Too limited to play as a No.10 at this level, he knows what needs to be done and the positions to take but isn't good enough to execute.

We should let him go and make his career in Spain, maybe the premier league doesn't suit him and kept Herrera to finish his career here.

Unfortunately, he didn't have a good game today. Everything he tried just didn't come off. A good, senior player or a coach needs to talk to him after this game and walk him through exactly where it went wrong.

We got any at United?

I’m kind of past the point of criticising the players.

It was obvious to everyone after multiple s*** shows last season that he wasn’t suitable but during ‘the cull’/rebuild management believed he was passable as a first team player & empowered him as such.

I don’t believe he goes out to over hit every throughball, he’s just not a very good footballer [at the level required] & adequate squad planning would have replaced him some time ago.

That would take a fair bit of time, not far off a 1/10 performance today.

I'm a fan of his but he embarrassed himself today, you could see it on his face when he was taken off.

He tries but at the end of the day he hasn't got the quality required at this level for the number 10 role.

We're not blessed with them. Coaching wise, maybe Phelan or Carrick. With players, I guess the likes of De Gea, Young, Matic, and Mata are the "senior" players in the squad. You would expect one or several of these people to look after these younger players and help them out, as Pereira is still developing.

That would take a fair bit of time, not far off a 1/10 performance today.

It was a poor performance, no doubt about that. With the inexperienced and inconsistent players that we have, it's not a massive shock that somebody would turn out a performance like this eventually. The danger though is that mistakes are contagious and we had too many players that made basic errors today, with their passing, crossing, closing down, attacking and defending. It's up to the players and the coaches to work on this to raise the standard, because it just wasn't anywhere near good enough today.

Still don't know whats he supposed to be good at. It feels like he's just out there so that we can have 11 players on the pitch.

The good thing about the amount of game time he’s getting is that by the time we can replace him and he’s either on the bench/out the squad/sold there’ll be no complaints because he would have shown why he’s not good enough. Today was awful ... decisions, shooting, set pieces. Stand by my view. No idea what the purpose of this guy is.

I'm sorry, but I would argue that performances closer to this level is more the norm than any performance closer to 10/10 from Pereira, I've never seen him really shine a part from in pre-season and a few cups against dross, where he's sporadically looked good, never seen him play well in the Premier League. Andreas is now 23 years old, turning 24 in January. He's been in and out of the team, been on loans that haven't really been successful either. This is a time where he should really start to shine and show his worth in the team, rather he's regressing and showing lack of effort (which was one of the few positives from his game previously).

He literally looked like he hated it out there, a bit of rain and nasty weather and he's literally worthless.

EDIT: Just saw the gifs posted above, he actually looked like a make-a-wish kid out there today.

I would agree that he isn't good enough long term to be a starting player in this particularly important position. But, he's thrown in and he can only do his best. We are where we are and there are not that many players in the squad who are obviously better players, at this moment in time. We've got an overall poor/below average squad (for a club of this standard) and with too many inconsistent players with inconsistent performances. We looked a bit better when Lingard came on, but he actually has a similar story, in the sense that he is in his mid-twenties and has started to regress.

Look who he has got to learn off. Rashford and Martial are again very inconsistent and haven't nailed down one position that they excel in, which is a similar story to Pereira. James is a few years younger and has only joined in the Summer. Fred has been inconsistent, McTominay has been learning his trade, Matic doesn't even get a look in these days and Pogba looks as if he wants out. Not trying to find excuses for this player, but he's being thrown in at the deep end without those important bigger players around him who will help him out and with a club who are overall underperforming. Even our better players look average or below average with the football that we're playing. We're in a mess and we're doing these younger players no favours.

I think we in essence agree with each other, where our opinions differ is that I think he at 23 (almost 24) should at least show some promise, we've seen pretty much none where it matters - the Prem. I would think this is the reason we re-signed Mata, to be a mentor to these players, say what you want about Mata in his current state, but he's a clever fella and he definitely has been one of the best in that position. Why would Pereira learn from Rashford and Martial who neither plays in his position instead of a seasoned professional in Mata who's won pretty much everything in his career? Or Carrick? Pereira needs to step up quickly to contain his spot in this squad, if he doesn't improve shortly I can see him being shipped out in the summer.

Getting rid of Fellaini so that him and the other Brazilian fraud can play more was a fecking joke of a decision.

This is how I feel every week about Periera. One of those players you can't quite figure out what anybody saw in him to decide he should be a first team player. I mean even the bang average players at least tend to link up pretty well. He didn't even do that. Half the time he'd asleep on the ball.

People starting to think he's any good since Liverpool game when on reality he lost so many balls, make wrong decisions over and over again, and just make 2 good long passes that game. I'll said it again, he's truly the worst no.10 I've ever seen to play for the club. Lingard at least have won us a cup final

One of the worst permormance in midfield I've ever seen in a United shirt. I don't like player's bashing bur that was a "f****** disgrace".

He has the right attitude but sadly he’s not good enough it has been proved time and time again.

He's there to put in decent deliveries at corners but today he was shocking. Seems like every team has a player with decent delivery but us. No wonder we never look like scoring. He's had his chances and can't complain if he's dropped now. Time for Solskjaer to look elsewhere.

He was awful today. Solskjaer needs to realise that based on ability Pereira is a back-up midfielder, not a starting right winger or #10.

He was a player I always wanted to see be given a run the team at some point, now I've seen enough, it's not a high bar right now, but he's just not good enough.

Was no coincidence we looked better when Lingard came on for Andreas. He's a squad player and nothing more.

They are both horrible players... in an ideal world they would both not be at Manchester United.

Ole had to choose between Mata, Lingard and Pereira today... you cant make the right choice in that situation since not one of them is good enough.

Correct. He needs to play in midfield as a squad player, or not play at all. And thus far, he hasn't shown enough to be given priority over a younger player. He's already at an age where he needs to start producing so it's only a matter of time until you just stop prioritizing his playing time.

He had 2 fantastic chances yesterday that could have made a huge difference to the game. I don't know what he was trying to do for the chance James squared to him.

A quality, experienced number 10 would make a major difference to this team. Having such a limited player in such a pivotal creative position is a big problem. If there is any chance the club can get Eriksen they should go all out for him.

Lul theres even a clip of Fred fouling someone while Pereira was in the area, as a means to say he isnt good

Again poor performance but at least Andreas tries to be creative. Lingard and Mata dont even try to make things happen like those passes in behind the defense. He's squad player quality - ideally we'd have a star player trying those passes and getting them right. We only have Pogba in the squad who we know can do that from an advanced position

To all those wanting to upgrade on him, go and support Barcelona or juventus. If you guys were decision makers; De Gea, Evra, Vidic, etc. would have been sold off before they had a chance to become United greats. We need to get behind Pereira, he only needs another year. It's Woodward and the management's fault the club is in the state it is. No other player in the world can do better in this environment. We have tried changing players before it hasn't worked, now we need to give players who know the club a chance.

Not trying to be a dick but that's a load of shite. How come he "only needs another year"? He's just about to turn 24, has been at the club for 8 years and never forced his way into the team until the team is in arguably the worst state it has been in decades, has been on two (unsuccessful) loans, has never shown any promise in the Premier League (only shown glimpses in cups or pre-season). I fully agree with your sentiment that it's Woodward and the upper managements fault the club is in this situation, but to claim that "no other player in the world can do better in this environment" is absolute rubbish, might as well just pack it in then and sign no one because it wont have any effect anyway?

EDIT: Changed some dates I got wrong.

Did well to move into the right spaces yesterday, but passing in tight spaces was erratic. Still involved in much of the danger we created. For 24 year old, he’s still a rookie in the no 10 position, and today’s performance was no disaster. If he does 3-4 of his actions today just 10 % better, I’d say he’d got off the pitch with a goal and an assist to his name, so it’s not terribly far off. It’s frustrating to watch when we’re 0-1 down, though, and he’s obviously shouldn’t be our best option for a no 10, which is not on him.

Amazing thing is he makes so many basic mistakes with time on his hands, while not under pressure. Speaks to either shattered confidence, bewilderment at playing for Utd, or a sorry lack of ability. Got tired of berating him yesterday and almost started to feel pity, doesn't seem to have the thick skin of a Rojo.
