Well and truly unzipped right now.
Say we sign the fecker. Where is he going to play though? Are we just completely giving up on our right wing?

How come? I’ve been out of the loop all day. What’s the update?
In order: DiMarzio appeared even more confident on our behalf, Wenger refused to comment on the newest development, then City briefed the press with the character assassination strategy and now Mourinho doing his best impression of "we are definitely working on it but can't say it straight out".

If we sign him we shouldn't definitely put up a massive poster that says 'Welcome to Manchester...'

I read mourinhos quotes and it sounds we are balls deep into this. Just a feeling and based on other news around how it’s about the money and city are walking out. It really never really is clear until it’s done, but either we are getting played massively or it looks like we have made significant movement.

I'm gonna say this is a coin toss and it looks like it will be settled within the next week or two.

I can't believe the way the journos are trying to frame City and Pep as some saints just because they play pretty football, like they aren't a history free oil funded club that has paid over the odds time and again and just this past summer spent £140M on 3 fullbacks.

I think Sanchez is great and if we sign him then fantastic, but I will enjoy seeing Ballague and the rest of the neysayers absolutely cry into their tea if he chooses to join us instead. It'll be bloody fabulous.

Anyone can play pretty football with infinite budget to spend. I don't remember last season Pep playing beautiful football, or his second season at Bayern.

Not even trying to take the piss, but in what world are top players ‘desperate to play for Manchester City’..?

Like, I accept they are a good team and all, a better football team than us right now, but I can’t imagine a world class player, who is not a City fan, thinking ‘Manchester City or nobody’. Like, play for a big club, play for lots of money, play for trophies- yea. But people are speaking as if Alexis Sanchez has a burning dream to play for City, to the extent that no other club can compete, which is highly unlikely.

Guess we'll leave that until the summer.

Lukaku
Sanchez Lingard Mata
Oh cmon. No Martial and no Rashford? My guess would be that he'll get a free role behind Lukaku. Although that would be harsh on Jesse. Can Sanchez not play on the right?

City briefing has nothing with forcing Sanchez's hand. Looked more like briefing we gave in Griezmann case.

We're definitely close to getting him.

Btw. Gary is on fire, love that he called Ballbag in public.

exciting this, I've went from yesterday saying we haven't a chance, to now thinking we possibly do. Man City don't need him, we do. He'd obviously improve City of course he would, but he's not needed. 25-40 million isn't much for a club like City, but you thrown in agent fees and wages, it's maybe hard to justify that one to the board, when in a few months he's free. I'm still wary of all this, but if we pull this one off.........

Have we even decided on where we want to play him yet? As a second striker, left wing or right wing? I don’t want to see any of Rashford/Martial or Lingard lose their spot in the team. The right wing is obviously our weakest position, and he did excel as a right winger for Udinese, but isn’t he perhaps a little wasted there?

If he joins should he be given #7?
That #7 just piles on the pressure and I'd rather we gave it to someone who will potentially stay at the club for a longer time.

I think it’s done. We have him.
I get the same feeling. Alexis Sanchez. Arguably the best in the league and will instantly be our best outfielder and attacking talisman. Would be incredible.

Rashford's been pretty poor this season. I don't think Martial should be dropped but that is the lineup I can most likely see as Lingard's become undroppable and Sanchez likes to cut in.

Just went on bluemoon. Go and see it for yourself., the sheer panic of alexis joining Utd is classic. They were cocky as feck yesterday and saying there was zero chance....

I know I might get stick for this, but we've got two other plays in Martial and Rashford who can play on the LW, and he's 29 so may not be a long-term option, and as such I really wish we were going for a RW instead as that's where we're weakest. Mahrez would've been ideal.

That said, he's most likely an upgrade to Martial which is good, and I didn't expect RVP to be as good as he was so here's to hoping. Just think we still need a RW desperately too.
