Manchester United conceded more goals (3) and xG (2.68) against Arsenal than in the last four games combined (2) and xG (2.56).

The difference between playing him and not.

Don't mind that he was missing today. Thought we'd lose even with him as we were due a loss, had a great big game record before this (and nobody is ever perfect, Arsenal were fresher and going for the title actually, and had revenge after September on their mind, and they are just a top team now anyway. So I just think it all lined up to be a loss for us even if Casemiro played.

Like this, he gets rested, we can all make the "if Casemiro was fit" excuse and he'll be fit and firing for the 2nd half of the season.

He will be determined to get us back on track, only need to look at his quotes to agent after Brentford defeat to see his passion.

Nottingham Forest 0:3 Man Utd
Poor by his usual high standards but just him being on the pitch lifts the level of our quality throughout.

Poor performance tonight.
Caught in possession numerous times and didn't contribute positively too much at all. Seemed to lack concentration.

Too easy for him against a woefully naive Forest, led to to easy, bored mode. League Cup not the most exciting competition for a man like Cas.

Decent performance. Not at his best but even when he plays at this level it's many levels above what McTominay offers us.

Wasn't at his best but on the ball you see what was missed v arsenal, that calmness at times and ability to pass through the lines (or even at times carry the ball and team forward)

Not a good performance, was dispossessed many times today. But another assist nonetheless

Shows how good he has been that it was weird watching him not being the best player in the pitch tonight

He channeled his inner McTominay tonight . Hopefully that's just a ropey game to get himself back into the groove. Let him play one of the next two games and be back firing on all cylinders for Palace.

Completely unrecognizable today, but he's built up a lot goodwill to say the least

Caught in possession rather too often. He was taking forever to decide what he was going to do with the ball, so plenty of opportunity for a Forest player to rob him.

Caught a few times, fouled a few times where the ref wasn’t giving us anything but his composure and game awareness to pick the right pass. Played the pass to Rashford for his goal and played the pass to Antony in the build up to Weghorst. Without the need for silly flicks etc in his own half. He gives us control.

Looked to be back to his form when we first signed him. Maybe he’s one of those players like Rooney that need a few games to get upto speed after missing a game or 2. Easy to let him off for tonight with how unbelievably good he’s been for us otherwise

Poor on the ball tonight but still made some crucial interceptions. We're lost without him.

Weghorst's goal wouldn't have happened without Casemiro being proactive and driving from deep. How long have we been waiting to see a DM look that comfortable dribbling the ball forward for us? At least 10 years?

Yes, he got dispossessed a couple of times during the game (one of them was definitely a foul that inexplicably wasn't given) but, as always with Casemiro, the pros far outweigh the cons, even when he's having a 'bad game' by his standards.

Or a player like most who can have the occasional stinker.

Thought he was a bit off today, as example on the offside goal. Also lost possession several times. But amazing for the second goal.

Gibbs-White got the better of him quite a bit. An unusual 6/10.

A little off the pace tonight which is the first time I've thought that about him since his early few cameos. Not going to have a great game every game I guess and this guy is pure class usually. Don't think I've enjoyed seeing a new player for us like this in years.

Yeah that could well be the case

He is an example of how world-class players change the whole team, I think ETH learned a very valuable lesson here.
It's crazy to think Real Madrid had prime Ronaldo, Casemiro, and Modric, and Barcelona had prime Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets.

IMO, he is the only world-class player we have. Many people, including managers, like to speak about philosophy and play style. But in the end, players are real assets.
Every manager tries to buy players that fit into their system or players they know, and when the system fails you, then you are left with system players. That's how we spent nearly 1.3B USD.

Maybe he needs to play some part against Reading & Forest so that he is that usual sharp self for Palace league game

Poor defensively but his passing was brilliant again. Started Rashford's goal with a good pass.

Was not a good match from him overall. He lost the ball in some bad areas. Still a bad game from Casemiro is better than a good game from McT

Felt like all of Nottingham's good attacks came from his mistakes.

When he forgets he will be pressed on the ball and won't have as much time as he used to in Madrid, he becomes a liability in possession.

That's the same for literally every player, luckily he's generally not like that.

Heavily involved in all goals. Even when he is not on his best, class will show.

Him, Martinez and Varane are just awesome both in quality and mentality. They will take us places.

whilst still looking our best midfielder by far, he has looked a little sloppy in recent weeks, going back to Everton game, he was at fault, didn't have a great game v City, reckless challenge in Palace game and sloppy again yesterday. maybe pace of PL catching up as the games come thick and fast. The problem is we can't really rest him, certainly when playing PL teams. When's he's in a two with Eriksen, he's the one doing all the covering, that will take it's toll on any player. It highlights what we already know, we need reinforcements in midfield. Eriksen himself also in recent weeks has looked tired.
