Ah the old 'PL is harder' chestnut.

If the rumours are true it's a steal.
So you're saying a lack of a long winter break isn't hard on your body? And watching both leagues, you wouldn't say the Premier League is more physical? Even if it's not, the fact that we have four more games and that he won't have a long winter break to let his body recover will hurt him massively. You can't ignore that.

Calm down, Matic, Fabregas, probably Yaya, Ramsey too would be in that bracket. Hes still good, but hes no longer the colossus he once was.
Matic to Schweinsteiger at his best is like Skoda to Bentley.

So how much would you give him?

Cant believe you're complaining about the wage. Fee and wage - both are steal.

Reckon it will be one of carrick/schweinsteiger + schneiderlin + Herrera/Mata with memphis and Di Maria/mata on the left and right. Depending on form and injuries.

I think so too. While Matic is a really useful player for Chelsea, one of their most important, I think he's started to be quite overrated and is flattered by José set-up. Very good player, but not in the same bracket as Schweinsteiger.

This.

He hardly set the world alight in Europe last season. Especially in both PSG games.

I don't like the signing given the figures that are being thrown around, but I'll let the season do the talking.
I don't think it's unreasonable at all but even if you do, why give a shit man? We're going to see bastian fecking Schweinsteiger play for our club. Whether the fee or wages is couple of Mil more than what you think is fair, why care ?

If its a 3 year deal like the papers are reporting then is a fantastic bit of business by Woodward. The guy has at least 2 more top level years left in him

Bastian Schweinsteiger, at age 30/31, after two seasons full of injuries, with a ton of mileage on him. Do you think Bayern of all clubs would let him for that kind of money if they thought he was still that good?

He has a year left on his contract and according to the Bayern supporters on this website the board were content to give him his wish of leaving after all his service for the club

Also they let Kroos go for £20m and I'm sure they thought he was still good

Too much money has been wasted on players who weren't worth it at the end. I don't want it to happen again. I'm not gonna say Schweinsteiger is gonna be the next Falcao, but he could very well be a disappointment in terms of missing plenty of games and not being able to deliver his best often enough.

I hope he turns out to be bastian fecking schweinsteiger and not fecking bastian schweinsteiger if you get what I mean.

Felt thrilled to see Radamel fecking Falcao play for our club aswell but not anymore

Knowing our injury record alongside his injury record, kinda worried that he will spend most of next season in and out and then decline for the next season while we are searching for another midfielder like that next summer. (Which we will probably have to anyway considering possibility of Carrick leaving and Schweiny being 32.)

Come on now. Schweinsteiger barely had any time to recover after last summer's World Cup with Germany, which indirectly contributed to lingering injury concerns through the season. This time around, he's had a full summer's rest, and will have a gradual increase in terms of physical strain with pre-season training sessions. That's aside from the fact that he will at times be rotated out of games by Carrick or Pereira (who will likely be integrated into the starting XI), and given sufficient time to recuperate, something Van Gaal is cognizant of. He's well aware of the differences between the Bundesliga and the Premier League having managed in both, so you'd guess he'd have a regimented plan in place instead of running Schweinsteiger into the ground.

Of course he's still class. They're letting him go because he has 1 year left on his contract and he wants to finish his career abroad somewhere, so they're respecting the wishes of a Bayern legend. They also have promising youngsters like Hojbjorg who are almost ready to make the step up as starters. They aren't as good as Schweinsteiger, but what Bayern need in midfield is more of a youthful look, while United need the experience and leadership that Schweinsteiger provides. It's a deal that works for everyone.

1 year ago he was the best player in the world cup final and produced the performance of a lifetime... He still has it in him to be class, just has to be managed properly so he stays fit.

Honestly, do you think Bayern, who are masters of doing business, would be so social if he were that much of an asset to them? No, that's why they're Bayern. Unless he demanded his way out of there a la Kroos, they wouldn't give him up if he was that important to them.

For fecks sake he made 26 appearances last season and 37 the season before that if you include Germany games. You make it sound like he is Rafael.

I scored 4 goals for my 5 a side team today with Schweiny's kit on and then proceeded to score a late winner with him on FIFA to ruin my Chelsea supporting mate's night. Bastian is going to be amazing for us

He is my favourite midfielder since Roy Keane. I know we aren't getting him in his prime but he is still a fantastic player.

He's a club legend who has given them over a decade of great service. The board is full of ex-players who are probably more understanding than business men I would imagine

Hopefully we'll get Morgan, too. Then we'll have some very good options in midfield and thus don't have to play Bastian in every game. Instead we can keep him fresh for the CL and big games where he usually turns up and has great experience.

Regarding his injuries tbf he has had very long seasons over so many years with Bayern and Germany always getting far in CL/Euros/WC.

If we don't overuse him and he can avoid too many injuries he'll be a great asset here.

Last season, his major injury happened over the Christmas break. If that had happened in the BPL, he would've missed more games.

Tough one one the age/injury front. If you consider we need to rely on one of Schweinsteiger or Carrick and not both together, then they should be OK between them. One experienced head alongside either Schneiderlin or Hererra.

Must admit I really wanted him couple of years ago he was one of my muppet signings so if he does turn out to be a fecking hero I'll absolutley love him here but I have my reservations considering his age and the knowledge if he roles into a few injurries we might not enjoy him all that much all that long.

Brilliant signing.
Still need schneiderlin, though. Top defender, and goal machine required also.
Carrick will become back up.
