Come on. It's not hard. Lukaku prefers Chelsea. But chelsea won't pay that amount which is absolutely taking the piss. Everton want united because of the money and so does his agent. Lukaku isn't exactly upset at moving to United, at the end of the day he wants a step up. But the idea this is a 'failure' on chelsea's part is a joke. They didn't want to spend that money on him. So they didn't. If they wanted to, he would have signed for chelsea by now.
Come back and join us in the real would fella.

Chelsea pay what ever it takes when they want someone, don't embarrass yourself by saying "we didn't want want to pay the money"

They fecked up this transfer trying to wait Everton out till the last minute believing they could get him in the cheap nearer the end of the window, hugely incompetent from Chelsea, disrespectful to Everton and the player.

They don't seem to have seen the news where Everton are now 50% owned by a man worth $2.5 billion and not by plucky Bill Kenwright worth what ever he has found down the back of the sofa this morning.

Everton said right from the start that they will only sell for £100 million, not 60, not 72, not 45 on the last day of the transfer window when usually they would be scrabbling around trying to fund their last minute transfers, but £100 million.

One club has taken them seriously and entered into discussions on that basis, another club has seemingly decided to take them for a bunch of twats.

No club has bottomless pockets
Madrid spending 45 mil on a 16 yr old when they are chasing Mbappe would suggest they don't really care about the money if they want a player and if the player has his eyes set on them. Are you seriously going to buy that nonsense of Pogba crying over the phone on a call with Zidane?

Also, just to clear this up, there is no suggestion that everton actually accepted Chelsea's bid right? Simon Stone said Chelsea offered to match, not that it was agreed to.

Chelsea fans are in the denial phase currently. Some days later and they will start to accept the facts.

Then why have they matched our bid? Or is it Monopoly money which they flashed to Everton?
Abramovic must be adamant to pay in Ruble

Well done @Matt_Law_DT, Chelsea have indeed offered to match Man Utd bid for Lukaku - but won't match agent fees.
IMO, this doesn't mean it was accepted. Chelsea asked everton could they match and everton have likely said no because the deal is too advanced and the rooney factor.

Of course it's a failure as now they need to find even more money to buy a unproven PL forward.

You argue that Lukaku is the best replacement for Ibra but then want other players to provide what we are missing with Zlatan's departure?

Even with Zlatan last season, we were far from competing for the title, and thus we need more than just existing player covering up for Lukaku's short comings and might be better to sign morata who is as good as a goal scorer but also contributes more to build up like Zlatan did.
Have I? I think he is the best person we can sign for the striker spot. We dont need a like for like replacement for Ibra, lukaku will probably score more goals too.

Our offer overall is much better thanks to Rooney. Journalists can say what they want but I'm sure it's part of the deal with them even if not officially announced.

Those who say he wants Chelsea, we won't bid for anyone unless we have agreement from the player first and all this "his childhood club" nonsense is, well, nonsense as many players supported teams in EPL and ended in different clubs anyway. Shaw was a chelsea supporter and he joined us at the end, just the nearest example.

Matt Law has shown just how gutted Chelsea are to miss out on Lukaku by throwing a complete hissy fit in his articles. Reminiscent of Ballague when Pogba came here instead of Madrid.

How he's managed to convince himself that coming to the biggest club in the country instead of Chelsea is equivalent of going to China is quite something though.

Pogba is also a factor -being such good friends with Lukaku, I am sure Jose would have sounded out Pogba about whether Lukaku wants to join us.

Shaw never had the choice between Chelsea or United. Jose said at the time he would not spend that much on hin.

Chelsea's salty tears are making this so much better :D

They could have come out and said they didnt think the asking price was fair and they wouldnt get bullied into paying over the odds. That would have been better than this nonsense..
But that would only work if they dont then go out and spend the same amount, if not more, on someone who wasnt their first choice.

If they are thinking of going all in for Morata or Belotti, then they cant complain about the asking price for Lukaku.

I can understand United's fans' desperation to land Lukaku after Griezmann's fiasco. It's a sign of times that a player with serious limitations like Lukaku becomes an object of the transfer battle between United and Chelsea. Couple of years ago anyone who suggested that Lukaku is worth 90m or so would be called madman, now it's the reality we live in.

Personally, I've never been a fan of Romelu due to some serious flaws in his game and said on this very forum that an idea of him coming to CFC doesn't really excite me. Still, if Conte wanted him and the club fecked up, I'm not happy about it because I want the manager to get the players he needs.

Doesn't matter.

The last thing a player will look at when joining a club is his childhood club being what. They only choose what will benefit them the most.

He can support what he wants but it doesn't mean he must end at his supported club.

Well, the market has changed dramatically in the last couple of years especially in the PL with the TV deal. The thing Lukaku has going for him is the ability to hit the back of the net. Given he's a striker, that's always going to make him desirable despite some technical deficiencies especially when he's young and will improve.

I don't think us wanting him or Morata has anything to do with the failure to land Greizmann either. I think the plan was always to get Greizmann to play behind a striker and not as the striker which means we were always going to be in the market for a striker. Fully expect us to go balls deep for him again in the summer to play alongside Lukaku or whoever we get.

A couple of years ago, many of the prices this summer would've been called mad.

Yet your club wants to sanction a 70m buy for a wing back in Sandro? Didn't Chelsea fans tell us that it's the board who does the buying, so why wouldn't they pay up 30 odd million for him and his modest wages?

Sandro is a Brazilian international, starter for Juventus and in the prime of his career. Shaw was a very talented teenager with potential at Southanpton.

Also 30 mil then and 30 mil now are very different.

Is it true Drogba tried calling Lukaku on Instagram live but the call did not go through?

I hope he does not convince Lukaku.

Times saying that Chelsea bid for Lukaku first, and Conte feels betrayed because Lukaku told him he was desperate to rejoin. So it sounds like he was just using Chelsea to get a better wage offer from us

If lukaku was desperate to go back to chelsea, why is he even entertaining our bid? Let alone rumoured to already passed a medical and be announced today/tonight?

It's Chelsea PR spin to deflect attention.

Hopefully gets announced today.

Might get his jersey if no one more "exciting" is brought in.

Though I really hope my kit curse doesn't continue.

Got a Di Maria kit in 2014. He left the following season.

Memphis in 2015. Ibra in 2016. Only Pogba survived it
