I think he'll still turn into a top striker. Saw enough of that before his injury to believe it still. He'll never be a Rooney type of player though, he's not going to carry the team's attack on his own or inspire them when the chips are down.
We aren't set up to play with him at all at the moment. We have goal scoring wide players who normally look to cut in and shoot at every opportunity. Amad is the only one who looks like he could develop some kind of chemistry with a striker right now, but that's not going to happen if they never play together.
We either needed to sign a selfless #9/False 9 who looks to bring others into play and would accommodate goal scoring wide players. Think Firmino at Liverpool. Or, we need to shift our wingers and get in more creative players, who will look to cross or pass rather than cut in and shoot all the time.
Instead we spent a ton of money to split the difference, for some reason.
