Lindelof is shite but we wont get any better backup player who would be willing to sit on the bench.
Not if we sell Maguire and Lindelof. It's pretty simple. Sell Maguire, keep Lindelof. Maguire will get more money and Lindelof is better.Another reason I would open to sell. Giving us some cash to get Eriksen replacement. We have enough cover in centre back.
The new business model is not to sell useful players.Because of the new rule FFP we need to find a way to generate money, I have explained this in the post you replied. This means we will need to look at our squad who we can move on to generate money, Lindelof and Maguire are in the category because they only had 4 league starters each while Martinez and Varane are considered as starting XI players as they have 16 and 13 league starters. Sell one of Maguire/Lindelof will still leave us 4 covers in CB (Varane, Lisandro, Shaw, Maguire). If we sell both, then only makes sense to buy a young CB as understudy for Varane.
It’s only sensible and proactive business model to start moving on two players like Lindelof and Maguire that sit on the bench going to turn 29 and 30 this year and replace them with a new young centre back as an understudy for long term replacement for Varane in the future. So by the time Varane retires or something, we are not stuck with another old centre back Lindelof or Maguire as we have prepare ourselves with new one by developing them and being mentor by Varane and Martinez. The new business model is not to sell useful players.
Martinez and Varane have only formed CB pair in 48% of our PL matches. We need CBs for the other 52% as well.
We are a big club and should compete also in EL and domestic cups.Martinez and Varane have only formed CB pair in 8% of those matches. We need CBs for the other 92%.
You need several CBs. We were already forced to use Casemiro to pair up with Lindelof. Then Lindelof got ill and we had rush back Varane after WC and we had to use Shaw. Sure, it worked but we lost a world class DM and FB in the process, plus risked Varane’s fitness. Varane is also a player where you need to manage his game time and to allow for him to recover and prehab. That’s one reason why Lindelof has played more than Varane since he joined, the other reason is all his injuries.
There will always be plenty of game time for other CBs. Bad idea to sell those who are useful and a part of the good results this season, when we have a long list of players who don’t contribute.
He doesn't just sit on the bench! He's an important part of our squad. You throw away good squad players at your peril. It’s only sensible and proactive business model to start moving on two players like Lindelof and Maguire that sit on the bench going to turn 29 and 30 this year and replace them with a new young centre back as an understudy for long term replacement for Varane in the future. We are selling to generate money because the new rule of FFP is affecting us right now. It’s just sensible to generate money when there is value before their value is dropped drastically then replace them with a young centre back that doesn’t cost lot but can be developed as future replacement for Varane. Oh God we have been stuck with horrible boards that some people in here don’t know how to move on with players. He doesn't just sit on the bench! He's an important part of our squad. Are you saying he will stay and become automatic first name on the sheet?I love how people are confident he'll stay as 3rd choice centre back and not become automatic first name on the team sheet
So that just tells me we should be searching for our next long lasting first choice CB to sit alongside Martinez. The new business model is not to sell useful players.

There are clubs that heavily depend on their first CB pair to play week in week out. We are not that kind of club. Our first CB pairing has not had much impact on this seasons results as I showed you: we have only won 6 games with our first pairing, and 17 games with bench CBs. We are more depending on our bench CB actually, and they have delivered what they should. We are selling to generate money because the new rule of FFP is affecting us right now. It’s good to develop a young CB. It’s a risk of course but good. However you need here and now first, especially since CL qualification and CL success is no1 with regards to economic results and FFP. Bench CBs have played in 67% of all our matches this season, you can’t throw in a young developing CB in those matches and expect good results.

I don't believe it, we finally got CDM Lindelof after all these years
And it was thoroughly ok
He's not Casemiro, but he did fine as CDM.Yeah not bad at all
He was educated as a midfielder, were you educated as a brain surgeon?I was educated, doesn’t mean I can be a brain surgeon Erik

Not much to learnYou were educated, but doesn't mean you continued to learn about Lindelof and his footballing abilities.
Fair enoughBut he said, ‘Lindelof was educated as a 6’, not just, ‘Lindelof was educated’.
So, for your example to be truly analogous, you would have to say, ‘I was educated as a neurosurgeon, but that doesn’t mean I can be a neurosurgeon, Erik’.
That could technically be true if you didn’t get an accredited position or struggled with exams or assessments, but, if not, there would be a reasonable chance Erik would be willing to employ you as a neurosurgeon (provided you didn’t reveal your doubt about your ability to fulfil your obligations).
Looked lost, added nothing. Strange sub.
