Favorite united player by miles, so so glad he won the Wc today

And then you look at varane, also 25.

2x La Liga
1x Copa del rey
4 x champions league
3x uefa super Cup
3x fifa world club cup

1x World Cup

It’s disgusting eh.

I don’t think cannavaros performances in the 2006 calendar year were much better than varanes, should at least be in the ballon d’or discussoon given his achievements this year.

Happy for him. Hopefully gives him a huge confidence boost, so much fecking talent and just needs to put it all together which he did in periods during the world cup.

I also hope that he never leaves man utd. He was one of the France's best player today. The commentator didn't acknowledge his pass on the 3'rd goal

Spot on....
Its really not. He was far more self indulgent playing for United, whilst France he was playing with discipline, maturity, grit, sacrifice. How many times did he, take pointless long shots, dilly dally on the ball, dribble in his own half, let other players track markers, showboat, stroll around the pitch, shun defensive duties?
there seemed a big attitudinal change in this tournament and his decision making improved with it

Good point, he's certainly played this tournament with the right amount of respect for the occasion, he like a lot of our players took to the pitch expecting to beat sides last season which ended up biting us on the arse

There is surely lot of maturity in his game in this world cup, but he is far from the player you describe in your every post. If anyone reads your post and never watched Pogba, they would think he is Bebe like player.

Nevile already trying to validate his past criticisms of Pogba.
Please explain his hair colour choice one more time Gary

I'm surprised people can't see the maturity shift. The bolded especially. Rather put this way, if Pogba played this way it's an absolute certainty he wouldn't have been on the bench against Sevilla. We share some blame as we make everyone look shit but so does Pogba

Edit: just realised who I'm quoting

Well no, because he does this stuff in and amongst doing great/outstanding stuff, thus you have to play him but he will also frustrate you.

He is more entertaining player than frustrating player, for some reason so much has been rewritten. Pogba has such a good season and because of 2-3 poor games, everyone sort of believe he had poor to average season.

So what's with Pogba's full time sign language and Evra's video? Is it to do with his critics or the recent transfer rumors?

So we have a WC winner in our team who played his part in the team winning it. Well done and I hope we can see him help us win a trophy at Man Utd.

Congratulations to him. He was definitely one of The best players in the tournament. Him, Griezmann and Mbappe really turned it on when it was required from them...

come off it. Who said he had an average season? Over the course of 90 minute match some of the decision making in a United shirt, is well below a player of his talents. Often I felt we could not rely on him for the full 90 mins and his manager thought so also.

So over 90 mins he makes some wrong decisions, what a frustrating player.

Id say Pogba had 4 poor games all season. Spurs, Newcastle, West Brom and Brighton.
Certainly nothing out of the ordinary and he was one of our standout players in multiple big games. Fantastic against Arsenal away, City away, Chelsea at Home.

Kante no show today gave Pogba a huge task. I’m a regular critic of PP but he was fantastic in all the big games in this tournament. Motm today, super goal, brilliant defensively, ran the midfield and fed MBappe all day long. Fingers crossed this is the turning point of his career and he now delivers on his talent

No way did pogba have a good season. He started the season off well, got injured and decent in the first half but then 2nd half of the season was more shit then anything. He wouldn't have been dropped and subbed off so many times if this wasn't the case. He was much better in his first season compared to last season, when he was definitely a huge disappointment and there was definitely some issues going on. Picked up a bit at the end of the season with the FA Cup semi but nothing much overall in the end.

His world cup was far, far better then anything he has done for us over a tournament and in big games. Is it down to system and how he's used, type of teammates around him (having Mbappe and Griezmann to link up and have a quality attack) or his own effort? Mix of everything imo.

Did the same gesture after the City comeback too. I hope both of them are aimed entirely at Souness.

Obviously they're not, but its shit-talk like the stuff Souness repeats that is part of the problem. He gets an unfair amount of criticism, probably because of the price tag and his general persona, whilst many forget he's a central midfielder with a simple job to do. Yet when he keeps it simple and does the job of a CM, he's slated for not being a match winner. When he plays with freedom and tries to be the match winner, he's slated for not being more of a team player. He just can't win, and will probably still get flack despite being a key part of a World Cup winning team.

I mentioned in another thread at United we don’t have many other players creating chances. At France he also has greizman and mbappe. Mbappe alone allows them to play on the break. We don’t have that at United so build up is slower. I feel pogba takes it on himself to try to create as much as possible leading to poor decisions.

Citing asinine Mourinho squad selections and substitutions exposes your logic. Slating Pogba by way of Mctominay was one of the most baffling and incredulous decisions that Mourinho has made. A player who's so undependable that Kante gets subbed off in the World Cup final leaving the 'complicated' Pogba un-tethered. Anybody that supported that hogwash last season (especially given the fact that he had suffered a big injury and was reported to be sick) should be called on it. I've never in favour of taking off players that can create game defining moments in a split second even if they're performing at sub-optimal levels...when a manager does it with such poor bench options it's even more ridiculous.

After the Australia game, settled down, the whole team had a meeting with Deschamps, came out a new man, no more unnecessary dribbling, no more shit haircuts, just football, ends up scoring the winning goal in the world cup and becomes World Champion. Good stuff. More of this.

That’s the Pogba we all want to see!

Pogba's season was generally good until he was subbed, dropped and criticised (unfairly) by Mourinho within seven days of signing new toy Sanchez. The narrative sort of stuck from then out, even though the first half of the season was generally littered with lots of good performances.
