I do find these deadlines amusing.
They are not hard deadlines, but, "please get your bids in by this date please....but if you are late, that's okay, too".

If they get a bid for £5Bn on the deadline day and a week later, someone comes in at £6Bn, the original bidder will get time to re-submit a bid.
The Glazers are greedy and will do whatever it takes to milk every last drop out of the club before they leave.

Here's a scary thought: if they could get an extra £Bn, if they delay the sale by 1-2 years...they'll do this. All they care about is the (highest) bid. Nothing else.

I also want the Glazers gone at any cost, but taking till December or even next year is not a good prospect.
Every year they stay, is another year that MCFC pull away from us that bit further.
The sooner we get new owners who are focused on getting us winning, the better.

The idea of taking as much time as they need, is a very bad prospect.
Sooner rather than later is everyone's preference, obviously. The point is, this summer is not the most important thing. Getting rid of the Glazers is far more important. Another 8 or 10 weeks matters very little when you're talking about installing a new owner to see the club through the next 15 or 20 years.

I can’t believe I am saying this, but I think people need to give Glazers the benefit of the doubt for another round if both of the highest bidders have bid the same amount?

Would you not want another round? What are they supposed to do?
Eh?

I will give Glazers no benefit of any doubt.
When Moyes joined, I wanted him gone asap. It took 10 months, but he deserves all the flack he gets. He should've been fired sooner.
Similarly, I will not let up on the Glazers. While they are here, we won't win the league and I want them gone at any cost. Their aim is to win the top 4 trophy....nothing more. Even Arsenal, who were the specialists at winning the top 4 trophy got fed up with it and are now focused on winning the league.
The Glazers will never get fed up with finishing in 4th place.

I’d like to think if they’re not taking dividends for themselves at the moment then they’d want it done soon. I don’t think they want to be holding the responsibility come the summer and transfers need to be done.

The Qataris can obviously step up to their desired price but they’re too prideful to not look like suckers within such an intense spotlight.

This.

The Glazers have neither the desire, nor capabilities to compete in modern top level football - they are both clueless and useless.

If Utd ever want to be competing at the top again consistently, the Glazers MUST be removed, completely.

They're parasites and total cnuts, but can the Glazers really be described as autocrats?

The silver lining in all of this, however frustrating the process, is that they are definitely leaving.

My ideal scenario is now:
glazers sell minority stake to Elliot.
In the medium term, glazers breach clauses
Elliot assumes full control
Glazers get completely fecked
Elliot steadies ship
Sells United at a profit

yes, it’s not putting the short term interests of the club at the forefront, and it’s petty, but i don’t care. The thought of that family being financially ruined (relatively, of course. But it would be seriously damaging to all of the rats) is too good to pass up.
My ideal scenario. Bc FECK these family of rats and their endless greed. I hope they shoot themselves in the foot with this ‘third’ round the absolute pigs they are.

Pie in the sky, but I kind of hope that the bidders we know about show their displeasure with the process by reducing their offers. Would be wonderful for the Glazers greed to feck them over but the club still be sold. They don’t deserve a penny!

they deserve some Salford reds joining some Florida reds and rocking up on their doorstep. I’ll settle for them shooting themselves in the foot with this deal though

What about the fans of all other german clubs? Are they not people? When bayern buys up all the players at the end of the season and purchases next seasons bundesliga title are they not factoring in the people who support all the other clubs who have to sit back and watch this superrich giant continually buy success? I mean, if these sanctimonious douches want to worry about the football belonging to the people, it should belong to people beyond bayern fans too.

Now I am happy City stuffed them.

I agree, and was thinking the same thing. With the other deadlines some people have acted like it's the transfer deadline. Even with this, some people have said that we will know something by April 28. No, even IF that date is not extended and IF it really is the final round, it's just the deadline for a bid, not for a decision. There's nothing preventing the Glazers from asking for Round 4 after this either.

The only real deadline is whatever point someone walks away, and no one is saying what their walk away point is.

its rinse and repeat for another couple of months followed by back page headline on transfer deadline day will we or won't we buy buckle to levy's demand and Utd are still waiting on round 10 of the bidding process to be completed which has been extended by the glaziers.

I think you need to go and lay down for a while, chief.

The truth is they have extremely competent accountants and bankers and they have advises Qatar the club is worth £4bn plus the £1bn debt but they might have to pay £5.5bn as a premium to secure the keys to the club, knowing the Glaziers might still then say we are only selling for £6bn.

The game of Bluff reaches its final stages because, SJR and SJ can both pull out any time they want! Nothing is ever easy with being a United fan, but right now if it takes to September 1st 2023 and we only sign one player for next season but it means the parasites have finally left the club, I’d take that over them staying and getting minority investors any day of the week.
Maybe so but it's ridiculously unfair on Erik who was stopped from buying in January by club overspending on Antony in summer

Qatar will win the bid but it won't be in time to salvage our summer transfer window.
Yeah feels like we will have to make do with a ST and partner for Casa who can ideally play 6/8 to same standard. Possibly a RB if we can raise some cash too

So are they just gonna keeping having more rounds until they get what they want? Why does everything we do as a club have to be so drawn out?
If you were the owner of United, wouldn't you do the same thing? Draw it out, create artificial deadlines?

The summer will most likely be impacted, club will either be in limbo or still controlled by Glazers, neither scenario is beneficial. People like Arnold and Murtough have no control over how much and when funds are available so any uncertainty over the ownership will potentially cause delays an issues.
I am sure the current management has done scenario planning.

I wouldn't be surprised if, during the respective 10hrs meetings, the United team had asked them about how they would run the club, expectations etc -- and also asked them if they were coming in, what sort of transfer budget they would be set aside so they can plan accordingly.

It would be smart on Murtough's part to get some sort of 'commitment' early --- so that he can CYA later when either party come in and fail to deliver.

The problem with that is if you dont generate some sense of urgency, you could land up sailing into the blue ocean or the unknown. Or the project loses visibility/interest/excitement and Raine may not be so keen to re-generate interest among its Rolodex of potential buyers.

Then that leads to the question of whether can they afford to wait. Or do They need the cash to pay for other investment projects urgently?

Or the ol' bird in hand option.

So its not that straightforward just to drag the sale out for years. Months maybe but certainly not years.

When they value United at 5-6 billion, a 20 million dividend or 'annual management consultancy fee' is negligible. This dividend payout is a red herring.

haha!Themselves, in the foot. Figuratively.Though they are from Florida (lax gun laws), and immensely stupid, so one can hope.
Just buy a message space/billboard on one of the roadsides in Tampa to embarrass them. Lax gun laws don't mean the local PD are that friendly either. This is DeSantis' FL.

good point!

gotta agree with Neville on this, they’re just so classless. There are worse owners in sport (abramovich/Saudi etc come to mind) but none with a combo of such a high profile club, who are so embarrassingly, publicly, cheap. And greedy. They have no shame whatsoever

How lucky we are to have been affiliated with these disgusting POS for nearly 20 years. Single handedly stopped the PL becoming a 1 club league though, i guess that’s a good thing.
