The fact that we can start that weakened team and still look like we know what we're doing speaks volumes for his coaching ability. Best thing to happen to United in a long time, delighted he's our manager.

Never expected form like this. Hope this doesn't turn out to be a negative, if we dip form and the fans now expect the earth. Still need to remain patient and pray the new owners don't bin him.

I posted a thread about how we should try and get him as manager many months before we signed him and Ole was still at the wheel. I got slaughtered  specially by the Ole in lot.
So glad I was right.
From what I remember it wasn't so much that people didn't want EtH, it was skepticism (rightfully imo) that he would either agree to join (may have preferred replacing Pep) or that the Glazers would sanction such a move (over a "safer" option such as Pochettino).

Let’s see after the derby if we have really made significant progress after the 6-3
Doubt it'd be another hammering, but it's obvious that we've made a lot of progress even if we end up losing to City and Arsenal. We're aren't the finished article yet.

He seems to have found a way to get stubborn defences to open up which is something we've been appalling at in the last few years.

Its early days yet and there are sterner tests ahead. The big question mark is around squad depth for a few key positions like DM and CM with the depth in attack looking like its close to being resolved - young Garnacho has been a revelation, we are bringing in a stop gap striker and Sancho will come back but can Casemiro and Eriksen take us through the remainder of the season or we are going to be forced to rely more on McFred?

Midfield is where I could see our season unravelling. Guess if push comes to shove we could deploy Licha Martinez to deputize Casemiro with Shaw moving to CB? This is where having someone like Fergie in the building could be helpful, he was a master of the squad rotation game and if given a chance I am sure he would tell ETH of the need to keep his top guns fresh. I am sure, though, that ETH is smart enough to know this himself.

Chelsea is going to sign Felix on loan and we are going for cheap option in Wout.

This could be the different between finishing Top 4 or not. We are really short in quality and quantity in attacking side.
Top 4, Top 4, Top 4….

It’s like an obsession with some of you. Spurs got Top 4 last season, so what? They’re still playing dreadful football, have a negative manager who will probably go back to Italy this summer and they’ve still got a squad of average players.

ETH is building for the long term, he’s changing the entire attitude around the club. I would take finishing 5th if it meant we have a defined style and actual tactics.

We qualified for the CL under LvG, Jose and Ole. It was just papering over the cracks.

My brother asked me when Ole was still in charge and we were losing left right and centre and just generally being shit what I would do if I was in charge. I said I would sign Ralf Rangnick as caretaker until the summer and sign Erik Ten Hag in the summer and make Rangnick DoF. Was crazy when it looked like we were heading exactly that way except we all know RR didnt work out..

It's pretty obvious why people would want top 4. It makes it easier to attain your top targets if you can offer them champions league football.

Match against City will be a big test and a true indicator if this team has really progressed to the level we want to. So far I am proud of him in many regards but as we all know the only time we can make a real judgement is at the end of the season.

I really don't care a bit about what's going on now it's where we are at when the season has ended that will matter and I hope he will have done well because I want him to stay for as long as possible here as he's a very likeable character and tactically good!

First manager since Sir Alex I am actually fond of.

I have a horrible feeling we're going to get twatted back to reality on Saturday. Let's be honest we've been City's whipping boys for years now. I can only hope ETH is going to change that now.

Don't matter if we get twatted. City has backed Guardiola for years. Our club is about to get sold, we're short on cash for this transfer window and the squad is lacking in depth and quality players in key positions.
Afford Erik the same time and funds and we'll be challenging for major honors.

However IMO we do have enough to come away with a result against City. We're not completely shite.

The question hopefully isn’t whether McFred can do it. It’s whether Casemiro Fred can do it or McTominay Eriksen. Or whatever combo you want.

I think we’ve seen Casemiro Fred has it’s uses. I think McTominay gets used to give Casemiro a 20-30min rest in easier games if we are leading. Fred coming on for Eriksen seems to be a regular sub now around 65-70mins.

We’ve usually found one decent result per season against them. A win takes us within 1pt of City which seems remarkable.

EtH is doing a fantastic job. His mentality, his pressers, brilliant. IMO he is saying the right things all the time. Love listening to him speak. Has us going in a fantastic direction. I finally feel like we have a Manchester United type manager.

My point was/is that it’s not the end of the world. Arsenal haven’t had CL football for years. Look at them now.

It’s a weird fascination that some modern day football fans seem to have. Like it’s a trophy or something. Sure, consistently finishing in the CL places every season is great. But look at last season. People actually wanted Conte just so we could finish 4th. But then what? We’d be stuck with him now, moping around the place.

We need to think long term.

Nah, he isn't mentioned anywhere early on in that thread, when I created a thread about him, hardly anybody wanted him and most disagreed. I can't find the thread now can't remember the title.
Pretty sure I made a thread about Ten Hag potential before everyone else. Although I also can't find the thread now can't remember the title!!! Still it’s nice to see everyone agrees now that I was both right and first.

Yes City in form and United playing below their current standard could be whipping however the record against them in the last 10 matches is not to shabby.

A win on Saturday would be absolutely huge. It would punctuate the good work the manager is doing so far.

We have to go for it at home, but just getting a result of any kind would be pretty acceptable in terms of our objectives.

It is a shame we couldn’t get him earlier. I’ve recently been thinking what our midfield would be like if we still had Pogba, with him playing alongside Casemiro.

Obvs the likelihood would have been Pogba still throwing his toys out of the pram for a move in the summer, but with ETH coming in, calming the storm and creating a brighter outlook, maybe Pogba could have knuckles down again.

Honestly think with Casemiro by his side he could have been amazing provided he avoided any significant injuries.

this Felix obsession is cringe and embarrassing. Have you even read the details of the loan deal to Chelsea? Get a grip!
