Scholes was spot on about that 'Skill' tonight , it added nothing , had no real function and is not really a skill. You could see ETH was not impressed by it either,

But it is no big deal , he will grow out of that.

Many of us will remember when Ronaldo came here first he was doing all these needless step overs that added no value to his or the teams game , even Roy Keane referenced it the other day saying how the it would annoy the other players as well when he was doing them.

But Ronaldo grew out of it and so will Anthony.
Teenager Ronaldo at least knew how to progress the f***ing ball, He was the most prolific dribbler in europe with Ronaldinho, and he knew how to cross the ball very well too. Antony is scared to take his guard for a run, He's not doing a good wingplay.

I think it's simply stupid and embarrassing. Almost all trickery has some purpose. Standing alone and just circling to show ball control when it has no purpose......
I love watching players do awesome tricks during practice but in the game where you play against much weaker team.....

So annoying how the commentators tried to make a big deal out of him being subbed off just because he did some skill. Don't they realise Ten Hag wouldn't of bought him from Ajax if something like that is gonna piss him off
Yeah, they annoyed me, I wanted Antony to keep fecking spinning just to annoy the cnuts.

The 'trick' didn't even annoy me. It was poor crossing once again that made me angry.

He seems like a player that is going to get goals but not many assists.
His crossing was his best attribute at Ajax though.

Did not care about the spins.

Slightly disappointing performance was slightly higher on my priority list of things to take from the game.

Would be funny if he did the spin again next match just to annoy everyone who was annoyed by todays spin

Chances are that he will actually do it

he really shouldn’t in the epl or he might risk a bad tackle coming his way. He is skilled enough to be able to dribble past opponents there’s really no need for two spins against weak opposition like that. You want to humiliate an opponent assist or score, or if you want to show off a move use it to dribble past someone and cross. But what he did there like scholes said was a bit clown like and pointless.

Hope he keeps doing it just to annoy the miserable fecks.
The overreaction reminds me of Eamon Dunphy on irish tv years ago going mad every week about Ronaldo being a clown and a show pony and he'll never be a great player

People can criticize the spinning trick being pointless, but I just love to see him doing that trick on the pitch.

It's easy to enjoy it now because we won, but it'd be a different story if we hadn't.
Then lets criticize it when we don't then. Sometimes people have to let the attacking player with flair to do their thing, and let them express themselves freely on the pitch. Antony has played well so far this season for us, its not like he has been doing it all the time and we loss.

Why? It was a moment that took 2 seconds and didn't make any difference to the outcome either way. It was a bit of fun, who cares. I think if he connects the pass to Casemiro or whoever was making the run then no one would have anything to say about it.

More of this please Antony, just to upset the bed wetters.
Funny how the BT pundits were claiming they love to see last minute winners such as Kane's being given (despite it being offside) because of the excitement of football, yet simultaneously denouncing a skillful player having fun and being skillful on the pitch.

Was pretty stupid and random given it was still 0 0 but u cannot fault the confidence of Antony. Its also not the worse thing in the world, ETH will make sure it dont happen again when there is still everything to play for. I would love this guy to start crossing with his right foot too.

I watched the replay, he actually had purpose with his eyes looking around to find a pass. I very much enjoy that spin. It’s fantastic!

Id hate it if he did it with the game being 3-0, i love it when players do tricks when drawing or loosing. What I don’t like at all is that it offers nothing for the team. It could though, it would be great if he’s under pressure and could leave the player behind with the spin.

This reminds me of the Richarlison juggling sh#thousery, love it. Should be more of it, just to wind up Carragher, he will be spitting at kids in no time after watching that.

Never change, Antony. Piss off to anyone who feels outraged by a bit of needless showboating in football.

I just chuckle to myself when I think about him doing the spin on the pitch, in an actual game, for no apparent reason. What a legend.

Kinda wish our ex-players would just shut up tbh. All they've done is add negativity ever since they retired, except when their mate Ole was here.

If he crossed that ball after spins, everyone would talk differently now.

That's exactly it. What he did is just not impressive at that level. There was no one near him, he didn't achieve anything with it that he couldn't have done normally. The Sheriff goalie would also be able to do this trick if no one's nearby and there are no consequences to losing the ball at that spot.

No he did not. I don't mind the spin at all but nobody can pretend he had a purpose and was looking for a pass when he did a trick that made him loose track of his teamates movements half the time when he was spinning.

The only purpose was entertainement, and that's OK.

You could argue it does have purpose. You can see it’s winded people up on here and the commentators watching the match. If that’s the case, then it could easily wind up the person marking him and goad them into rash challenges or just lose concentration. It does work on some. So you can’t say, for definite, it had no purpose.

Only embarrassing part is people losing their shit for a simple move.

It has all been over blown. But Sheriff were sitting so deep it was looking hard to break them down. I thought I must have missed a whistle or something, don’t think I ever saw someone with that much time un challenged so far up the pitch. Doing a spin in their half sorta highlights the opposition’s lack of ambition to play the game, maybe annoys or distracts them a bit.

I love that little piece of skill. Mainly because it seems to boil the oppositions fans blood so thats always good.

Incredible really how nuts pundits and fans in england go about stuff like that. how does anyone feel so strongly about that?

I want him to only do tricks from now on, in situations useful and pointless alike. No normal running or passes, just rainbow flicks and spins.

Scholes can foock off, honestly. That was a little bit of showboating which did no harm to anybody, whilst providing some entertainment.

For me the skill was fun to watch, hopefully he does it again against tougher teams starting with Westham but this time does it beating two players and scoring a goal just so the media can piss off.
