If mental health is an issue, as part of a transfer signing process, why is this not looked in to by professionals in the field? I mean, with wages, we're looking at a 70m + "investment". Due diligence surely comes into play?

Irrespective of it's a "mental health issue" or not, what a complete and utter waste of money. Everything about this transfer fecking reeks of shit.
How does one do due diligence on a mental health issue?

He's still shocked we paid $60m for him 6 months ago when today he could be signing for free.

Mental.
I wish I could go find the receipts in the Mount transfer thread from people laughing at me losing my mind over the thought of paying that fee for a player with just a year on his contract coming off a shit season... that was being targeted for a position that he's never actually succeeded in.

The injury as absolutely fecked any excitement around this signing but I’ve seen enough of him at Chelsea to see he’s a good player. Was he the right signing considering we have Bruno? probably not but if we can get Mount anywhere near his best he’s an excellent player

The same way you do them on physical issues I guess.
Not being snarky — but how? How would you do a test for depression, panic attacks, or anxiety? You can’t chuck a player on a treadmill or under a scan like for his leg

I have no idea how medicals work but I would assume clubs would be made aware of any previous or ongoing injuries and I would think anything psychological issues would come up then too.

He can officially agree to sign with foreign clubs in January. We couldn’t talk to him till the summer which in hindsight does look like more bad business by the club seeing as he hasn’t been available at all and he’s on a fortune. He’s a good international standard player. I wish he would just come back and play a few good games and finally shut people up and get the monkey off his back. It’s been another disastrous season for him and a really poor signing for us so far. The sheer amount of financial waste at this club is staggering. We get no luck at all. This lad and Sancho this year. 5-600k a week for absolutely nothing, Greenwood and so on. It’s just shocking mismanagement and bad luck all round

I went even further and said buying Mount for his position and that money was a bigger question mark for me on ETH than the loss at Anfield. Mount being injured and not playing hasn't really proved my point as you can't really say he's had a chance to but the idea of two 8 eights definitely justified my reservations. It's proved massively this season with the suicidal box to box nonsense we conjure up every game.

If i recall weren't most people shaking their heads with this transfer? Not saying both of you aren't oracles or anything just checking.

Also the "two 8's" are Bruno (who's never performed particularly well as an 8 and is mainly effective as a floating 10) and Mount who is also more of a 10 (and his best season at Chelsea was as a pseudo right sided forward not even in midfield).

Absolutely mindblowing that Ten Hag thought it ever had a chance of working, and just furthers the theory that he's historically incompetent and out of his league at the club.

Yeah I think it was quite 50/50 to be fair or if we're being generous 60/40 in favour but even then, that is significant discourse over a player transfer, which iirc is generally well in favour.

I guess there were a 'smaller' minority like myself that was 'what the actual feck, why?!' rather than the more neutral 'not sure what we need but a good player, who should be a good addition' or something.

If the mental issues are true then hopefully a rival club signs him for a similar fee that we paid for ASAP. This isn't a healthy club to be in. Win-win.
If you’re going to post something like that at least expand on what you’ve heard, especially when posters are asking.

You said it. I'm not trying to concede to the last point (even I know deep down it's true) because I only got hope at the moment that we'll get better or something. If I lose that, it's just another realisation of another false dawn after so many in the last decade. Sigh.

Maybe this will be my 'when it's gonna end robbie' moment and we'll become title contenders next year

i mean i had hoped he was gonna fit in and help the midfield. Currently though looking to be just a horrendously bad decision at the moment. Def had my doubts on this one as it seemed like overpaying for more average british talent. It was 100 percent obvious though we needed to sign someone in midfield, as Eriksen looked dead on his feet last season and wouldnt be able to be counted on as a starter this season (which is undoubtedly been shown as true). Just messed up the signing on what player we targeted, no shocker there.

I just want one calendar year where we operate both on and off the pitch and I say “ah yeah smart moves”. Just one full year of competence as a club

Keep forgetting him and Amrabat are United players when I look at our wider squad and possible injury returns.

I clicked on this thread to same thing, but only about Mount, as I'd totally forgotten about Amrabat, what a waste of time he was.

It's sad when you forget about players that are in the current sqaud, Malacia been another one.

A shame we didn't keep Sabitzer instead of bringing in Amrabat, who was useless, and kept Donny, who was nonexistent, and kept McTominay, who is nearly useless.

Keep forgetting we have him
Feels like he's played like two games max?

Looks horrible transfer, hope he comes back and gains form

Big mistake giving him the number 7 straight up

Started 3 and sub in 5 I think. Has done absolutely nothing in every game he’s played.

Total waste of money. He would’ve had 6 months left on his Chelsea contract by now, could’ve got him for £20m, or just waited until the summer.

Again, why post this and refuse to share with the forum?
I posted it wasn’t injury related. Seeing as there is no other source saying it’s not injury related I think I’m better off saying nothing . Is that ok with you?

You didn’t say nothing. You made a post about a rumour and then clammed up. If it’s only a rumour what possible reason could you have for not sharing it? And if you really don’t want to share it, why mention it?!?

does Mount still play football? Where's he been all this time?
He's in Dubai on holiday.

Two weeks ago he was doing a photoshoot for the Nike Underwear Spring 2024 range. He's the face of their new range. They signed him as soon as he came here and - like us - probably expected to get better value for their money with a nice United-adjacent profile boost.

He's doing the Jesse Lingard speedrun basically.
