This is what you get for going into a season with Marital, Rashford, Sancho, Elanga and Ronaldo (possibly still leaving) as you main attackers and not replacing Greenwood and Cavani.

Imagine a parallel universe where United buy a striker early summer because we know we need one since February.

It's a minor one and they're hoping he'll be fine for next weeks game, but possibly the week after against Liverpool
Seems like a precaution so hopefully its not long

Whatever the case, we know Martial is injury prone. We have no replacements and watch us go and panic buy.

We might seem him by mid September then based on history. This is a disaster for our start to the season.

Ten Hag really has no luck. Amad or Ronaldo...

Got injured vs Atletico apparently.

And Good. I'd rather us panic buy than do nothing. The club is useless at making transfers to it's better to panic buy, hope Ten Hag can do something rather then go into the season and hope Elanga can discover how to control, dribble, pass or shoot.

A lot of people looking stupid already. Didn't expect it so soon though in fairness. The guy is unreliable sadly.

We were kidding ourselves if we really thought this guy was first choice anyway. Need to get a new striker, as soon as possible.

The problem with panic buying is that it massively increases the chance of buying a player who doesn’t fit. And we already know how much money we invariably lose trying to fix that sort of error.

Planned buying would be great. Panic buying not so much.

Well we clearly haven't planned anything, so at this point, I'd rather "panic buy" Ziyech or Asensio or someone who is simply better than Elanga for the right wing. Elanga to be blunt isnt a premier league level player, yet he will end up starting a significant amount of games because he is the first option after Sancho and Rashford for the wings. That's pathetic depth and just negligence on our part.

Shame.

I reckon Rashford will go through the middle, Bruno on the left, McFredisken in the middle. Ten Hag had pushed Bruno wide a few times during pre-season.

Ronaldo to come in second half.

Oppurtunity present itself for Garnacho though. He'll have an oppunrtunity to stake a claim over the next few weeks.

Calm down guys, a single injury is not the end of the world.

Rashford will play CF with Bruno, Eriksen, Sancho behind him. We'll be fine.

The problems start when multiple attackers get injured.

Been here since 2015. Mostly a substitute and then became a main player for us in 2019. Had one great season, one good season (his debut season), the rest were either mediocre or shit. Has been completely awful or injured for the past 2 years. Yet with all of this in mind, in his 8th season at Manchester United, the club and the fans were still willing to give him yet another chance to "blow up" and be the main guy. There's so much sentiment and attachment to shit players in this club. It would be funny if I also wasn't a fan of the club.

Today you are right but mid to long term, it has been clear that Martial struggles with niggling injuries. It's best for us to have him as a rotation player than expect to have him as a 30+ games starter.

Ronaldo will not start. I'd bet my life on it.

This the 100% the right decision by the way.

We had one top of the list. Nkunku. Then we acquiesced to ETHs demand and dropped all of our previously planned targets in favor of whatever he was planning.

And like many a manager before, he waltzed in thinking the squad was in better shape than it actually was and that all was peachy. So here we are.

This one's on ETH, and to some lesser extent Arnold for shifting away from the earlier plan immediately following Ole's departure. But to be fair, ETH is the kind of manager it was important to bring on at all costs.

I mean we're not exactly blessed with an abundance of strikers at the moment... it is quite alarming.

Hamstrings are usually a back related issue. There is an underlying issue that hasn't been identified.

Shattered.

Nkunku was going nowhere, he was PSG's priority but Leipzig and the player chose a move next summer at the earliest.

Striker was one of our priority targets for the summer before ETH came on. Nkunku was high on the list but even if not him for whatever reason, it would have been someone else and likely much earlier than with ETH who needed to assess the squad in full before coming up with his list.

It's not a bad thing. But it's silly to think the transfer window would go smoothly as soon as that decision was made.

If you'd told people three months ago that Elanga and McFred would start United's first game of the season, even the most pessimistic of United fans would have laughed at you.

Didn't we made an offer for Nunez and are now linked to Sesko? As far as I can tell none of what you wrote actually happened.

Yup that's fair, I just looked it up. Not a great injury record esp. going into an environment where he's expected to work harder than he has before.

17/18: 4 games
18/19: 8 games
19/20: 17 games
20/21: 20 games
21/22: 9 games. (3 due to just being unfit, so happy to chalk that down as 6 games)

Unfortunately I think we were planning for Ronaldo as our starting CF this year and that plan went to shit. If he stays we should be fine with Ronaldo / Martial rotating for the rest of the season.
