Well, what else would he do? Most clubs are a step down from Madrid. I don't think Carlo would have any qualms going to City if he gets the boot from Madrid.
Indeed. His choice might be City or unemployment.

No need to commit to another position immediately. He could take a year off.

It's kind of pathetic that a lot of really good Managers in Europe are overlooked in favour of the usual suspects, the number of quality managers seems to be decreasing according to public opinion, these days it's Mou, pep,Klopp,Simeone or bust.

What's stopping City from appointing the likes of Slaven Bilic, Rudi Garcia or Frank Rijkaard ?

He could. As much as we don't like City, they're one of the bigger clubs now. They've got major issues with their squad, but they're still a good team. He'll probably get more leeway than any of their other previous managers due to his pedigree and they'll give him cash to spend. Though I'm not sure what their FFP situation is now.

Arsenal should start hastily preparing a severance package for Wenger, hastily.

But we all know Arsenal are happy enough to be competing for top four.
Give Arsene the Director role and appoint Klopp and watch the team flourish, easier said than done though.

He's retired. Plus, there's a reason Barcelona fired him. Winning nothing in two seasons, finishing third 18 points behind the eventual champions is pretty good reason

I don't think it's coincidence that this news comes at a time when City are almost certain to be letting Pellegrini go.
Neither do I, too much of a coincidence for me. Would be a real shame to see him there...

BUT - it might also be that Pellegrini's replacement is someone else (Ancelotti perhaps) and their club is actually Klopp's next destination and the reason that he's resigned!

I can't see Real Madrid taking Klopp right now though, not off the back off this season.

Wherever he goes, after the poor end to his Dortmund time, he wants to WIN TROPHIES, and the PL with Mourinho and Van Gaal might not be the best place for that.

How about France? PSG? Monaco?

Or the German National job...?

Nah, it's City isn't it.

I don't see City as a particularly attractive choice. As a sugar daddy club, they will have impatient owners, lofty expectations, and therefore managerial turnover. Their FFP situation is a bit ambiguous to me, which is not a good sign as the likes of Toure and Silva are getting on in age. If Ancelotti goes there, he would probably require yet another infusion of transfer money to bring in a new wave of players.

Considering our form in recent weeks, I'm really surprised how many people seem to be worried about him taking over at City. They're in major need of a rebuild and there's no guarantee that he'd be a success there. We, on the other hand, already seem to be emerging from our transition and so have plenty of cause for optimism. They might not even make the CL!

It's been a while since we had something to shout about. Let's not tarnish it by acting small time.

Klopp is a football romanticist. Can't see him signing for a club like city.

Then again I was sure he'd do a sabbatical year because he has really looked burned out this season. As in you could tell just by looking at him that he was stressed beyond belief.

So I guess you can't really tell what's truly on his mind for next season.

Yeah, their situation is very unclear. And like you say, they have an ageing squad too. I mean, he didn't have a problem going to PSG, so I doubt he'd have much of a problem going to City. If he's got other options, then maybe he won't go there but, looking at it not sure he will.

Ancelotti managed both Chelsea and PSG, as if he'd have any qualms managing City.
This; he'll go where the money is if Real do get rid of him (as well they might - he hasn't won the Champions League for them since May; that's just unacceptable at Real).

City don't seem a fit for Klopp, but if he is going straight into a job next season then I can't see anywhere but England being the destination, and in the current climate that means City

There's also Tuchel, who will probably end up taking over Dortmund.

Marco Reus must be sick as a flight to Lourdes having signed that contract extension.
You have to feel for him, no Klopp and probably no Hummels and Gundogan, next season.

Likely, and you can bet that Dortmund will be extremely stubborn to the idea of selling Reus now, especially with a new manager coming in.

Reus has to feel like RvP did last season right about now. Signed at United to play under Sir Alex and then boom, he's gone after a year.

I think he'll take a break. City will tempt him, perhaps Liverpool as well, but Wenger isn't getting any younger and I think he only has one more season left in him. Maybe Klopp will succeed him in 2016.

Imagine he takes Reus, Hummels and Gundogan with him to City :nervous:
Reus just signed a contract extension at Dortmund. If anything he will be pissed at Klopp(Unless he knew before he signed).

It really doesn't take a lot for the Cafe to shit it's pants.

Was thinking that when I heard the news. Although I'm sure RVP Premiership winners medal keeps away the tears for long enough.

Bad times for Dortmund fans :(
I don´t think so. Their relationship has just run its course. They both need a new challenge/new impulse. It´s always tough, when there is such a special relationship between two peope (or a club/manager here), but somebody has to be honets and take the first step. Even when Klopp signs a new deal somewhere else in the summer, I would not consider it a betrayal. I honestly believe Dortmund would do better with the janitor coaching the team next year instead of Klopp.

If Klopp goes to City, it'd be great for them at least for the first couple years. It'll be a massive challenge though. City supporters are nowhere near the level of Dortmund ones - who stand by the club through thick and thin. A string of bad results and he'd have a heck of a job keeping his job. :\

Could definitely complicate our potential move for Hummels if Klopp does go to City.

Are Madrid likely to be interested in him?
Don't forget that Hummel's dad was LVG's assistant at Bayern and seems that both are really close. So Hummels can also listen his dad a bit

Don't worry mate, I'm not shitting it. At all. ;)

Possible, but would Klopp risk tainting his legacy with Dortmund by poaching this many of their players?
Yeah agreed, but things change in football. Unless he does a "Moyes" and offers insulting money, I don't see a big issue if he was to approach Dortmund with market related offers. Nothing offensive about those.

But anyhow, it's not very likely to happen, but it would strengthen a big part of City's problem areas.

He also won the league twice and the CL once, every coach should be allowed to fail and not be condemned, especially one with Rijkaards accomplishments, besides Klopp took Mainz to the bundesliga and proceeded to get them relegated,he made Dortmund champions and took them back down to a mid table club in David Moyes-esque fashion, he really shouldn't be rated as highly as he currently is. He is definitely not going to come the Epl and start winning trophies.
