A bit raw and definitely needs a loan, but he's clearly talented. I'd like to see him break into our squad over Dan James in the coming years. However, just making it here as a squad player is a big ask. Competing with Rashford, Sancho, Greenwood, Amad, Pellistri et al.

He's already a better player than James. We really should be getting him a loan at a top Championship/lower PL side.

Kid can play. Desperately needs a loan. Don't think he'd be a guaranteed starter for a PL side. He just needs to play games in a packed stadium where things are on the line.

Championship? I saw Feyenoord a few days ago shit themselves in the conference league without a striker. Could be a good fit.

It's good to see him doing well. The point of the youth system isn't entirely to produce players for Man United and nobody else. It's a good source of income when we sell them on and developing loads of players every year is good too. Occasionally, 1 or 2 like Rashford and Greenwood break through and make it fully. Others will have decent careers but I'd be shocked at United, given we just signed Sancho, signed Amad last summer who is younger than Elanga, and all the other wingers are young too.

I really like Elanga. I'd genuinely sell James and give him all his minutes. He's a far higher calibre of player with the same speed.

I was very very impressed with him today. His touch and dribbling were very good.

I think he can have an impact for a team like Brighton. Maybe a little optimistic.

He has steadily gotten better. Which I think is a huge reason to be optimistic about him.

Really looks an excellent prospect. I hope he gets a loan move to a club where he will play consistently week in, week out.

We will buy a CF next season who will compete with Greenwood up top. Martial will be sold.

I think James, Lingard, Chong and Pereira should be sold. For the attacking midfield and wing we have Bruno, Rashford and Sancho. Amad is a sure bet.

The rest two spots will be filled up by any two between Pellistri, Mjebri, Shoretire and Elanga. My bet is on Mjebri and Shoretire.

Some good, some not so good. He's a kid. Experience will bring him on. Plenty of time on his side.

He’s an very explosive player once he gets out of the initial reservation and nerves. Defenders always have to stay alerted when he’s around.

Whether he scores or not you can see that he always bring chances with both his on and off the ball movement.

He'll probably fade in shadow of Amad & Pellistri, but so far he tries to impress hard and tbh he's doing not too bad.

Hopefully won't give up easily, he certainly got few goals in him.

Clearly raw but exciting every time he gets the ball, always trying something positive and forward thinking. Reminds me of Mane abit.

Better how? Give me the evidence, or is it just another unproven opinion, like when Williams was better than Shaw?

He might not be better right now but it's not such a controversial opinion.

James is pretty one dimensional really. He's kick and rush, and looks for any opportunity to go to ground.

Elanga is almost as quick and already looks more capable of handling himself. I still think a loan is his best bet for this season but if he demonstrates he can use the ball well it's arguable he's already more useful for us than James is.

As opposed to those proven opinions, hey?

In terms of movement, technique, control, dribbling. Feel free to tell me how James is better. Looking forward to how many ways you can dress up 'experience.'

He’s more proven and has done more in his career. That’s a fact.
Williams was ‘better’ than Shaw not so long ago on the Caf, I much prefer waiting and not getting giddy like so many do on here. Elanga may become a better player, or he may fade into nothingness, who knows if he’s the next Bellion or Rashford? As he’s proven nothing other than he’s a decent prospect.

The difference is pretty negligible right now. If we had the opportunity to cash in on James and promote Elanga in his place I would take that deal though.

The Williams/Shaw stuff was genuinely batshit, this isn't the same.

Very exciting youngster. Still would love to see him in the eredivisie where he can showcase his attacking talent.

If there's a Bundesliga club then I think we should let him go, I don't think a PL/Championship loan would be good for him though (can't see him getting the games)

So, 'experience' then?

Yes, he has proven he isn't good enough for us. That's abundantly clear. James has produced very little in the ~50 games he has played for the club. I'm very confident if you give his minutes to Elanga we'd see more.

I mean, it's great and all that you're having to conflate my opinion of a player with that of the caf in order to make your point, but please do try and keep it separate.

I think there's a bit of balance to be struck here with the whole 'older and more proven = definitely better'. Was Dan James better than Mason Greenwood before the latter became a regular in our team? I'm not so sure and I'm not suggesting that Elanga is a Greenwood level talent, but perhaps you deemed Greenwood to be too much of an unknown quantity at the time in comparison to the seasoned Championship performer in James?

Proven isn’t experience. And your opinion isn’t a fact.

Lad has more potential I’d agree. But he’s proven nothing thus far. I’d be fine with James leaving, but Ole seems to like him.

Not really, I think James was seen as low risk in terms of the fee. We could easily recoup that…just!
