European football really seems to screw over smaller overachieving clubs more than it helps them. They overachieved last year, only scored 36 goals. Very, very limited side and now it's catching up with them.

They made three signings and their squad still isn't that big.True, didn't they sign any extra players? They knew they would have extra games to play.
Yup - reckon they could be in a bit of bother this season.Newcastle are a bit shit aren't they.
Gudmundsson has gone off for Burnley and gone straight down the tunnel, so that small squad is being tested even more. They made three signings and their squad still isn't that big.
Benitez has them going from a back 5, to a back 6, to a back 7 the closer Chelsea gets to goal.Newcastle are a bit shit aren't they.
They'll probably be out of Europe next weekEuropean football really seems to screw over smaller overachieving clubs more than it helps them.
Dyche hasn't really been rotating. Seems like he's taking the EL seriously and probably thinks he can just keep Burnley up with what he has. They're in danger of getting knocked out next Thursday anyway, Burnley are losing 2-1 to Olympiacos. They started their season in July, depends if he is rotating his squad or not as well. Some managers don't.
Still trying to prove he's capable of competing with Jose tacticallyBenitez has them going from a back 5, to a back 6, to a back 7 the closer Chelsea gets to goal.
Think it's 3-1.Dyche hasn't really been rotating. Seems like he's taking the EL seriously and probably thinks he can just keep Burnley up with what he has. They're in danger of getting knocked out next Thursday anyway, Burnley are losing 2-1 to Olympiacos.
Theyll be fine probably. Benitez as much as we all love to hate him, is far too good a manager for relegation fodder so they'll be safe.Newcastle are a bit shit aren't they.
The radio were saying there were rumours that Rafa and Lascelles has a bust up in training over him changing to a back three. Think Newcastle miss him and Shelvey.Still trying to prove he's capable of competing with Jose tactically
Might be for the best. I’ve grown to respect them and would hate to see them relegated for taking a competition seriously. They'll probably be out of Europe next week
He’s definitely pulled out the double decker today.Still trying to prove he's capable of competing with Jose tactically
Ah so it is. It's probably best for them to play a 2nd team on Thursday and concentrate on the league.Think it's 3-1.
Newcastle fans are fed up with Ashley and he's been sucking the passion out of that club for years. Their away support is usually brilliant though.i know there's not much to shout about here, but for a fanbase that's so lauded, the atmosphere at St James Park is regularly shite imo
Sounds like us.Newcastle fans are fed up with Ashley and he's been sucking the passion out of that club for years. Their away support is usually brilliant though.
I'm not surprised he's a poppyshow - where did he find £90mil to buy the House of Fraser but won't spend any money on players?Newcastle fans are fed up with Ashley and he's been sucking the passion out of that club for years. Their away support is usually brilliant though.
Most teams away support is great tbh. No group better than United's away support. It's just you always hear about how great their fans are and how they get behind their team at home, etc. I don't get that feeling when i watch them. Most of the time it's pretty dead there.Newcastle fans are fed up with Ashley and he's been sucking the passion out of that club for years. Their away support is usually brilliant though.
Doesn't rate him imo, he's so inconsistent, was pretty dreadful pre season end product just woeful at times. He can run a lot though and got a decent attitude. More useful as a wing back.Is Moses injured or does Sarri just not rate him?
Tbf this is Van Gaal-esque so far. Bavent created anything despite the possession.Chelsea's players moving through the lines all over the place, something we hardly ever see with us.
Could be a target for that rich cousin of Sheikh Mansour who recently bid for Liverpool. Wonder why he's not considering Newcastle, they are a decent sized club.Newcastle fans are fed up with Ashley and he's been sucking the passion out of that club for years. Gotcha. I was wondering why Azpi was out at right back.Doesn't rate him imo, he's so inconsistent, was pretty dreadful pre season end product just woeful at times. He can run a lot though and got a decent attitude. More useful as a wing back.
We've got better wingers, he's probably 4th choice now.
I'm surprised they haven't been bought a sugar daddy yet.Could be a target for that rich cousin of Sheikh Mansour who recently bid for Liverpool. Wonder why he's not considering Newcastle, they are a decent sized club.
He's an absolute joke.I'm not surprised he's a poppyshow - where did he find £90mil to buy the House of Fraser but won't spend any money on players?
He does. At Bilbao it was always Kepa.I thought Chelsea's keeper went by kepa. Haven't heard anyone refer to him by his surname before.
Oh wow that escalated quickly, Dyche must be having kittens.Mitrovic has got another. Now 3-1.
Fair enough, but there has been times where their players are moving about all over the placeTbf this is Van Gaal-esque so far. Bavent created anything despite the possession.
