The only worry is that age will eventually catch up with him. As long as it doesn't tie us down to a long term deal then it would be a no brainer. Hopefully he'll have another year or two in him at the top level.
Don't think he ll get more than a year deal, in case he come here (which I really doubt).
Besides he would also want to visit the US before Zlatan retires football.

It's not necessarily "anti-Zlatan". I'm a fan of the player, but not a fan of signing him. We play in the Premier League where as a striker you're shut down immediately, you're not given time on the ball, you're not given space. He is technically brilliant, no doubt about it. But can he keep up with the pace of the Premier League?

We have the likes of Memphis, fast and skillful, who have struggled to keep up with the pace of the league, and yet we believe Ibra can? I'm not even sure he'll have the fitness to go a full 90 in this league. That's where people's concerns lie. It isn't about his talent - no one can deny he has ability. I just personally don't believe he'll even manage to hit 15 Premier League goals because he won't be given the time to do what he does best.
It's not all about pace in our league mate but yes I take your points. If we do sign Ibra I don't think we'll be reliant on his pace. He'll have fast players around him. He'll just use his experience and movement to create space for himself so hopefully pace wont be an issue. Yes he may get closed down quicker but he's no slouch in holding the ball up. I think we'll get a good two years out of him for sure.

On a free transfer, then i'd take him. Yes he maybe on a bumper contract, but it'll only be a year, so he'll be worth the risk and let's face it... It's not much of a risk, he's scored goals where ever he's been.

Premier League is something he may not be used to, but i think with his experiencing and ability, he'll have no problem adapting.

Age is the only thing which goes against him.
In all other areas, this guy is top class.
Though he will need some fast players around him (Martial, Rashford and one other fast player (not Rooney)).
The other factor is leadership - Ibra will definitely bring fight and leadership to our attack.

I think that's a major issue. Rooney does his best to take a game by the scruff of the neck when it's needed but we could do with more of it. It's good for the younger players development not to have to be the difference makers. It takes the pressure off.

His age is obviously a factor. I wouldn't expect him to come in and score 30 goals in the PL given the quality of the league, but there's no doubt he'd contribute.

Brilliant player and one of my favourites. Has that Cantona-esc quality and would be a great leader on the pitch. The way he plays means that age is not so much of an issue as with others, if he stays fit he'd be a great focal point of out attack and a great player for the younger lads to learn from.

Think the "fight" he will bring is being overplayed. He was absolutely anonymous v City.

Confident he'll destroy the lesser sides though. No more dropping points against Norwich, Bournemouth, etc...

On top of the league
I've said it before and say it again; it's an obvious signing. The fee is nothing and what he brings is something very few players can give.

How much would it take to buy the charisma of Schmeichel, Cantona, David Beckham, Messi, Ronaldo, Buffon, Kahn???? He's THAT big.

The only concern I have is I've noticed Ibrahimovic gets shy when he's in english speaking countries. Everyone knows swedish people have concerns about not being totally fluent in the language even though we are by international standards rather good. I really hope that won't stop him from being as cocky as only he can be. Mourinho will probably be great support here.

Other strikers mentioned in this thread is nothing but embarrassing to be honest.

When people think Vardy and Hulk is better options to Zlatan, then you know something is seriously wrong with some posters.

Well this is red cafe where people also argue that they wouldn't want to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, so the Ibra stuff is not too unexpected.

He played without his midfield against City. When Atletico neutralized Barcelona's midfield the MSN became anonymous too.

Why? He's not fluent in French is he? And his English is good!

It won't be more than a 2-year deal and even 2 years is a push, the only reason why he'd sign a 2-year deal here is that he wanted to still play in CL (amazingly he's never won CL despite winning the league in all but one or two seasons of his career). He'll go to the US and A or China (USA far more likely).

To be fair between Ronaldo and Redmond, I take Redmond every single time.

The 13 million we potentially spend on Zlatan's wages would barely cover the agent fees for some of the players mentioned. Given that the team requires a lot of work I would be happy to see this as a stop gap and the transfer kitty invested in pacy wingers and a central defender.

Our forwards weren't great this year but I think Rooney, Zlatan, Martial and Rashford would be a great line up if they were getting better service
Thats for one year yes?

You're right, I don't even agree with that list - in fact, looking at it, it's pretty ridiculous.

I was just totally against signing Ibra, I've actually kind of come round to the idea.
Screw that, don't let them convince you that Zlatan is better than Ighalo. This could be like 12 Angry Men - you could convince the naysayers. The fightback starts here!

Blanc is a good coach with impressive results. However, I confirm Blanc is not a great coach for many recurring reasons: @JPRouve & @BBRBB know my point of view

PSG had the required players and the means to reach the semis in the last 3 seasons and we failed mainly because of Laurent Blanc.

Why? He's not fluent in French is he? And his English is good!
Hard to assess his level in French: all I can tell you is he speaks French with the Italian accent

He hates journalists so I'm sure he is happy to make them speak English.

This the definition of a superior man: he imposes its rules.

There are not many players who demand so much from their teammates. He will tell Rooney to his face that it's not fecking good enough if Rooney perform like he did last autumn.

Jesus, Pep is in for a bumpy media ride if this is true. Mourinho + Ibra would be a Pep hating machine.

I bumped this years back and have some how stumbled onto it again, still makes me chuckle.

Some brilliant scouting work from a cafite back in 2002:
Surely we would be better off dipping into the Nationwide for young striking talent - there is a lot of it there. I think we do need another striker, if we're going for someone younger how about Bobby Zamora, Robert Earnshaw, Chris Greenacre or Clinton Morrision?

That's a big wage but they don't mention any signing fee...

He's crap. Ajax are looking to get rid of him. And being young doesn't change the fact that he's still crap.
Zlatan's the worst striker Ive ever seen play for Ajax. Saw him a few times this season, based on those performances he'd struggle at Bury! Reckon he'd be better off at Liverpool :)
So glad he didn't end up at Liverpool.

Thats a lot of fecking money for a 35 year old.
If he signs, hope he is not another expensive flop. For me the jury is still out
I think there has been no visible decline in his form or game due to the age. So not sure why he would suddenly become average.
Though I agree that the time is running out, he still has 1 or even 2 years at the top level.

Stupid if true. £250k a week should be more then enough for a 35 year old Zlaten (yeah yeah, he's getting better etc). If he needs more, maybe he doesn't need the move.

All this £8m bonus, and 150k euros more his PSG contract suggests our club has more money then sense.

Strikes me as another 'value for money' signing like Rooney's 5 year contract was presented to us as.
