Agreed, Antony's only value today was pinning down Zinchenco, once he departed, Zinchenko just moved centrally and started helping Arsenal in dominating the midfield.

Antony has a very long way to go, Ten Hag is playing him because we don't have much of options in the bench.
We can't say that until Pellestri actually gets a real chance. Hopefully Sancho will be back soon, maybe with better form.

His defensive work was excellent, and he did try few things that gives me hope, but his overall contribution to our attacking play is still nonexistent. Needs to be benched.

I mean he wasn't good in the second half but it's still better than this weird obsession of ETH of playing Bruno there.

Antony at least worked pretty well defensively

I really want to trust ETH on this one but my God he's been bad attacking wise in most of the games he's played here.

What's his strenghts supposed to be? He just seems average at everything, not very fast, can't beat a man in thight spaces and he's very one footed.

It maybe is a bitz eraly to fully judge him but he does look like a massive flop. Very very frustrating player and maybe the most one footed player there is. Obviously ETH shoulöd take a chunk of blame for him too.

Lets be honest, Hag has done alot of great things but , outside of wonder boy Rashers, he hasn't got much of a tune from our forward line/offensive players.

Bruno looks half the player, he really does.

He was not as bad. His work rate was top notch and he was on the same level as the rest of our attackers

He's basically like Richarlison but with less goal threat and generally a little bit worse at everything.

Our "massive" buys just never ever work out for us, we need to stop worrying about potential and start buying proven quality.

Not writing Antony off, half a season gone and he will get better.

For me Antony is frustrating because he doesn't try to do anything remotely creative. How can you be a wide player at United and be so...dull.

I'll have to hold back on what i really want to say about him as it's my first post on here, He's so frustrating to watch and i bet even more playing with him, apart from that tracking back and making that tackle on Zinchenko which is one thing he has going for him his workrate tracking back, but as a winger for Manchester United he brings nothing at all going forward even Partey outpaced him,

He's 22 let's hope the boss can bring out what he's seen from him at Ajax to justify him joining us

He can get the crowd going with nice flicks and pacy dribbles, but that's about it. Zero end product.

I thought it was one of his better performances for us this season, although it's still 4/10. He actually managed to take the ball near Arsenal's box a couple times and one time even managed to make a pass for McT to shoot. I was surprised.

He is a nothing player. Get the ball, move a couple of steps, cut in to your left foot, and then run out of ideas. Defenders have figured him out.

There is no difference between what is he doing so far in United and what Lingard did on that position.
Problem is that he is unable to create anything in attack. Can't beat a player, his crossing is poor and he is making bad decisions in counter attack.

I am not giving up from him but at this moment it is not looking good. At all.

Yes. Solid defensively but onedimensional going forward. Very worringly that ETH deemed Antony good enough for us.

Problem is even average players like Demarai Gray or our own Elanga seem to pose some sort of threat, either with some skill or pace, I don’t really see anything with this guy. That’s concerning if we’ve dropped 85m on him, I honestly think Lingard was more effective from the right and that is damning.

Like Daniel James without the pace. Ridiculously lacking in ability. Never going to be good enough.

Hes very very good at keeping the ball, pressing, keeping the shape of the team on the right.

However his inability to beat a man or cause an attacking threat when 1 in 1 is becoming an issue, especially when on the opposite team there is a left footed rw beating players.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I'm wondering whether the smarter move may have been to keep Diallo this season and spend the Antony money on a striker and cm.

As he is here we have to make do.

I was getting cooked when I said he was the worst signing of the season in the Koulibaly thread. I wasn’t trying to gloat or rub it in, but I always felt like the purchase never made much sense. I never gave my reasons because I was a newbie to the forum and didn’t feel my opinion was welcome, but I’ll give you my views.
Antony has no extraordinary qualities to be close to a £100 million signing. He’s not particularly fast, strong or technically secure on the ball. While Koulibaly has been poor, he is struggling in a poor Chelsea. This United side is fast improving, and several players are on form apart from Antony. Coupled with the fact that he was brought in to be a starter for the RW (when Sancho was already bought a large fee) it doesn’t look like a good buy. I honestly feel Diallo could offer a lot more than Antony.

Quite disappointing. At the moment Garnacho and Pellistri should be in serious contention. There's only so long you can prop Antony up as a manager because you spent so much on him. At the moment the solitary argument for Antony is that he may come good and he has been reasonably productive. He is not passing the eye test by any means. In general play he is becoming a hindrance and a block on our attacks.

I still see a lot of ability in him but bar the little tricks when under no threat he isnt really doing anything. He is having a bad run of form on the ball, but his opening games I can see vision and passing ability personally.

What does worry me about him is he doesnt seem to have that burst of pace, not judging him yet but that is the biggest worry for me...hoever like a few others, now some big games are out the way, would like to see Pellestri getting some opportunities from the bench

He's Maguire without the English Tax unfortunately. I think we'd struggle to get £40m this summer if we decided to shift him

Which ones? I'm so curious to see what ability people actually see.

I never knew Partey had pace but he completely pissed on Antony on that break.
