Being coached really well and made a better player. Fair play Jose- top management
Absolute dosh. Got nothing to do about coaching - it's about playing him at AM rather than on the wing & Jose play every Tom dick and Harry at AM before Lingard.

Fans are so eager to give Jose credit over the most simplest things but when it comes to giving LVG credit for picking Rashford or anybody else it's just luck.

Jose is lucky that he picked Lingard at AM & that mkhitarayan is out of here.

Think van gaal did a great job on rashford myself. Think mourinho has increased lingard work rate and made him a central role and he generally looks a better player. I'll be giving plaudits to the coaches and the player himself when a player is markedly better if that's ok with you

LVG was the first one to start playing him in that central role.

He does a lot of good things in flashes, but he’s just not good enough, scores some great goals, at important times, works his socks off. But his choice of movement is poor, he is a squad player as he;d struggle to get in to teams in worse positions than us.

Yes lvg deserves credit for that too. But he's playing better now

Playing better today than on Wednesday night for sure. Nice exchange with Lukaku there.

Messi Lingard has seemed to mature and gain consistency in his game now.

SAF always said he would be a late bloomer and it looks like the great man was right again.

He s good runner, has good positioning on the field but God, he needs to work a lot on his passing.

Scored the winning goal but the complacency he showed in the 2nd half was disgraceful. We had good opportunities on the counter and he just played safe passes.

I thought he played well until near the end when he was guilty of passing the ball back when he should have run into the space with it. He did well finding space between the lines. Lucky goal.

For the first time he actually had a very good output this season. Fair to him.

Another good performance. Seems Jose and Ed knew exactly what they were doing when they gave him the new contract.

Our most efficient player at a goal every 115 minutes

Not a great perofrmance but another goal thanks to a defelction, right now he's the best toption we have in that role I guess.

That's my view on it too.

I still don't think he's good enough to be a regular first choice player but he's playing well right now and deserves to be starting.

Decent performance from Jesse. Will forever run off the ball, and create space for others.

Got a stroke of fortune with his goal, but if you dont shoot you dont score.

I picked him as man of the match, although he was getting frustrating to watch a bit in the second half. Gave the ball away a lot but his first half performance was very good.

Furstrating player. Can exceed expectation greatly at time, but other time just annoy the hell out of you

He had the best pass completion rate of all the starters. I understand frustration about him maybe playing it a bit safe, but he simply didn't give the ball away very much.

The problem is pass completion stat this game doesn't give the whole picture. A completed pass but wrong option is a problem if the team is trying to for that chance to break and kill the game. Even the better decision was bad executed at times. This game on one quick break, he passed to Rashford slightly behind and Rashford lost the momentum and ended up with West Brom getting back into their defensive shape.

And he's not exactly playing tidy. One of his last touch in this game was flick which killed chance when he could have kept the ball play an easier pass.

He is not exactly bad, and clearly one of our better options at the moment, but definitely this position should still be looked at.

still relatively raw for his age; as I said to some other fan - wait until he knows what he is doing & loses a bit of speed. Normally when a player hits their prime they realise they can't make 500 runs a game.

That's when I think Lingard will go up a level & turn out to be a bit of a surprise.

I think he is the best defensive AM/SS we could possibly ask for; best to grab a purely attacking minded AM/SS to join the squad.

Okay so one deflected goal and suddenly everything came to perfection. Good luck with that because it exactly is the way dear Jesse would use for manipulating your mind. He will have one random lucky shining moment before disappearing for 5 next consecutive matches. It has been over and over again for years, seems people dont want to realize or accept the truth which is not in their favor

He is steadily rising his stock. More and more attributes are becoming more prominent:

1. Receive the ball in tight spaces and turn
2. Clever Dribbling
3. Snap powerful shot outside of the box

mixed with his older attributes:
1. Clever runs
2. Defending from the front

He is building his stature, and turning to be a deserving player to play for United. Go on Jesse.

Excellent response

Imagine being anti any United player, when they’ve done nothing wrong :houllier:
People usually don't value the things they have until they lose them. Once Rashford/Martial is gone, you will look back and understand how much using Lingard had cost us

Except Lingard is not competing with those 2 players at all. Right now he is keeping Mkhitaryan out of the side, nothing to do with Rashford and Martial.
