Not sure that’s true, we spent a fortune last summer and nothing was soothed over.
Our fanbase was literally protesting them during a cup final just a few months ago
If the Glazers lose control and we strengthen to acceptable levels ad all that on top of a largely successful season from ETH and the team then the anger won't be as fierce as it would be right now. Remember last summer the club fecked about in the window and only got to spend after the two defeats.
What Jim essentially needs to do if he takes over is to make serious moves on the debt, have a strong transfer window and make a commitment towards upgrading the stadium. All that heavy investment will be hard for even the skeptics to ignore.
Football is easy, especially with an established club like United - front load on the spending, go far in the CL, top three finish and lower the spending for two or three seasons, rinse and repeat. The key is in getting in the right talent spotters, the Glazers failed on this aspect.
