He's sort of a hybrid of Yaya and Viera in their respective primes, except a bit better.
Viera pisses over Toure and Pogba every day of the week Raoul.
A prime Yaya Toure smashed in 20 league goals and grabbed 9 assists. You really think Pogba is better than that, at this current moment in time?

Just found this short clip from Henry. Hadn't seen it before but pretty much sums up my views on Pogba.

Feast on muppets. We somehow pulled it off.. Rvp, Di Maria, falcao, mikhita and now pogba.. And kept DDG from going also. Hope Jose make a OT A mean place to visit again.
Feck me, imagine if they were all still here!!! :( Fecking van Gaal! :o

I would almost certainly say that will be the case. He was shackled in that defensive role and I think Mourinho will be smart enough to play him in a role which best suits his current strengths.
I think Mourinho will make him play like frank lampard ;)

he will score a lot of goals for us

Surely could have waited for him to complete the medical before announcing?

What this tells me is that the club were as tired of this saga as we were.

Viera and Toure?
The things he can do with the ball are on par with Zidane (if not better).

I don't disagree. There were a few posters questioning my post about him being a hybrid of Viera and Toure, except better. I was a bit surprised to come across a clip of Henry basically agreeing.

I stand by that.

Gobsmacked, but delighted!!

I think we've been fortunate that Real and Barca haven't had the means this summer it seems.

As I do believe he would have gone to them over us.
Agreed. Hopefully this isn't a one-off, perfect storm which led to this signing. But if so, at least it's for a player who's quality is unquestioned in a position we've been looking to fill for years.

I think he's currently behind a prime Toure or Viera, but I certainly agree that he has the potential to surpass both of them.

Juve announced that he was released for the medical first. With us heading into a game (where questions would be asked afterward), it's not like we could just go dark and avoid the press. Denying it straight to the face of all the press would have looked silly.

I know he is....we're paying Juve €105m rising to a potential €110m, which works out to £89m rising to a potential £93m. Those fees exclude the Raiola fee, making the total cost of the transfer a fair bit more than £89m. €110m to Juve and €20m to Raiola have been widely floated around weeks ago now, so those figures fit in with that.

No that was dismissed by Di Marzio. What they said was that Juve would pay €4m and that we would pay €20m. People assumed it would be a 50/50 split between us and Juve but that wasn't what was reported by the reliable Journalists.

United paying Raiola but only leaking what we're paying Juve is pathetic as we're paying the % that they owe him for moving him to them from us on a free transfer.

I'm happy he's signed but the club's negotiaters look pathetic. Not a popular view on this place but that's just my opinion.
Agent fees are not disclosed as part of the transfer amount changing hands between clubs. Hilarious that you see common practice as "pathetic".

Nope, they're just letting us ride the hype wave as long as possible. The unveiling will have been planned meticulously.

£89m reported fee doesn't include Raiola's fee, as per Di Marzio:

So this new fee that's been floated around isn't reflective of the overall cost by any means.
But in general, transfer fees never include agent fees I think. The transfer fee is what is being paid to the selling club so 89 million pounds is the accurate transfer fee and whatever addons/clausew owed to Juve can also be included.

They didn't announce it, but leaked it to the press.
Yeah, I guess it wasnt quite a press conference or announcement tweet, but their spokesperson told the media (and was referred to by several outlets as the spokesperson, not an "unnamed source"). When a spokesperson is identified as the one saying something, it's as good as an official announcement. In any event, Juve are who started the ball rolling, where United could not deny it, nor could they ignore it. Otherwise they would have had to answer why he didn't show up at Juve today/tomorrow like Allegri said.

So Fergie's decision to let him leave looks like an eighty nine million pound mistake!!! Still, it could have been 100m so could be worse.

No in this case the agent fees were actually part of the overall fee Juve quoted, they just didn't want to pay it as it reduces the amount of tax they will be paying. So for all intent and purposes the agent fees in this transfer are part of the actual fee, this will be reported on soon I believe.

Juventuz having a meltdown because the transfer fee is supposedly being paid over 3 years :lol::lol:
Couple that with Castle's article about us expecting to make £40m off of Pogba in the next year from commercial income... which if in any way true means the club are basically expecting the commercial income from Pogba to pay his entire transfer fee in 3 years.

Closing a deal is pathetic now? It's a good thing you're not in charge of transfer negotiations otherwise the club would look totally inept and would still have a gaping hole in midfield.

From my perspective Juve tried their best to retain Pogba via an excessively high valuation and then, when United said they'd meet that, no problem, they tried to scupper the deal by demanding that United stump up a fee they had agreed to pay when they signed him four years ago. United are absolutely minted and didn't let anything stand in the way of getting the player Mourinho wanted most. Far from looking pathetic United look like the most financially sound and fiscally able club there is. No one can match them. Long may it continue.

3 year payment of 89M pounds for Pogba is a good deal, I'm sure the critics, Klopp and Wenger will take that deal as well.

We didn't let him leave, we wanted to keep him and he choose to leave. Big difference.

Most transfer fees are paid in installments, I can't believe they're going insane because of such a common and sensible practice

To be fair only Di Maria will be missed. They rest all kinda faded away leaving the club. Even that we recouped most of the money we splashed on him back. Only Rooney contract was mishandled. You just can't bench someone with the most lucrative 5 year contract. That was why he was prefered against Di MAria. Of course LVGs tactics didn't help either. It was actually fecking moyeses fault. imagine Mikhi on the right, ADM in the hole, Martial on the Left and Zlatan at number 9. Ohhh how i personally feel like strangling that moyesey dude now...

Yep, 105M Euros paid over 3 years plus 5M euro add on if he renew his contract beyond 5 years or if we sell him for more than 50M.
That's good really, it facilitates another signing this summer if needed.

IKR? Pogba has the potential to be a really, really good midfielder but Zidane on his day was simply majestic. Silky touch, one touch turns, vision and pass. Hopefully Pogba could emulate players such as Zidane, but far too early to say Pogba is on par, let alone better.

I'm not so sure. I think him and Zidane are fairly similar. I think none of them come close to Iniesta or even Laudrip.

FWIW, I think Pogba has as good technique as Zidane from what we've seen so far in his career. Definitely comparable.

pogba getting anywhere near zidane? he would be the best midfielder of his generation for sure.

i quite agree with henry's comment about the mixture of Viera and yaya in pogba. he definitely got traits of them in him. the physicality of viera and the moment of brilliance of yaya. in terms of his skill on the ball, he is fantastic. not quite zidane majestic, but who is?

Zidane was better than Iniesta. If Zidane was playing now people would rightly have him in the conversation with Ronaldo and Messi. He falls a little short of that but he was truly special.

Iniesta is a fabulous footballer. You could pull together stats or videos and say he's better than Zidane at x, y or z. But bottom line, Zidane owned football matches. Routinely. For years. In different leagues too. Iniesta is a short way off that. These are fine margins but Zidane had that extra something. I'm not being romantic when I say that.

Pogba is a good distance behind everyone here. Hopefully he'll get there in the next few years but I doubt he'll ever be as good on the ball as Zidane was. They're completely different players.
