I don't think Martial tracks back enough to play as a left midfielder in that setup.
He tracks back enough for Mourinho to play him in 4231, I don't think there's much difference here personally.

Sanchez is more of a Mourinho attacker than he is a Guardiola one. Why haven't these bellend 'reporters' mentioned this yet instead of their bitter 'money' jibes?

Sanchez has mostly played on the left. Played once on the right last season and nine times the season before according to transfermarkt. We'll see.
Only under Arsene though tbf. He was mainly used on the right before then.

Maybe it was a case that it'd smash their wage-structure and FFP might get involved, I don't have any expertise on this however.
Doesn't make sense to me considering they were ready to pay a lot more for him last summer.

Since when have Man City started penny pinching?
Seems to be a briefed response from City because they've lost out to me. "We just didn't want him for X, we'd have got him if we wanted him"

So here are the alternatives

----------Lukaku----------
Sanchez - Lingard - Mata

----------Lukaku----------
Martial/Rash - Sanchez - Mata/Lingard

----------Lukaku----------
Martial/Rash - Lingard - Sanchez

I'm not really sure about how good Sanchez is on the right wing. Unless he's as good as he is in the other attacking positions, then I'd honestly prefer if we play him off Lukaku, with Martial or Rashford on the left and Lingard or Mata on the right. The only downside to this is that Lingard loses his #10 position that he has excelled at so much lately. The alternative is severely limiting Rashford and Martial's game time if we give the left wing spot to Sanchez.

Or we could mix it up, with starting Sanchez on the left in most games with Rashford and Martial on the bench, and move Sanchez elsewhere when we sub them on. Combined with starting one of Martial/Rash in some games on the left while playing Sanchez elsewhere.

Gary speaking some sense. Ballbag is the biggest cnut of them all.
Maybe, just Maybe, Alexis wants to play for United and now City are in damage control.

Ballague is out to lunch with City vs. money. It could very well be the other way around, given that the oil club embodies money.

City have briefed they are pulling out. So it is either join United or stay at Arsenal for Sanchez. And he doesn't want to stay, so it is looking very, very positive.

Sanchez will run through brick walls for Jose. Start of the true revival from the endless transition periods.

Sanchez can play on the right very easily; and when he played as a striker for Arsenal he drifted to the right quite often.

Sanchez is more of a Mourinho attacker than he is a Guardiola one. Why haven't these bellend 'reporters' mentioned this yet instead of their bitter 'money' jibes?
This is a fact that most have ignored. Sanchez is a hardworking player that takes risks with the ball and moves freely around the pitch. Guardiola wants hardworking players; that follow his instructions on the ball and stick to their position.

Something doesn't add up.

Maybe they've spoken to his representatives, and Sanchez is not happy with the role they've offered him i.e. rotational, because that's what he'll be, in my opinion, just as Aguero is.

United will most definitely be able to offer Sanchez constant games and the famous 7 shirt.

I mentioned in the Lucas Moura thread that he wouldn't give us the immediate lift a Jan signing would hopefully do for us, due to not being match fit, due to not playing much football. If we get Sanchez, boom, that's instant impact, he hits the ground running

Huh? He’s basically Peps perfect version of a number 9.

On this money issue with City their offer is supposed to be 20mil to Arsenal and a 15mil sign on fee to Sanchez. Maybe we’ve offered something similar but with 35mil or cash plus Miki and a 15mil sign on as well. City still have FFP issues and maybe this is them at their limit because he’ll be on easily 300+k

That's because we have a #10 that does a lot of dirty work. If we take out Lingard who tracks back a lot, put in Sanchez and move him up front, the left and right midfielders will have to share the extra defensive responsibility that Lingard had in the previous setup. If Sanchez plays as a striker that is. He could operate the way Rooney did, as a striker who also tracks back a lot, but then it'd be pretty much the same as a 4-2-3-1 wouldn't it.

Mou fueling the fire:devil: wrt where he'll play.. my guess is we'll rotate our midfield/attack a lot. But Sanchez, Lukaku, Pogba and matic are the only 4 out of the 6 that will for sure play when fit, and Mou will adapt our attack to build around Sanchez. So it depends on the game. Games where we expect to dominate:
Lukaku
??? Sanchez ???
Pogba Matic
back 4
Tougher games:
Lukaku ????
Sanchez
Shaw Pogba Matic Valencia
back 3

Sanchez Lukaku ???
Pogba ????
Matic
Back 4
Question marks depends on form and opponents. When we need someone on the right wing, either Mata or Lingard. When it's left wing, either Martial or Rashford. When it's up top, Martial or Rashford (or Lingard and pushing Sanchez up). Think everyone will be fine game time wise. Sanchez though I wouldn't want to put him on the wing in the same fashion we currently use our wide players. Should be built to give him as much freedom to attack and drift as possible because that's how he's at his best.

Wasn't that Messi? Sanchez is more maverick than your ideal Pep player who would be more metronomic (?). It's one reason why Sanchez didn't thrive at Barcelona. He's more aggressive in his play style.

There is a discrepancy between what english media are saying and what sky italy are saying: english media claim city don't want to pay more than £20m to arsenal and are ready to step down. Sky Italy are saying Sanchez has agreement with United and at the moment Sanchez prefers United

David de Godea kicks the ball to Bailly, Bailly passes it to Valencia, Valencia passes the ball to Matic, Matic quickly passes it off to Pogba. Pogba runs up the pitch with Martial and Messi Lingard running up along with him. Pogba pretends to shoot but passes it off to to Lukaku. Lukaku one touch passes it to the Oh my Lord would you look at that out of nowhere comes Sanchez running into the box who masterfully plays a one two with Martial through the legs of the defender and puts it in the back of the net with an sensational lob over the keeper who stands absolutely no chance! /drool
