The goal was superb, on his weaker left as well. It was only going in like that, Ederson was close.
He was amazing along with Rashford and James. I really enjoyed his maturity in holding up the ball multiple times during the first half to allow time for Lingard and James to make their runs. The goal obviously was well taken with a nice finish at the near post.

He can definitely become a much better player if he keeps doing what he is doing.

Great CF play once again. Links well with James and Rashford and wonderful holdup play as well. Superb finish for the goal.

Outstanding player, great game. Hated the Pereira sub, but maybe Ole thought he didn't have 90 minutes given his recent injury.

We just look a different team when he's on song.

Majority of players were knackered towards the end and barely any of our forwards were getting on the ball, made sense to bring on a midfielder that could drop deeper while Rashford could stay higher up the pitch.

Thing with Martial being Subbed off is that he plays like a midfielder anyway - literally one of the only other players who can bring others in to play smoothly.

Soon as he comes off both possession and counter attacking ability goes off for a bit of A midfield all rounder focusing on the same things?

It just makes it twice as hard for the team like city to attack knowing they got Martial and Lingard up top centrally or even deeper because they are able to bring Rashford & James in to play compared to a player like Pereira who they can play around with ease right in the centre of midfield.

I really don't like the tactic unless it's something to do with an injury issue.

Game-winning goal from him. Just don't understand why he catches so much flak at times.
He’s in a group of players that even when playing well, are always a game or two away the negativity engulfing the conversation.

I like Roy but come on what's that nonsense about getting rid of Martial if he doesn't win us a trophy get us top four...

Build up to the goal was better than the finish. The touch, holding the defenders, turning them as well. Excellent goal.

That goal is basically showing why i always wanted him on no9 (and Rash on the wing).
He is not thinking much in penalty area. One or two touches and shot without thinking is it weaker foot.
But one thing bugs me; did he lose some pace? I know that Walker is fast fecker but in one situation Walker was twice faster than Martial.

His holding up play today was phenomenal. City really struggled to take away the ball from his feet and Martial was able to control the ball very well under pressure.

Don't think we've had as good a striker at holding up the ball since Lou Saha. This guy is top notch with his back to goal. He is so strong.

Even Walker could catch Rashford. Walker is just fast fecker. But I also realised this season he hasn’t been very quick as when he used to play on the wing.

He seems a lot more comfortable with his weaker foot this season. Great game from him.

Our attack is so much better with him in the middle beacause of his top notch cloase control, creativity and goal threat. Superb goal today

He has more talent in one of his feet than the whole attack combined. If only he had an elite mentality

Who's to say he doesn't? He's scored some big goals in his career. Scored today in a Manchester derby in fact.

Always been a bit sceptical on his credentials as a number nine but that first half hour today was unbelievable . Hold up play, runs, winning headers, link up, everything. With him it’s always going to be a case of getting him to have this approach to games all the time.

His mentality has been great over the past few seasons, having to fight for and win his position multiple times. People also forget that he hasn't played a lot of football ever since his first season. Still has a lot more heights to reach, both technically and physically.

Great goal. The interplay between him Rashford and James (and Lingard) is great to watch at times.

Great creative and penetrative play with James and the finish after was inch perfect. Dangerous player and much more from him to look forward to. I love that he has become a lot more aggressive since moving into the striker position, it is needed there. Needs to anticipate crosses even better and be even more aggressive if he is to continue longterm but no reason to doubt it will come, imo. Just turned 24, so the consistency should come soon.
