He was spot on when he said that Benatia was joining us, after all. :wenger:
Jimmy White isn't ever going to live that one down is he :D

In any case, this Pogba deal of "almost there" has been repeated for weeks now.
At least people on here no longer believe that the deal will be announced in 24 hours. People are being more realistic.
Me: I won't believe it until he is in a MUFC shirt.

I love how all the medias "senior sources" have come out to play now. You know, after the Italian press did all the hard work for them and reported it was all but done last week. Now it's dragging on a little bit, their senior sources are starting to speak. The same sources who had absolutely no decent information until after Wednesday last week. Coincidence? Nah, i call bullshit

The picture he posted has a large window, sort of a 787 dreamliner.

The Miami flight you posted is a 737, and that's definitely not a 737 window.
So, we are now analysing plane windows?
Is this what this thread has come to?

There are more conspiracy theories flying around in this thread than there would be in a thread discussing the Illuminati and the governmental use of chemtrails.
I believe the Aurora class of scram jets do leave chemtrails in the air :p

feck it imo. Why is his vacation so damn long? He's going to miss weeks before he's in shape. Move on and get someone else imo.

If you stare really hard at Pogba, Madrid will appear out of nowhere.
That's clearly a possibility. On a different note: after thinking about it for quite a while, I've come to the conclusion that Pogba is actually on his way to St. Louis to watch Klopp-Roma at the Busch stadium tonight. Heard the Vegas-STL flights were also delayed. Maybe Liverpool can't offer him the astronomical wages, but they do have Jürgen Klopp. Liverpool are also red(referring to Wednesday's Instagram photo), have American owners and different American sponsors which could explain his prolonged stay in the US.

I agree! The whole seasons depends on them first 2 or 3 games doesn't it? Loose or draw them and we're utterly screwed.
Feck Pogba, the vacation hogging arsehole! Lets go for someone else so we can atleast try to win them first 3 games!!

Left my house at 1:30pm. Just caught up with the news at 11.30pm

From flicking through this thread, all I have missed is Pogba flying to New York to extend his already stupidly long holiday no announcement is imminent and everything is boring?

About right?

TBF I disagree he should cut his holiday short but those few games certainly can matter. As you saw last season, one point can matter.

This is looking to be probably the toughest season yet with every team strengthening, we absolutely need to win every game we can if we want to be in with a chance of the title.

Too much speculation about him being announced as imminent. Over the summers i have realised players don't sign any contract till they are back from their holidays.

Till Pogba comes back from Holiday i don't see anything happening, either he will fly directly to England from his vacations or he will fly back to Turin where Juve will make one last attempt to offer him and new contract and if he rejects it Juve will then contact Raiola to accept Uniteds offer.

Yes but we've also seen that any team can slip up at any point in the season.
This season will be absolutely no different at all. Any team can and most likely will loose points at any point. If we loose 2 of our opening 3 games (which i hope doesn't happen) it doesn't rule us out of the race at that instant. You can guarantee that City/Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool/Spurs etc will loose games that they're expected to win. Thats the beauty of the Premier League, it's becoming a much more open leage

He played the Euros so i think he will get a full month off. Even if he signed in the next 2 weeks can't see him being fully fit till mid September.

Negotiations wouldn't be this far advanced if Juve didn't have word that he had no intention of resigning with them. He's either told them himself, or via his agent that he doesn't want to sign a new deal. Juve either cash in now, or refuse his request and sell him next season for less money (1 more year gone off his contract, most clubs cold hold out for a free or severely reduced cost). My best guess would be that it's all done, but they're either waiting for his holiday to be over or working on a way for him to have his medical whilst on holiday. Only United and Juve know whats exactly happening though

Of course, but as a counter argument we will also lose games we are expected to win. We would be alright in those first few games without Pogba IMO anyway.

Ya, which is why I don't think he should cut his holidays short.

Why is this whole medical thing on holiday narrative being pushed by everyone? When has a player ever did his medical on his holiday destination before he signs for a new club. a medical takes a few hours so why does it matter if he does it in Manchester when he comes to sign

We could have him in a United shirt within the next week, but you'd rather we gave up on months of hard work and negotiations and instead signed someone else, whose transfer would take at least a week if not longer to complete anyway, just so the new player could potentially play an extra game or two more than Pogba would have played in the first few weeks?

To be fair, I've never heard of such a long holiday

The euros finished 23 days ago and apparenrly he is on holiday for 6 more days! That would make him return just 6 days before the season having been on holiday for over 4 weeks. Bizarre.

Oh dear god... the big bad Madrid are out to steal our little poggy. Come on guys, some of you see the word Madrid, start sweating and shaking then find a nice chair to start rocking backwards and forwards whilst muttering incoherently.
He's not going to Madrid, why worry??

Well, at the moment he is still a Juventus(They gave him a longer holiday) player and their season doesn't begin until August 20

Its been united policy for years to give a player a month off from the time they are knocked out of their international tournament.

Unless the player has some sort of injury that needs immediate work done on it the club don't expect the player to be back before 30 days.

Dont expect Pogba to make his United debut till mid or late September.

A 15 day holiday before getting a good pre-season would suffice. People keep wondering what's holding up the deal...the fact he's spent 0.35% of his entire life on holiday is the reason it's taking so long.

How often do you count the days? Evra is still on vacation. Griezmann just arrived in Miami last week, and his team is in Australia, so I'm not sure if he's back.

Does anyone know which France/Portugal players that actually played significant minutes (i.e., not Schneiderlin and Martial) are back with their teams. Everyone is saying this is unusual, but is it? Regardless of how unusual it is or isn't, he was promised 4 weeks by his club, and any discussions with a potential new club certainly discussed the timeline of his return early on.

Nani joins Valencia's pre-season training on Wednesday.

once no one does anything stupid like sign James for 50 million pounds , I can see Madrid not going for him at the price we are willing to pay. At least that's what I'm telling myself

That was a good shout!

All the way from page 60!

I'm sorry but Pogba will make his debut much earlier. Probably mid August. We need to get points as fast as we can so Pogba will be expected to play a vital part.

I would really like to know why it isn't already a done deal
Aaaaah yes. Jim White. He's not really one to be looking to for reliable information. This is the same guy who came out with this beautiful nugget of information...

To be fair Javi Martinez's knee injury a day before his tweet changed everything on that transfer.

Bayern Munich's Euro semi-final/final players are back in training just on Friday......also their first match is on August 19th (in the DFB-Pokal against Jena) and their first Bundesliga match is on August 26th.

Here's another theory, we're delaying the signing till he's back from his holiday to save some money from his salary, i mean why pay him 250k a week to have fun?

This whole transfer does reek of penny pinching, to be fair.
