  1. Master of None

Yeah the actor playing Brian delivers every line in such an awkward, stilted way, like you can almost hear the director yelling "action" before he starts speaking. Somehow he manages to be endearing though, ala Jerry Seinfeld.
  2. Happy 15th birthday to the album of the century...

Merriweather Post Pavilion is my choice for album of the century so far. Closely followed by Geogaddi, Person Pitch and Kid A. A lot of opinions masquerading as facts in this thread.
  3. Best two consecutive songs on an album

Good god I couldn't possibly narrow it to just one. Many good ones mentioned so far. Panda Bear: Take Pills / Bros Slint: Don, Aman / Washer Joni Mitchell: All I Want / My Old Man Public Enemy: Bring The Noise / Don't Believe the Hype DJ Shadow: Changeling / What Does Your Soul Look Like Boards...
  4. Angel Di Maria - PSG Player

I hope the next bag of jelly beans he buys are made up of all his least favourite flavours.
  5. 2000s: Your favourite films, albums & books

I can really only do my favourite albums off the top of my head. I might come back and do books and films when I can be bothered! 1. Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion 2. Panda Bear - Person Pitch 3. Boards of Canada - Geogaddi 4. Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity 5. Radiohead - Kid A...
  6. Summer Tunes!

The ultimate summer track for me. In name, in sound, in lyrics, in everything. One of the best pop tunes I've heard in my lifetime.
  7. Brentan Rodgers

Saw this in the times this morning. Is Brentan taking tactics lessons from Boss?
  8. RedCafe's Top 100 Bands & Artists Ever - Submission/Discussion Thread

Arctic Monkeys always seemed pretty middle of the road to me. Wouldn't have thought anything they'd done thus far had been enough to exclaim them superior to some of the greats.
  9. RedCafe's Top 100 Bands & Artists Ever - Submission/Discussion Thread

  10. Songs you dislike from artists you love/like

It always struck me that maybe you'd like whichever one you heard first more, but yea I agree. Having loved The Sensual World for years I didn't enjoy it at all. I think the story was she wanted it to be Flower of the Mountain all along but she couldn't get the rights to use the words so it got...
  11. Music What are we listening to?

Deerhoof - "Behold a Marvel in the Darkness"
  12. Is music in a terminal decline?

And the most groundbreaking albums will need even more time in some cases. I still remember being dumbfounded for weeks by much of Kid A, and only persisted due to the fact I'd loved OK Computer and The Bends. Same deal with a lot of Animal Collective records, who in my mind are one of this...
  13. Music The "Listen to one new album a day" thread

Nice going Olly, I try to do this most days and hopefully this inspires me to keep it up. (It might also renew my interest in the Caf!) Really digging that Protomartyr record. Anyway, my first album that I listened to today: The Dismemberment Plan's Emergency & I [1999] For me this album is...
  14. Boards of Canada

It's very good though there is probably less of a focus on melody and more on texture and atmosphere. That being said there are some fantastic melody driven tracks on here just less in number than their previous albums. I'm quite fond of the more droney tracks on here though. The intro to Reach...
