Nothing spectacular but clearly does exactly what Jose wanta from him.

Another good match. Was constantly in front of our back four, disrupting their play and made simple passes when he had the ball, didn't complicate. Got the job done.

Very good game from him and I think Mourinho will keep him for longer at the club because his game nullifies the threat from teams like Burnley.

Was in a different role today. Again, this is the advantage of having someone like Fellaini.

Normally plays the box to box role, but was asked to just sit in front the back four today, due to Burnley's long ball style, and he more or less won everything in the air.

Played a very important part in nullifying Burnley today. They had nothing.

Very good performance.

I like Fellaini, there I said it!

He follows instructions well and does offer us that extra physicality when needed. I really think Blind would have had a much harder time of things today without his help.

I've been impressed and I'm actually glad he is an option for us, especially in those kinds of situations.

Yeah, he was a vital part of that very good defensive performance.

Mourinho deploys him cleverly nowadays and it pays off. He's been playing really well in a period of our season where we sorely need it. Long may it continue.

I guess the fact that they didn't score, nor did they create much, meant that Fellaini was effective, though I was surprised how many duels he lost. Sensible selection given Burnley's approach.

He was man marking Barnes, and did a good job of it after being clumsy in the opening few minutes.

Basically, in the past three matches he played three different roles: sitting just in front of the defenders (Burnely), a bit more advanced midfield position with the aim to break attacks (Chelsea) and a target man whose job is to win long balls and bring them down to his teammates (Anderlecht). That's a great option to have in the squad.

Clever use of him today. I don't think it's a regular feature of our play, neither do I want it to me, but Burnley away is a tough knock and Fellaini limited their knock downs and won the ball well. Good game.

Really provided the solidity where it mattered today. Most impressed I've ever been by him. Do think we need improvements all round when it comes to technique and ball control, including in his position, but if he carries on and is only used like that I'd be happy for him to be a squad option when needed.

Definitely is. Not many players who have such versatility. Very good option to have, as you said.

He gave away a lot of fouls and was poor on the ball but won the aerial duels he was in there for in front of Blind.

Very good today, tho he was making way too many unnecessary tackles in the first half.

These types of games against lesser opposition he can do the job well.

I hope more and more supporters see what he can do for the team.
As someone said 3 different roles in a week and 3 wins for the team and the club.
Some of us should show some more respect for a player, Fellaini, of ours

Think Thursday will be one of the biggest games at United he'll have too have.

If Pogba isn't 100%, we need Fellaini to get physical and bully them. City have a very soft side to them nowadays.

Thats fair. And TBF to Fellaini, this is probably his best run of games for us since the end of LVGs first season

Losing to Comeback Winning!
Now that we have Bailly and Blind playing as CBs, potentially Tuanzebe will too, against a lot of set-piece threatening teams, Jose would have to play Fellaini. Bailly is still inconsistent especially against crosses, and Blind too have its limitations. Not a fan of him, but I guess it make sense.

Okay performance last game. Important tactical role. Mostly defending and helping the CBs.

Nice.

1st role is defensive - to negate crosses and set-piece helping the CBs, also to won long balls from opponents and breaking attacks with his physicality. Have to be very disciplined for this to work. He's not a good tackler isn't he haha rewarded a lot of easy free kicks to Burnley last game early half, but gradually improves.

2nd role is more attacking, more of a combination with the 3rd - receiving long balls from keepers or defenders, bringing it down for other players starting attacks quickly, with breaking attacks upfield, and using physicality in the penalty box to meet crosses and score.

Mourinho mainly utilised Fellaini with either of those roles. LVG at many times used Fellaini for merely set-piece only in attacks and defence.

Limited but is a Specialist player. Very useful in variations of team plans. It's better to have this option than not. Important and good squad player imo, doesn't complain and follow instructions - professional that way. It's not a surprise why a lot of managers like and play him often.

With the injuries to centre backs he's going to be really important for the rest of the season. With Blind at centre back Fellaini helps him out a lot being so big.
I really like Fellaini, I think he'll continue to be a really good professional who can do a job as long as Mourinho is here.

Mourinho said Fellaini basically acted as a CB today, hopefully we never see him officially as one in our lives

He's had a good season overall, very happy for him.
Yup. He's made a few high profile mistakes and he does have an awkward style but he's a good player and he's been one of our better performers overall this season. He never hides either. It's a pity there is a mistake in him because the fans will always jump on it with him. Clowns booing him at OT

He will be very useful against City as an outlet for long balls so that we can bypass their pressing. They won't be able to handle his physicality.

Solid, as per. Hope he plays the same role Thursday.

For me, he 100% has the attitude to play for this club. His mentality is second to none, Jose tells him to do something, he does it.

This is the problem with him being any more than a player for those kind of games - against smaller but tough teams. He did very well, but more technically apt players cause him bigger problems and he gives more dangerous fouls away. And he's generally not good enough with the ball but it's not a major issue against teams like that.

I always felt he was given a bit of a rough time on here. He isn't and will never be world class but as a physical central midfield option he often does a very good job.

Definitely has a place in the squad over the next few seasons in my opinion

Ok, so... do we like this guy again, or...? Our fans just can't seem to decide. People loathed him just a few short months ago.

It's not like it's his first good spell in his 4 years here, but his limitations as a players has been obvious throughout.

I have no problem with him as a squad player as long as he's not used as a plan b while we're losing, forcing us to play extinct football by hoofing the ball to his hair aimlessly. if he's not used in this way and as a midfielder for rotation then I'm fine with having him as a squad player but definitely not a regular starter or a player used in every game.

But I still prefer selling him in summer if a good offer came for him. We can find much better solutions for the midfield than him in the marker and that's for sure.
