If Labour don’t effectively weaponise this against Sunak in the next election they’re even more useless than I thought.

Wait, so people setup fake companies to claim furlough money for fake staff? And the government are just waiting this off? How is this not bigger news?

Feck next election. Something is seriously wrong with th our democracy if such a crime can't be investigated now. We need a constitution and we need institutions that have teeth. This is fecked up.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of this money disappeared out of the country and is basically untraceable. Something like accounts set up using a VPN. All the more embarrassing to admit it. I wonder who these now incredibly rich criminals are

Not what the polls are saying.
Mid term, after a series of feck ups confirming undeniable corruption and incompetence so big they're visible from space, with living standards crashing, and a decade into standard entitled, contemptuous and cruel Tory bastardry and the brief poll lead is already eroding fast...and that's with BJ still in charge and the emergency party reputation laundering option on the table.

Labour will certainly close the gap however the Tories will win the next GE, barring some staggering and unprecedented turn of events, and in your bones you know it. Maybe in eight years, Labour have a shot at it and they can get on with shaming drug users, shooting suspects first and asking questions later and being "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime" and other such policies of integrity.

If the Labour Party was lead by anybody else it would be 20 points ahead in the polls.
Understand that. As I have said before, he does have some limitations. But I do wonder whether some of the public have got fed up with personality politics and would prefer a more considered leader.
Time will tell.

Classic right wing criticism of the left, pinning all responsibility to campaign against oppression on them, while seemingly accepting it's fine for the right to not give a shit.

How can we not be reminded of today’s identitarian Left? All across the Anglosphere, it is obsessed with historic wrongs, genuine or invented. But where are the student demonstrations protesting against the fate of the Uyghurs? Or against modern slavery in the Gulf? Or the persecution of “blasphemers” in several Muslim states? Easier to pull down a forgotten statue or change the name of a university building.

So is BJ just gonna survive partygate?
Think he will. He‘s got a massive majority in the house and can afford a few detractors.

He’ll humbely pay his fines and Labours obsession with partygate will eventually fade away.

That day will never come. Even when Labour do eventually win they will probably go a few public inquiries where they embarrass the Tories and those involved will get away with it.

I have zero confidence in Labour doing much of any good, even in the unlikely event they win.

He's ending covid and doing the war prime minister act so yeah he'll have a poll boost. They've pushed it so long that I'm not sure people will care when the police and gray report are released.

I can’t really get my head around this. If I went to an office and someone next to me said they had Covid, I’d walk straight out. Not that they would actually know without free testing.

Edit. Probably the wrong thread, so I’ll add this on the end to make it political. I just spoke to my dad, who is the most anti-thatcher Labour voter you can imagine. He said he never thought he’d see the day there was someone worse than her in charge.

More than a third of this country is happy to be led by boris. After everything. Words fail me.

I like that Farage and Aaron Banks are instantly defending Russia, yep they’re absolutely not on their payroll, no way.

The nation was influenced by the way a man ate a bacon butty, never underestimate the stupidity of the british public.
