I really want to change my pick, and no it's not a keeper
I completely missed @harms ' post . I guess if he's honest, then I know all four picks. I'm probably wrong with everything though. as usualYep - could have. Depends on how honest harms is, I suppose. We'll see soon enough when it's mornin' out in California.
This. Not sure why I went for this guy...I really want to change my pick, and no it's not a keeper
No one goes for a keeper as 1st pick, no matter how much of a GOAT he can be...at least not until now. Highly surprising!
Well, as suggested above, it really ain't that surprising in terms of, say, tactical drafting: Rather than wasting a pick on an unlikely GOAT gamble, you sort out that position right away with an absolute sterling (and a much safer) pick.
For all we know, an obvious keeper round will come about - and the small handful of keepers on that level will be blocked. It's not an unlikely scenario, actually - and then you'll be laughing, having made that tactical choice in the very first round.
Last time was @Crustanoid (I think) in a '60s snake draft with Schmeichel. Pretty sure he got dicked over and bombed out soon after, despite having a brilliant retro team, but one which lacked the pizzazz that is only fleetingly available in the first couple of rounds of a draft. No one goes for a keeper as 1st pick, no matter how much of a GOAT he can be...at least not until now. As a 2nd pick, yes. Absolute waste of a first pick imo. If you have a partial chance of a good outfield player (maybe not GOAT) vs a GOAT keeper, I know which I'll go for in first pick.
Not saying I would have gone for it myself. But given the very high likelihood of all GOATs (outfield) being blocked (that has pretty much happened here, and if anyone has landed one that is down to sheer luck, obviously), it's a plausible route to go.
Point being that if you can't land a GOAT, the quality of player you CAN land will be available later on as well. And this round had sheep galore written all over it too. Better to end up with a GOAT keeper than a sheep - and it might turn out that a comically high number of managers will indeed get sheeped here.
no way!Well, I've decided to choose my own sheep.
/round.
no way!
what if i want the sheep too and block it?If my pick fits within the criteria for sheep, why not? I'll let Skizzo and other managers to confirm that it fits the 'sheep criteria'.

Okay, so I thought the sheep for this draft would have been players with a relatively long footballing career, and people ate suggesting Grant & Mourinho? That's a bit too much IMO.

So are Wenger and Benitez considered decent sheep?Lesson 1 : Be ruthless.

I still think someone may have already picked yer boy in the first round. So, it could be a case of "player already picked" rather than the pair of you blocking each other.
Picking said boy in the first round is pretty obvious too, as a half clever move: Get the keeper sorted right away, and an absolute star of a keeper at that. It's not inconceivable.
The issue with that is keepers don't count for much in drafts do they?

Exactly what I was thinking as well. Fair enough with Mourinho, but Grant and the like shouldn't be considered.Grant never played senior football, I think. So, he isn't eligible, I reckon.
Is there a record for most sheep in one round?
Last time we had 6 sheep after the Messi feck-up. That was by far the most.Is there a record for most sheep in one round?
