Don’t have much else to say, apart from the fact that I will support the manager no matter what, even if we are in 17th place come April.

There is a severe rot within this playing squad that needed to be removed, and new culture to be created. As long as we progress on that path, I am happy. Results don’t matter anymore. These frauds have to go.
Won't happen due to daft money that Toy Story puppet and his uni sidekick put them on

It is useless, the culture is so bad now that nothing we do can change it unless a new owner comes in with an open cheque book. Just look at Chelsea, how much the new owner is willing to spend? I hope Glazer see this as a sinking ship and decided it is time for a change of direction than perhaps things can improve. We need whole new squad, I mean we need literally another 7-8 new quality players. New keeper, new RB, new CB, 2 new CM, 1 RW, 1 ST. That's how bad this overhaul. Transfer budget of at least 400 mil which Glazer won't sanction.
Yeah open chequebook or we are finished

Yeah 7 new players definitely required and that's just going to be for the first XI

A little bit too late for that. For example, he could have given the club more midfield targets to sign earlier.
How do you know he didn't?
Also, why would it be on Ten Hag to provide targets? That's what the club's scouting apparatus is supposed to be for. If Ten Hag has to provide actual names, that's already a sign of things not working.
We knew most of the players on his list early on.
That's assuming that whatever rumours were floating around really constituted a reliable and (fairly) complete list of Ten Hag's recruitment wishes. To my knowledge, there is absolutely zero evidence of that. It's all conjecture.

Is there any proof that longer distance ran = better results?
I don’t know about the stats on that but it’s indicative of the level of effort put in. Pick any of the last 20 goals we’ve conceded and in almost any one of them you could highlight multiple players just strolling around and not even bothering to track runners, press, nothing. It’s no wonder we ship so many goals, they just daydream through games. This team is a calamity.

This team has buried the club's name

The problem is not just the structure, its also the people occupying the positions. We let go Chief scouts and the head negotiator just before the transfer window and have not brought in the replacement. Whose brilliant idea was to wait this long?
The DoF is happy to go with the manager’s recommendations and that is a big problem. Its a convenient way to solve the problem of the current transfer window by putting all the accountability and responsibility of identifying targets on the manager.
Let's hope its not the blind leading the blind.

I have said that many times already here that the club seems to rely on the manager to come up with most of the targets because they are incapable of doing that. But this thread is about ETH. So, I focused on the fact that he did not seem to have the necessary experience to rebuild the squad at this level.

The point is that the media linked us with a lot of players in every window. We would be linking with players that we don't even actually link with. That means, usually, we would be linking tons of players.

This summer, the number of players we were linked to in the media was very small until a week ago. The fact that with whom we signed and whom we targeted from "reliable sources" will tell you that we did have limited targets earlier on.

The media would have learned about them in a matter of days if we had had a lot more targets, which did not occur.

The conclusion here for me is that we had extremely limited targets earlier this summer for a major rebuilding job which was again confirmed by his own comments of signing the right players only or he would train some players from the current squad for the positions and playing style he needed. It kind of backfired and he can't put this mess on the club alone.

The rebuild looks a non starter

No-one does though. It's squarely on the club if they have to rely entirely on the coach (whoever it is) to come up with targets. You can't blame a coach for not also being a scout.

Possibly, but it's still conjecture - just like a significant percentage of linkages (United's or any club's) never has any to do with a club's actual interests, but may be due to a player or another club pushing a story to make something happen (not even necessarily a move to the club in question).

We don't know, and we'll never know, if ETH demanded players who worked with him before, in order to implement his system faster and achieve a top-4 finish this year. We have no idea who asked for what, who insisted what, who decided what. And we will never know.

We have a lot of examples from the past. We still don't know if Ole wanted VDB or someone else decided to get him. There was a lot of speculation about this, but we don't know the truth.

We definitely know that ETH wanted Malacia and Martinez. I don't think we'd get those two with any other manager. But we don't know if ETH demanded them, or if he merely suggested a few players because there were no other good suggestions from the club.

I hope this is false. Who would dare to comes here anymore! We are becoming like Real or Chelsea without the success. We sacked managers, changed players and our standards keep dropping. Where else Real or Chelsea does the same and they kept maintaining their standards.

We definitely were not 4-0 down after 35 minutes because we didn’t run, I agree.
Which is not actually the point. You have to have standards at the football club and falling that much behind your opponents in terms of effort should have consequences. Regardless of the result.

I accept that if things don't improve by October he will probably have to go but I hope to god we don't replace him with Poch.

As long as we kept on doing the same routine non will change.

Our current XI is rotten to the core mentally and attitude wise, they're beyond salvage.

No matter what the tactics, what the approach, they just don't give a feck. They've stopped caring along time ago (starting on Jose, intensified by Ole and run amok under Rangnick). Now the termites is spreading all over the house, there's no cure other than chopping the whole XI and field a new XI Starting from scratch.

even if FDJ comes at this rate he'll be infected and 2 years from now we'd be looking at the next Fred.

It's not a report, it's Richard Keys's insane opinion on Talksport which was then regurgitated by the Express.

Definitely not Shaw, Bruno, Maguire or Rashy.
Those 4 are some of the first that need to be out of the door nevermind starting, if he sticks with them for the 3rd game in a row and beyond then i have no sympathy at all he deserves what is coming to him its not like Malacia, Donny, Varane and Garnacho can be any worse at least they will try.

Edit: Ultimately patience is running out for the same players this is supposed to be a rebuild.

Are you serious?
Last October, under the pressure from some fans and media, they let go Ole. The season finished disastrously. All the plans were abandoned.
Now, October again, the nonsense continues? Manchester United will be called October Separated.

I must admit that I don't like some of his decisions. In fact they could be indicators that he is not ready for this team and challenge. But then again one of his strengths is that he has been able to squeeze production from players and find solutions. He is flexible and very strong schematically. So some of these decisions undoubtedly were set up by poor transfer portal performance and him electing to challenge his players and see who can do what.

That feeling out period is going to last a little while. And it needs to. Start in goal for example. He's going to challenge De Gea and try to elevate his play in the areas he needs him to perform. It may come to pass that he cannot play well enough in the usage the coach requires. But he also might overcome the challenge and emerge on the other side a stronger and more confident goalkeeper. Midfield I have to think someone is brought in. There are clearly no miracles that will alleviate those issues in-house.

Way I look at it this the team was badly in need of someone to elevate the knowledge of the organization. He wasn't hired to turn the team around immediately. He was hired to be the core of the team's business model so allowing him time and beginning the build around his vision is the key here I think.
100% agree.

He shouldn't go anywhere before Murtough and Fletcher. ETH wasn't at the club last season and didn't have a first hand account of how poor the team was. The point of having football directors was supposed to be continuity so the process doesn't start all over when we hire a new man. Those two witnessed all that, were warned by Rangnick, fans and everyone's grandma and still came into the season with more of the same. They didn't even have any ideas on how to refresh the squad in the transfer window. Just deferred everything to ETH.

It's amazing the mindset of some fans. They expect miracles the moment a manager walks in the door. And then want to get rid of him the moment there is a blip or a down cycle.

No wonder they are hysterical or angry all the time when they live in a fantasy world.

We have to stick with the plan. Now we are completely rudderless. At least have a style for play to aim at. We have to get rid of players who cannot adapt to this style of play and play those who are willing and able to make the transition. ETH's job is to identify which is which. We can't go into this new philosophy half heartedly. All or nothing baby!

The problem are the players, even if we sack ETH, hire Poch/Klopp/Pep or bring Fergie back, these players will not change. Sack the players first and give the manager what he wants and after that judge the manager.

I very much doubt he made ever player run over 8 miles less than a day after a game. Asking for injuries.
Why wouldn’t he? If the players get injured then so be it… means the same crap players will have no choice but to miss the next game… if they turn up like that every week then they deserve it… ten Hag won’t stand for performances like that when they just abandoned his game plan.

And who do you suggest we replace him with?
Doesn’t matter what manager we have… If ten Hag leaves I wouldn’t even bother getting another manager..: I’d just say to the players, seen as though you don’t like listening to anyone and taking orders then your on your own… do whatever you like. That’s what they do anyway.

That would be a dream-come-true for most of the players: Earning fat salary with practically no boss and responsibility.

What is this obsession with EtH walking?

Not only does it seriously damage EtH’s reputation (effectively running away when things get tough) but it just plunges us further snd further away from the top 2

What elite manager is going to come to Man Utd if the most exciting young manager decides to walk 3 games into the season. No one will.

Some of you lot live in FM land.
Ten Hag is not a young manager.
