It’s pretty fair to be honest. With my girlfriend being ethnically Jewish, and a descendant from a Holocaust death-camp survivor, our relationship has taken a hit since October 7th. She’s a politically motivated trailblazer and is 100% behind Palestine and resolutely anti-Zionist and hates Netanyahu…. But me wading in with big stompy boots after two weeks… nah. She wasn’t having it.
She’s taken her time to reset and we’ve attended the last 4 London marches together.
That’s two people, working out their tricky shit, in private.
Trying to wrangle a political party that’s spread across the totality of the UK, talking, deciding on next steps… it’s impressive that the party has been able to (mostly) sing from a neutral hymn sheet (a garbage hymn sheet In my opinion) and not react and change tact day to day. Thatwhat I need, want and expect from my government.
Streeting… I blow hot and cold on. Hearts in the right place but not in the same place as mine.
I don’t much like the fact that their responses seem to be dictated by polling. But also understand that they need to get elected.
I do truly believe that if they were in power right now, they’d be condemning Israel in the strongest terms. I actually think that we might be leading the western world in that opposition too.
