Poor mans Nicolas Annelka, struts around as if he’s the main man having done nothing at the club. Our urgency changed completely when he went off.

Did well for the assist and should have had another with the chance he created for Sanchez, but I thought he was pretty poor other than that.

Done well in first half
In second half he lost the ball about 4 times and was tightly whipped off IMo
No argument with it, Jesse done the business when he came on

His past completely abandoned him in the second. And that's because he tried to complicate things with shit flicks.

Was Martial this casual under LvG, or is it under Jose coz I can’t remember. People say Pogba got dropped for not following what was asked of him by Jose, so I can only assume Martial is doing what is asked of him(not saying look casual but not run around like a headless chicken)otherwise he wouldn’t start such big games.

And some posters think our fans on here are a disgrace
Martial - simple not good enough.. In the main i’ll always get behind the lads, but I’ve seen nothing from Martial since he signed that convinces me that he is a player of united quality..We looked a lot better when he went off.

Great player but Lingard showed him up a little with the urgency he brought when he came on.

Arguably Sanchez should have come off ahead of him but despite not being at the races he was up and down at every opportunity.

Remind me who assisted the 1st goal and who was the only player who created actual chances in the 1st half?

But also was our only player who looked good in the first half while the rest were awful. He did poorly in the 2nd, but you have to give him the credit for us not being behind at half time.

Also plenty of times in the past. We look tumescent til he gets subbed on and then provides more directness and pace and power in the attack. Young player. Has good and bad moments. Shock horror

The was moment where Sanchez, lukaku and Pogba were pressing Chelsea defenders and thought Martial would press the keeper only to find him standing around. That's what probably annoyed mourinho too because not too long after lingard was sent to warm
That for me sums up his attitude, I noticed it and thought the same as well.
Our dynamic just changed when he went off, I think he is extremely easy for defenders to play against 95% of the time it's just that 5% when you see a bit of magic and hope he can continue with it but he can't.

Ye fair play an assist in the first half I’ll give him that, but an assist now and again doesn’t make a united player. I want to see him contributing on a consistent basis meaning week in week out, winning games for us..too many times I watch him running down blind alleys being to predictable wasting the ball and then lethargically not being professional enough to work to get the ball back.

Still his best role is coming on in the final 25 minutes for Rashford or Sanchez. The guy has far too many games where he does not enforce himself on it. People go on about Rashford being out of form before his injury, and that may be in true in terms of goals and assists, but he always works his bollocks off and was frequently close to scoring or creating chances for teammates. Even on an off day he still contributes positively. Martial, on the other hand, is only too happy to trot about. All the technical ability you can want and all the blessed physical attributes necessary for a forward are nothing without the right determination, decision making and teamwork.

It tells you everything about his performance today that his song was sang once and that was during his substitution. Crowd saw nothing in him.

Now and again? He has scored more goals than everyone bar Lukaku and has more assists than everyone except Pogba this season. May be its you who seems to have a problem not him.

Bit shit today to be honest, was played on the left but offered little, tidy assist but we need more from him in my opinion. Still young though.

Think it was the sort of game that sums him up really. Nice for the goal, but largely poor apart from that and didn't work hard enough without the ball.

Couldnt agree more and I have been a big supporter of his but he's grossly overated on here and in general, his overall game is lazy, lethargic and has no urgency, when we need him most he overcomplicates passes and usually loses the ball and just stands there in disbelief,

Even at 1-1 when he was subbed he took an eternity to get off the pitch as if we were 3-1 up, kid need's to work alot harder or be shown the door because his hype doesn't live up to what he does in a full game.

Bringing in Alexis has affected his game. He started getting simple passes wrong. Hope he'd jut get his basics right.

Some of the stuff I've read about him is nonsense, he thrives on quick football, literally no one in the team showed any sort of urgency in the first half and he looked our best player. 2nd half he was poor admittedly but why is it that every time he has a poor game you lot are so quick to latch onto him, but when it's Rashford he's still young and learning. Signing Sanchez is looking like a really bad deal, Martial is better than him on the left.

Credit for the assist. People go on about how bad he was other than that, but we wouldn't have won without that move. There have been plenty of great players who at times were nowhere for entire games but still come up with a goal or assist, like Zlatan for example.

Not saying he is on that kind of level of course, he has a lot of aspects of his game to improve on. Problem is if he doesn't work on his game, someone will take his place sooner or later.

Thought it was a decent performance. Great assist. The rest of the match was decent, not terrible as some are saying and not 9/10 performance. Solid 7/10 for me.

Having both of them compete for a spot is a good problem to have. Thinking that signing Sanchez was a bad move just because of this is making me question if you prioritise what's best for United or Martial.

Given that Martial is about 7 years younger than Sanchez might explain the urgency behind some of our supporters to back a player who will contribute for longer.

Very good game from Martial. Created 2 chances in the game, whilst only Hazard had more (3). He needs to be consistently playing from the left side, whether as a LW or LF in a 2 up front.

Nah he's had good performances with Alexis too. Our whole team was shit for the past month and a bit. Hard for anyone to do anything consistently. He's showed bits of class(first half today), then had bad moments like his second half today.

He's nowhere near the level Sanchez is on though, and Sanchez is still in his prime. We need to compete now, that's why we signed him. There are no guarantees that Martial is ever getting to that level for us.

People may see me as a critic of his (which i am) but I've got nothing against the guy, i just say it how it is, half-time I posted in this thread to say he performed well, in my opinion probably his best ‘performance’ this season (at that point), he wasn’t spectacular but was good, was always looking to do something with the ball and was all-round positive.

But 2nd half was just a typical Martial performance for me, he’s been like that all season. Give it another 2 weeks, people will forget about this performance, get the charts out, see he got an assist and put it down to a good performance.

Poor as he been for a month now. Didn't deserve the start but lucky he got it. Assisted and could have assisted twice, but otherwise he lost the ball carelessly, his pass completion was terrible, he couldn't beat his man, his crosses were poor, he didn't track back and the worst part was, he so easy to defend against like Moses showed when he blocked his terrible cross. Hope sticks with Lingard rather than this guy for the next 2-3 games as Lingard gives so much more even if he doesn't have the same level of talent as Martial. I wouldn't care if he sold to the highest bidder in the summer cuz he is not going to change his attitude and will waste his talent.
