But still. I can't see any sense of signing a new centre back when we already have 6 exclude him. The only new centre back we should go is a first choice starter as an upgrade. Not adding another "backup" centre back when we have plenty.
Again, I agree.

rojo can't come back quick enough,
Odd how everyone seems to have forgotten how dog shite Rojo was for a long time at the start of his United career, until it just clicked. There's absolutely no guarantee he'll come back and be instantly great again after a such a long time out.
For me Axel needs to be given a go, he's got so much potential and simply looks a United player.

What is especially odd about Lindelof is that he seems to just allow attackers to dictate to him. The first goal today was a classic example, instead of confronting Ince further up the pitch he backtracked until he was virtually in the 6-yard box! If this lad ever makes a PL CB I will eat my trainers
Actually, that was the right move to not attack the player with the ball. Had he done that, then the player running in behind, who Lindelöf tried to stop in the end, would have been 1 on 1 with the keeper.

The problem was, he defended horribly once he confronted the guy who took the shot. That mistake on their second was terrible as well. It looked like he tried to head it at an angle to pass it to the side, missing it entirely.

I said for him...

I think you are trying to argue something that is not worth to do or there to do.
Based on what? Not an argument, just asking for explanation. It looks to me you just made it up to say it made sense for him for no reason. Every managers have made a lot of non sense signing. Even Sir Alex signed Bebe you think it made sense for Sir Alex just because he signed him?

Of course most of them signed them because it made sense to them. I doubt they would just sign players for fun. And I said most.

For jose, he does not want to use kids which one of them was hailed as a very good prospect by himself. But it is very obvious for many of us that he won't use them. Not plan to in long term anyway.

And he probably wants a ball playing CB because he does not rate the likes of rojo and blind in that?

Or he fears for his life if he does not sign that guy.

Sir Alex mentioned that he signed Bebe without even watched him played before. Well, it doesn't make any sense why Sir Alex signed a player without even watching them. So there are signings that doesn't make any sense were made by managers.

I don't know how people interpreted it that way. Last season Jose was a manager who used youngster the most compared to the others.
Exclude the kids & Lindelof we still have 5 for two spots. With Jones being injured today, we still have Blind as an option if we didn't sign Lindelof.

As far as what I can see, van Dijk & Bonucci are ball playing centre back who can be available if we add another 20m and they are first choice quality. Why Jose wanted a ball playing centre back who are worse than Blind & Rojo? You are just guessing here by saying "probably".

You really do need to read better. I said most. It is common sense now, is it not?

Also the point about jose using youths. Yeah one or two games that had no impact whatsoever at the end of the season does NOT change his overall history. Don't be naive.

And the third part, you should ask him. Not me.

Just because I think I know what he is trying to do does not mean I agree with it or I happen to know all and every single details about his thought processing.

Are you questioning about the purchase itself or if I am a psychic or something?

Does it matter now? We have this guy and this problem. So you hope it won't be a problem for long and he somehow proves he was a right purchase for the club.

Explain what did I read wrong? I don't know why you don't think Lindelof cannot be a non sense signing for the manager.

Well, that's why it doesn't make any sense. Not even both of us can provide a common sense answer for the manager.

If a shit and another shit had a baby, it would still turn out better than Lindelof.

In his short time here, I already lost count how many mistakes he has done.

I started to have doubts about him when he made that 10 second late tackle to give Madrid the penalty in pre season friendly. I thought he will improve given time but in reality he has become worse.

For yesterday 1st goal, he takes forever to commit to the challenge and so easily get turned by opponent. End up he didn't even capable of trying to make a block when opponent try to make a shot in 6 yards box.

For 2nd goal, that was simply atrocious for a Man Utd CB to miss such a simple header. He is not EPL standard at all.

We should cut our loses and move on. He is one of the worst defender I ever seen playing in EPL history.

Should never play for the club again. Loan him out in January then sell him in the Summer and recoup some of the money. He is 23 and we have 4 centre backs better than him and Blind. He won’t find a place in the squad when everyone is fit.

If Mourinho wants a defender to mold into his type of player then do that with Tuanzebe and Mensah.

We can’t afford to give him time to get better, we need players who can perform now. It was different with Vidic and Evra because they were still better than he is and there was room for them to improve because our squad was already great.

Trying to be objective here. Lindelof’s strengths : 1. decent passer when under no pressure 2. Making hand gestures to his team mates. Other than these, no strength, can’t tackle, can’t head, no real pace. In essence he is everything Bailly isn’t. How did Jose get this signing so wrong? Tuanzebe and TFM are miles better than this fella.

That's the worst part of it for me, instead of realising what gems he has and giving them the opportunities he reaches for the cheque book, and thus blocking the progress of our own academy players who are actually better and more built for the role and adapted to English football. It's the main difference between Jose and SAF.

Christ give the bloke a chance. Most didn't want Rojo and now they are crying to have him back. Jones and Smallings have had their fair share of mares and again most wouldn't have been bothered if we got rid of both at the start of the season. All the defenders have been given a degree of patience let's wait and see what he's like after at least a bloody season.

I would rather us giving Tuanzebe chance than Lindelof. Rojo wasn't this bad back then, at least he was decent enough to be "backup quality".

Some signings don't work out but surely people can't realistically suggest that he can be written off already. If your suggesting Rojo wasn't this bad, you've got a selective memory.

If we should choose to who we should give them times, between Lindelof or Tuanzebe. I think we know the answer.

Yes I don't think Rojo was this bad. I don't need to mention his last season, his first season is enough to justify that he was so much better than Lindelof right now. I could see at least Rojo knows how to defend as an average level centre back in his first season. But Lindelof didn't look like an average level centre back at all and worse IMO.

Nobody can tell me that they have the ability to say what he is or isn't after only a few games when the scouts and Jose's watched him a damn side longer. Now after a full season with a series of games with no improvement questions can be asked. We'll agree to disagree on Rojo.....

Well I guess you have different opinion for that one. But to me, if we are going to give chance and times it should be to our youth players like Tuanzebe. We shouldn't spend 35m just to let the player settle in one full season with no guarantee to be good enough for 1st choice quality and make Tuanzebe as our 7th option with lack of game times.

And this is not the first time manager made mistake in signing. Sir Alex signed Bebe without even watched him play.

The guy was very poor yesterday.Jose should have brought Blind on instead when Jones was injured.
But early days yet.....have to give him a fair a chance. If he's still as bad at the end of the season sell him to Everton for 50m :)

He was one best on the pitch against Benfica who despite being in low form are probably better than Huddersfield. I don't think he even expected to be on the pitch today... I guess he doesn't know Phil Jones that well, yet.

Get good, you Swedish fecker. This is a lifetime opportunity for you and Mourinho's patience isn't gonna be tested forever.

There is a poster going on about how Lindelof is going to be the best defender in the league in two years time. I will eat my hat if that happens. Every time he plays against any team where he actually has to do some defending he looks like an accident waiting to happen. I have never seen a defender make costly errors everytime he plays against any team that forces him to defend. We simply couldn't have brought a worse CB for 31m than this guy. To the people saying give the bloke another 7 games to prove himself well, I wonder how many points that would that cost us. I still can't believe we could have got Laporte, Manolas, Jonathan Tah or even Michael Keane but Jose says no not for us Lindelof is our man. SAF excuse with Bebe was that he never saw him play when he was signed, Mourinho can't use that excuse because he is quoted as saying that he scouted this bloke extensively and knows everything about players from the Portuguese league. We should maybe try him in the midfield and see if can cut it there because he sure as hell isn't cutting it as a defender.

Slow, weak, lost. These are the adjectives that can be used to describe Lindelof at this point in time. I'll give it that he has a decent pass. But Jones has a decent pass, Bailly has a decent pass. Heck even Rojo can knock it forwards decently.

I'm not sure what Mou saw in him to suggest that he'll cut it in the PL. And he himself admits as much that Lindelof isn't ready for the PL. So then why buy him??? We play over 40 games a season against PL-physicality CFs. If he can't deal with Huddersfield, when do you deploy him? This isn't Serie A where things can slow down for him in domestic games, only having to face physical Forwards a handful of times a year in European competitions. It's baffling.

A bit like David Luiz when he first came to the PL, but Luiz was a much more physical player than Lindelof is even back then.

We didn't need to sign Lindelof. Even if he comes good we didn't need another defender with "potential", we needed an experienced, ready made world class defender like Bonucci. He would've just slot in straight away without any settling in period. Then we should've sold Smalling and rotated the other CB position between Bailly, Jones and Rojo depending on form and injuries and play Blind in case of an emergency. Even when Van Dijk was being linked with other big teams we were never in for him, which I don't understand. Big mistake from Mourinho.

At the minute Tuanzebe looks a more composed CB but surely Victor will improve with time - thankfully he and Smalling only have Harry Kane next week

Right now he is very bad and shouldn't be seen anywhere near starting line up or even the bench, but to be fair I'll give him some time to prove himself here, maybe a season.

Wonder if we'd have bought him if Mourinho knew we weren't getting Perisic. Feels as if he bought Lindelöf to play in a 3 man defence where his quality on the ball helped us at the back while now he's stuck with making him work in a 2 man defence which is proving to be very tough given he doesn't have others to cover for him.

Also one thing is he played lcb last season all the time while smallings best came at rcb under lvg. Whay are they both playing opposite sides under mourinho.
