He gets beaten too easily for my liking. He could have a future here, but I don't think he'll ever be at the level where he should be a regular starter. As Van Gaal mentioned in the post-match interview, Blackett only started because Jones and Smalling are injured and Shaw is still not 100%.
I thought he was excellent today. Looks like exactly what our midfield has been missing over the past few seasons. That said, it would be interesting to see how he does against a team that will press us higher up the pitch. I don't expect him to have as much time on the ball as he did today.
Maybe this is just a knee-jerk reaction, but perhaps goal-line technology isn't the only thing the game needs. Maybe referees or the fourth match official should be forced to review a video of the incident before showing a straight red.

I wonder if he should play RB against Real Madrid. Nani and Valencia on the same wing can be a deadly combination, especially when opposition players decide to double-team Nani, leaving behind acres of space for Valencia to burst forward.
