Delighted to see Elanga finish it after getting hit in the head with a coin. Should have put it to bed before that but all's well that ends well.

One good finish one poor finish. His run for Fred's goal was vital as well. He opened the space for Ronaldo to drop into to receive the pass from Bruno. Doesn't happen without his run.

Still not convinced but as long as he keeps working hard, making runs, he'll get chances to show what he's about.

Missed an absolute sitter but did well for his goal especially after being hit by a missile by the Leeds scum. Can't be missing sitters like that though.

Really happy for him, especially missing the chance earlier.

Question for everyone that watched him in youths - how was his finishing? Very, very poor for his first, better for his second - but he went for placement rather than smashing it both times - was that how he was at youth level too?

A lot of comparisons to Martial when it comes to his finishing, the goal he scored is actually reminiscent of the types of goals he scored at the youth level. He's pretty highly rated in that regard so I'm not so concerned if he's missing some chances here and there, it's partially confidence and finding his feet.

Here's hoping he can be Martial with the workrate.

Glad he scored; not convinced by the finish, on another day the keeper might have saved it. Very poor left foot shot straight at the keeper wasted earlier big chance from Sancho's pass.

To be honest the match thread is full of strange emotions and desperation. No sense, thought through opinions or logic.

I would pick Elanga any day before Lingard, Rashford (this season) and Greenwood (obviously not a choice any more). Simply because Elanga gets the basics right and is of huge value defensively.
We havent seen that much of Elanga yet but he has had moments (games) where you wonder if he has the quality to be a long term Manchester United player. I like that he gets a chance but so far i would pick a Rashford at his best over Elanga at his best. That is based on what they have shown in the past though, at the moment i would pick Elanga since Rashford hasnt had a good game since... forever?

He has changed my opinion tbh. I thought Hannibal, Amad etc were way more talented and he was just a pace merchant but he's been really solid.

Just to have the confidence to place the finish instead of blasting it (after he tried to place it once and fecked up already) was great!

Yes that's what I thought also for both shots.

As others have said, he's playing with confidence, is positionally good as he finds himself on the ends of chances and works hard but I'm expecting a bit more in the build up play/on the ball.

As a sub though for 10-30mins, he's a good option for sure.

Love this guy. Goes forward, has pace and a footy brain. Hope he is a fixture in the team and gives Rashford some competition.

thanks! He’s still young - let’s hope he can perfect it as he’s constantly finding himself in good positions

Love this man and I’m delighted he scored today. High hopes and just please don’t turn out to be a complete idiot off pitch (it’s sad but I can’t help but think about this)

Didn’t even twig he was pointing down as in relegation. Ban incoming for inciting the crowd, £100,000 fine for Cavani and a four match ban for you know who.

He's obviously got ability, whether it's the ability of a starter at United it remains to be seen, but he's actually contributing so it's showing that Rangnick's justified in trying to integrate him into the team.

I like the kid. Showed great desire too to bounce back from missing that earlier easy chance too- great character.

I like that he hasn’t burst onto the scene like Rashford & the other guy.
I’m not looking for him to be a generational talent, just a reliable squad player.

Not convinced by the finish. Went through the keepers legs.

Very poor shot earlier as well.

He’s doing fine for a teenager thrown into a dysfunctional team. It’s a downgrade from Greenwood at the moment but not a problematic one.

Yeah if he’s willing to keep running his socks off in the way he’s come into the team and not get caught up in his own hype, he’ll have a spot for a while.

He’s obviously doesn’t have the natural ability of excellent finishing, or scoring on every single debut like our previous youth players to come through, which might in turn keep him a bit more humble and honest in how he plays. Fingers crossed anyway.

3 PL goals in 11 matches is nothing to sniff at either

Ah c’mon now. That’s a fairly standard choice of finish. I remember when United played Bayern in the CL and all of our attacking players were briefed in advance that the most effective one v one finish against Neuer was through his legs, only for Welbeck to try and fecking chip him

So pleased for him. After that horrible lot hit him with whatever the object was. Him showing the badge to their fans was a beautiful moment.

I still maintain the Mane comparison in terms of style. That’s what we should be trying to mould him into.

2 goals on his first season - so far not bad at all

After his goal he silenced the white scum like a true Mancunian - Pure shithousery

He is 19 playing in PL for last 2 months. I wonder from where these technique post are coming from. He hasn’t played enough to make proper judgment. And in reserves he was pretty good.

Seems a useful option at the end of games. It's kind of justifying the faith RR showed in him and why he seemingly wasn't too upset about Martial. Having a young player busting a gut to impress and with some pace is absolutely ideal for a manager in that situation.

Whether he has every attribute to be a future nailed on first teamer I really don't know and at this stage probably requires too much guesswork. It's better just to let it be and see how he develops.

I agree with this. Rangknick signed Mane for RB Liepzig so I'm sure he sees some of the same qualities in Elanga as well. He's one player from the young group I'm really excited about.
