We aren't the only ones complaining about how refs are getting away with being terrible at their jobs.
This shows the issue we have in midfield though. We don't have any worthy replacement when he doesn't play, irrespective of why he isn't playing. I agree he shouldn't have been dropped today though. And Martial is a different issue, that's probably to accommodate Sanchez.

The lad was completely flattened. A penalty for sure imo.How’ve we played overall so far?Ive watched football for 40+ years. The challenge on Mctominay is one of the worst non calls I have ever seen from a ref. He is literally within 10 yards of the incident and has a completely unobstructed view and he calls nothing. Mctominay's head snaps back from the body check like he was punched by Mike Tyson. You can almost see the spit and sweat leaving his head because he is hit so hard. I don't care who is playing or what stage of the game its at, if that is not a penalty and a red card, I don't know what is.
It was wild. Surprised he doesn't have a concussion from that, from both the impact and the landing. Totally wiped out.
And the first one on him was a definite yellow, which that Billing lad got away with, but Mata and Sanchez both got booked for way less and for their first fouls.

You just need to look at Alexis' reaction when one our players make a poor decision to realise how poor we can be in our build up. Our decision making at times, especially in the box, can be awful.
He's played for Arsenal so it comes naturally for him.
He has actually played some good passes and run after every ball. The problem seems to be that we are playing far too narrow. We are making the pitch way too small and playing into their hands with their compact defending

We have played much better today then some of our other recent performances. There is some desire that has been missing in other games.

Lukaku plays poorly consecutively but cannot be dropped due to the system itself being unchangeable
Lukaku carries on as normal and Rashford/Martial continue to play in systems that diminish their greater footballing ability
Change the system highlight the strengths of the best and most talented players.
Martial would look a million bucks up front for City because he wouldn't need to be a target man.Don't worry guys, the referee will have to explain his decision in his post match interview.
