I watched A New Hope again the other day for the first time in ages.

It's still very watchable and has a lot of great/memorablle moments, but if it was released today itd get absolutey slated! THe bit where Vader gets taken out of the equation because one of his own pilots goes "look out" and then just flies into him for absolutely no reason  ...the whole plot with the Deathstar as well.

Also some of the scenes just made me burst out laughing. Like when Obi Wan vanishes and Vader starts prodding his cloak with his foot  ...but yeah even with the stupidity and datedness of the way some of it is acted/portrayed, it's still surprisingly enjoyable. Just makes it weirder how the sequel prequels managed to be so awful.

Just popped in here to say spoilers are appearing in the comments section of Youtube and a lot of movie sites. Probably best to stay away from any comments section. So many saddos out there.

Was it the latest version? The modified high pitched scream Obi Wan makes to scare off the Tusken Raiders is my all time funniest Star Wars moment. Sounds like a parody.

I've never actually seen the original, untouched versions. I don't think they've ever been released, have they?

Wouldn't surprise me if some people will leave spoilers in the comments section of random videos of nothing to do with Star Wars.

Funnily enough I was flicking about on an app on my firestick the other night and came across the 'de-specialised' editions of the original trilogy. Assume these are the films you are looking for....

They used to be on the telly and such. I'm sure there's still some copies floating around.

Just finished VI. I mean, ugh, look at this travesty :D

Oh god that is horrible. So much stuff wrong with that but I've just noticed he's wearing an outfit we've never seen him in before.

Yep. Someone told me they're on a Collider article that has nothing to do with Star Wars. I'm just going off comment sections and all movie related sites until I see it. Worst part is it's releasing a week later where I am; if there's big twists or shocks it's going to be hard to avoid.

I've got a lovely dose of manflu and I've decided to watch Return Of The Jedi to pass the time.. yeesh, I didn't realise how much shitty CGI Lucas had crammed into it. It is revolting.

This popped up on my facebook then. This sounds like a labour of love:

Dude did it off his own bat for the love of the movies.

Nah. Seem em enough times. I might try and power through them before I go to the new one next week. But probably not. Last time I watched new hope I got bored half way through.
I struggled to watch the one I watched due all that new crap. It really, really irked me seeing all this rubbish CGI.

I bloody loved it. I haven't been letting hype get to me though. Barely watched the trailer.
Aside from the mirror of the first movie that's already been mentioned, I thought it was funny how there isn't a single recognised jedi in it.

I couldn't tell you much about Star Wars. I think I watched one of them once and don't think I liked it all that much. Nowadays I can't remember if I saw more of them or just so many spoofs and references in popular culture that I know the gist of the story.

That said, I went to see the new one tonight and thought it was excellent. Obviously I could tell there were references I didn't understand but as a film on it's own, it's bloody good.

Also never seen anything like the hype at it. There are hundreds of cinemas in Singapore and our local would be far from the biggest. Yet they two showings (one in 2D, one in 3D) at midnight tonight, two showings at 00:10 and another showing (2D in Chinese) at 00:20. We booked online yesterday but the queues when we got there were insane. I went out to change my 3D glasses just before the film started at around 00:15 and there were still about 200 people in the lobby complaining because there were no more seats!

I'm used to the 2004 versions more than anything, and to an extent the 1997 ones. So anything else would likely be just as strange for me as the new ones were to the older guys.

I rewatched ROTJ yesterday, and while it made sense to cut out the original guy because there's no movie in which Anakin looks like him, I noticed that he just looks so awkward, to the side. Obi-Wan gives Yoda a tap on the shoulder, and Yoda looks to Obi-Wan, with both seemingly proud of Luke and the achievements of the rebellion. They don't really acknowledge Anakin though, which is probably kind of understandable considering he murdered one of them and destroyed their livelihood, but it just feels a bit weird.

It'd make more sense if they had Anakin there in his Vader form from the end...I mean, Obi-Wan and Yoda appear as they died. Unless Jedi heaven has a feature where you get to pick how you look. Living for an eternity as a burned Vader would probably be kind of uncomfortable, admittedly.

I believe the logic here is that Anakin "died" the day he joined the dark side and became Vader. That's why he appears like that - the way he looked on the day of his "death".

It still looks ridiculous though. They all do, to be fair. They should've never have had that scene, in the first place.

By that logic Vader "died" when he saved Luke and killed the emperor, no?

I know I'm not exactly the best person to chime in here, but old cast fates aside, I don't really get the whole spoiler paranoia. Surely everyone knows what's going to happen, right? It's gonna be about an unremarkable loner who discovers they're special and meets up with a wise-cracking outcast to join a rag-tag resistance and take down a Nazi allegory. I mean, you know that, don't you? Just as you know it's going to end with the good guys winning a small but ultimately inconclusive victory, then continue with them taking some pyrrhic hits in the "dark" Breaking Bad & Looper guy directed sequel, before finally triumphing in a big feel good reverential cheese fest from the Jurassic World guy.

It's Star Wars. Only this ones gonna have a shit load of lens flare.

I want to watch this without suffering any spoilers. I'll go to the cinema to see it soon, but that might be another week away yet. On an entirely unrelated note, are there any of those horrible websites where it is being streamed already?

When anyone's seen it can you give us a score out of 10? No review or anything I just want to see the general consensus.

Why wasn't Obi-Wan's ghost relentlessly fecking with Vader? Like putting him off when he was flying about or distracting him on his commute to work?
