think everyone is being way too harsh on @Camilo. all he said was that feel 'terrified' is an extreme reaction.

some babies die of cancer. does that mean potential parents should be terrified of their kid dying from it too?
air planes sometimes crash. does that mean we would accept being terrified of flying as acceptable behaviour?

you can find anomalies like those you listed in pretty much everything in life. at the end of the day, for the VAST majority of people, we all have nothing to be terrified about.

however not being terrified doesn't mean you don't still isolate, wash hands, and help ensure the NHS isn't stretched even more than is necessary though. theres a lot of people who are already genuinely afraid and rightfully so, but i agree with Camilo it doesn't serve any benefit in adding more fear mongering to an already extreme scenario we're all living.
Babies don't die of cancer because Terry had to be a stubborn twat and ignore the public health warnings not to swan off down the pub to add an extra beer belly to the five he already has.

Airplanes don't crash because Dave, who has "Love Island" in his Interests on Facebook and still has photos of Jordan in his shed despite being married for 8 years to Maggie the School Bike, decided that he wasn't going to be told what to do by some guys in suits because "it's only the flu" so he took the family to the Peak District for the weekend, stopping off at Tesco on the way home to buy more 20% fat mine to add to the collection of twenty packs he's already got in his freezer.

People are being idiots. They're ignoring not just basic decency but common fecking sense. Sometimes extreme indifference requires a response of extreme warning.

BA have specifically said they don't want a bailout as they have 9bn anyway so don't need it. Said the other airlines shouldn't get a bailout as its their own fault if they don't have the funds like they do. One way to get rid of the competition.

Btw, these same airlines are the ones who up prices when school holidays are about, up their prices during world cups. Taking what they can, and then asking for more. Absolute wankers.

Feel sorry for their staff, but the country shouldn't be bailing them this time.
Well in the US, looks like they're going to get some sort of taxpayer funded bailout.

Probably because numerous people haven't had their other mental releases taken away from them, football, traveling, socialising etc.

Also windows don't cut it and a garden no, I'm on a first floor flat.

Until they get let out and numerous of them are a shadow of their former selves.

I know three people in Italy and two are going of their head and the other is seriously concerned his brother is going the same way.
Theres a big difference between being a bit bored and turning suicidal.

People are bored and a bit stir crazy but they realise what we are facing here and just get on with it, and communities are being created in the midst of everything. You're overreacting hugely here. Maybe if we are locked inside for 6 months you might have a point, but not after 6 weeks.

I'm not fear mongering. I'm stating the truth. Too many people are underestimating this. The list that I've comprised there accounts for hundred's of thousands of people. I'm not denying that a majority of people have nothing to be terrified about, but it's important people put their 'Well, I'll be ok, so what's the big deal?' attitude to one side and grasp the potential consequences of this. People have behaved like twats this weekend all around the country.

The comparisons you've described aren't fair to a growing pandemic with infections that increase the more people don't comply with the rules. You can't catch cancer from some arsehole who's decided to think they're beyond the rules.
it wasn't your post, it was the original post using the word 'terrifying'. i completely agree that no one should have a 'we'll be ok, so what's the big deal' attitude. and i completely agree people have been behaving like twats this weekend. as i said, everyone should be isolating. but we don't have to be terrified doing it.

This is the serious, stark message we should have had 10 days ago.

It’s extremely draconian measures, but it’s absolutely essential. Hopefully we see results over the coming weeks.

But does this not mean I can exercise all day on my own outside all day? (I do that when really down like run and then walk for hours).

Public: why didn't we lockdown 2 weeks ago?
Boris: mmmffmmm

The fact is, Rishi Sunak said we've taken 'unprecedented steps' but we're behind everyone else at this stage. A full lockdown should've been enforced ages ago to contain the spread, like many other countries did at this stage.

Also, they can't force employers to keep staff on. I have to admit the funding they're providing is very un-Tory like and dare I say it remarkably socialist - but if this goes on for up to a year then small employers can't be expected to keep staff on even with the support.

Finally, listening to the PM now we're taking the necessary steps - but it could prove to be too late. A mass testing is needed.

Ffs it's a live recording from his base on the Moon, of course it's not going to be perfect.
Thought they said you only need to be 2 meters apart? Do I need to finish building my rocket?

Absolutely the right decision and too late in my opinion. I’m glad they’re allowing exercise though and I hope people don’t abuse it.
