He was probably asked to come on in the final minutes and considered it an insult. If he'd been asked to come on in the 70th minute, say, I doubt he'd refuse.
He might've seen it as a punishment after the way he reacted when he was subbed against Newcastle.

All he is bothered about is his legacy, his goalscoring record. That is why I was glad Benzema got his award, all those years he did all the donkey work for Ronaldo.
Funny enough, almost all of Benzema's ex-teammates congratulated him and paid tribute to him publicly for his B'Dor win.

The glaring omission until now? You guessed it

Par for the course though for that egomaniac

If we got rid, we would probably save 7m in wages that we could use. I hear Marcus Thurum is a free agent next summer, we could test that with 10m to 15m bid in Jan but then again, I've no idea if he would fit into ETH system. We need the right players not any player.
Never heard of him but at this point I’d rather take a chance on McNeil than have him back in the squad.

I’m sorry, but Southgate managed to get us to a semi final and final in the past 2 tournaments and is factually our most successful manager since Alf Ramsey. So considering this fact the only poster looking challenged is you.
Not saying I’m a fan of Southgate’s over cautious tactics. But to state that if you don’t agree he’s shit for England then you don’t understand the game is completely idiotic.
This is the idiotic thing Im talking about. Absolute daft conclusions because he "got us to a semi and a final".

No one evaluates ths relative strength of the opposition, the performances the fecking easy run he had. Noone wants to recognise the immense advantage he had of hosting the euros, etc.

He beat Colombia on pens, bundled over Sweden and still lost to what, Croatia was it?

But yeah he got us to a semis. So great  yeah right. He was shit and he still is.

Same as Ole by the way, but for a different thread.

I’m actually looking forward to him rocking up at Chelsea and unleashing chaos. Ronaldo and Aubamayeng is a recipe for fireworks.

"Martial...He's isolated Skrtel here..."
Even if Martial is fit its not something you can use as a basis for anything. I think the flex might be more beneficial to the squad than a petulant peripheral player rowing in the opposite direction.
Exactly. It's not even "that risky" either because Ronaldo was never going to start and he's not been effective at all this year anyways.

I do think the entire situation is made much easier by Ronaldo not being good in front of goal this year. The detractors would have much more ammo if he was still scoring at a good rate even if his overall game took a nose dive. Now at this point everyone is like "sure feck off" because he's been terrible anyways.

Well done by the club and the manager. Hope we don't see this twat playing for us again, don't care how good he is (was), can't pull shit like this. It undermines the manager, the club and his colleagues in a really bad way.

Also, what a way to send a message to the rest of the players. If Ronaldo can be dropped out of the squad, no one is safe.

Buttered toast then. He'll be lucky if he gets a kick in our next 7 games. Probably a start against Sheriff at best.

Need to get him off the books in January and sign a striker, otherwise top four wont happen.

As of now the only place for him is in MLS or Portugal.

One time my college coach tried to sub me in in the 89th minute and I proceeded to pretend to be trying to tie my shoes until he eventually just yelled nevermind. I'm basically exactly like Ronaldo.
Guess who's not getting picked for the Chelsea game now? You did this to yourself.

Good stuff.
Absolutely no excuses. We have a great team with a fantastic spirit, everyone is fighting together for every ball, every tackle, celebrating in a way that undoubtedly intimidates the opponents. And who can’t look at the spirit of this team & not think of some of teams under SAF, even how we surround the ref etc.

Tried to be as open minded about him walking off as I could, but if this is true he needs removing from the positive environment that we have.

Maybe now we'll get that statement Ronaldo promised us (but never delivered) during the summer.
I think he will do one of those vague "You will all know the true story soon" posts but then again he is a desperate man who has nothing to lose so maybe he will actually spill the beans.

Big mistake bringing him back. Lot of money and almost zero return.

Great to see Erik laying down the law - ‘nobody bigger than the club’ etc etc. Nice to have a manager with some stones on him.

We clearly are a far better team without him, even if we end up short for the next few months.

Pains me to say it a bit but - good riddance

Part of me hopes there's a way back from this but I don't think his ego would allow him to be humble and accept he is the problem and apologise. To ETH, the players and the fans.

Yes agree. I cant remember any player or manager off the top of my head who went back to a club in the Premier and was as successful as before. The fact is time has caught up with him. Alarm bells should have sounded when he tried to move in the summer and missed pre season. Fault is definitely with him and the board, as they should have also let him go on a free. Now 450k a week millstone is around TH head and when you walk down memory lane in future, its this version of Ronaldo you will remember first, not the one pre RM.
That's the thing, shenanigans in the summer were ridiculous but he didn't get his move and he had a chance to knuckle down, try to earn his match time and place in the side. Instead he's reacted badly to every slight setback and is arguably damaging his own preparations for the world cup into the bargain. He's a fecking moron.

This is ridiculous. We should really consider terminating his contract and he's free to go wherever he wants. We save a shit ton of money and get rid of a negative influence on the team.

Just I typed this, still can't believe it's about Cristiano Ronaldo.

It would cost up a shit load of money, but it would be worth it.

Ten Hag putting an end to player power. Ole would have released a statement apologising to Ronaldo

A scan of Twitter alerts me to the fact that a significant minority of Ronaldo fans blame ETH and everyone else for what is happening.

Unfortunately they have had some sway over our owners and are part of the problem. If they would feck off from our club I would hope Ronaldo would follow soon after.

Hopefully the United mouthpieces I.e his mates, don't back him here. But who am I kidding?

You don't refuse to come on and go off on a strop. Doesn't matter who you are.

The ironic thing being that all his ex team mates in the media wouldn't tolerate it either.

Mendes needs to do his fecking job and find his client a club this January.

I'm sure we will let him go for literally nothing. Its not us who are holding up the move.
Who knows but I was thinking more Glazers wanted a transfer fee.

Either way it's untenable now.

A complete and utter t*at. He should have never returned, really ruined his legacy.

Hot take - if he never came last summer, Ole would have been in charge at least until the end of last season.

Rio sometimea confuses words. Here is some help:

Rio: ‘The only reason for not playing Ronaldo against Spurs, is if Ten Hag wants to save a goalless draw for the weekend’

Rio: ‘He should start more often than not. They should fire him. I don’t what I think.’

Rio: ‘The problem you have when being a manager, is that you have to think carefully about what you do. That’s why I’m not a manager.’

Rio: ‘United won 2-0 against Tottenham, and all I want to talk about is Ronaldo. That can’t be right’
You are correct. Rio also wanted to carry the mantel piece instead of the mantle.

Love Rio for the player he was for us, but he talks a lot of shite, and isn't worth listening to (like most other ex-players).

Can't wait for this prick to leave. And I hope to god we've learned, and never make a mistake like this again.
I'll make an exception for Roy Keane. Give him a pre-season and he'll be raring to go.

On a serious note, Ronaldo's performing at the levels of Nicklas Bendtner, with an ego several times bigger. Will be glad to see the back of him.
