Just get that feeling if Hag goes (I personally think he will get the sack) it will be potter, he’s apparently turned down Ajax which surely you wouldn’t do if you didn’t have something bigger and better lined up and he worked with Ashworth at Brighton.
If it happens I’m not sure how I’d feel about it, he seems highly rated and at least we’ve got “proper” people making these decisions and not accountants, this is going to be a very interesting few weeks that’s for sure.
I have the same feeling and mentioned it in a post earlier. I was not sure on his name being bandied about but two things leads me to believe that it might be him:
(1) Statements coming out that INEOS are not particularly looking for someone who has won things in the past for the job
(2) Potter turning down the Ajax job. Which was a bit surprising for me given that all the decent English jobs are taken. Spurs, Villa, NewCastle, West Ham - all the jobs where you could see him manage are already taken.
Potter is English, knows our imminent Dof, did reasonably well at Brighton & played a system which was easy on the eye, knows the PL, has done the round at a big club & knows the demands. He might fit in well with what INEOS are looking for.
Like you, I am not sure how I feel about it either. I have mentioned before that for me the new manager should be someone who should at least look like someone capable to winning the two big trophies. I am unsure if Potter has that charisma or that personality.
