The women's pro leagues across Europe are only just starting to grow into something significant but still have a lot of development to do. In countries like Argentina their FA offer little support to their women's team, this is something that happens to a greater or lesser extent in most countries still.
In the men's game, if the US did take it seriously,, they'd be playing catch themselves against long established football nations with deep football cultures and first class infrastructure.
They could become a force of course but I don't think it would look anything the women's team dominance.
