I could accept that with SUnderland, they had a poor squad. But at the Hammers the squad is pretty decent. He has enough talent at his disposal to turn arround things.
My post was tongue in cheek mate. He definitely has the talent at West Ham to be much higher than he is but the fact is theres enough evidence at this stage which points to him just not being a very good football manager. Of course when he inevitably fails there will still be some who think its the clubs/players fault.. again.

The general air of unrest at West Ham is providing him with his latest set of excuses. Ahead of their potentially season-defining game against Southampton, I expect we will see some articles by friendly journalists over the next few weeks about how hard it is for poor Moyes to manage in such a poisonous atmosphere.

Patrick Barclay, Jonathan Northcroft, Andy Dunn ( chief apologist extraordinaire ) , Henry Winter, Oliver Holt .............. take your pick.

He really did strike gold with the Everton job and since then, his limitations have been badly exposed.

As much as I dislike Moyes, noone can take away that he's still Manchester United’s best CL manager since SAF retired.......

Took the club to quarter finals despite losing the first leg 2-0.

West Ham United have abandoned plans to appoint a director of football with the club willing to back David Moyes’ judgment in the transfer market as they prepare to appoint him as manager on a permanent contract.

The Scot has yet to be formally offered the job, but talks over a contract extension are planned once West Ham’s place in the Premier League is mathematically secure, and both parties anticipate that the negotiations will end with Moyes extending his stay at the London Stadium.

He did a decent job there but like any other British manager of bottom of the lague teams, they all implode at some point and Moyes will be no different. Can see a meltdown for him next season if he ends up staying.

You can't be serious? Deserves a threadmark.

I'm sure first order of business is getting a new board, but they can't be happy with Moyes, surely?

He managed to not only convince them to keep him on full time, but also to abandon plans for a DOF and give full control of transfers to him.

Wow.

At this point I’m 100% convinced the boards/directors/owners of these clubs look for something different in managers to what we think they look for.

Jumped the gun a bit, I can see West Ham ending 17th this season. Still have to play Arsenal, City, Leicester, Man Utd and Everton.

Moyes has shown at West Ham that he is not totally shot (as I thought he was after Sunderland) but it’s would not be an inspiring appointment for an already disengaged fan base. From the owners’ perspective, Moyes will keep them in the premier league and is probably a cheap option these days. Beyond that, it’s dull football, an allergy to silverware or even cup runs and a drop off once Arnautovic decides he can do better.

All I need to see is Gaitan and Illarramendi joining Westham under Moyes and my life will be complete.

Edit : Also Fellaini, for 40 millions.
Another Edit : Future Real Madrid manager, just like any other human being, his potential is endless.

They could still be relegated. 7 points above 18th and still to play us, City, Arse, Leicester and Everton. Lost all 5 and they just might.

He's done better than I expected. I thought they'd be locked in to the bottom 3 all season, and he wasn't the man to rescue them. They've got a tough run in though. He has to bank on Southampton and Stoke continuing to be hopeless, though I can't see there being any change in the current bottom 3 now.

A new contract?

Has no one at West Ham realized they have haven't been much if at all better since Moyes took over?

Bilic had 5 wins in 14 games when they sacked him, Moyes has 7 in 26. Progress

He does deserve a Summer to get his men in IMO.

Although with such a small window this Summer, with it closing early and the WC on, dithering Dave will have to actually have the balls to make a decision. Very annoying that his dithering cost us Thiago and Kroos.

He is the most cost effective option for the dildo brothers. They pretty much deserve each other, it is a match made in heaven.

Jokes aside, he will keep them up, but obviously will do no more than that.

Transparently dishonest attempt to boost Bilic's stats from this season by including Carabao Cup games in there. It would have us believe that victories in all competitions are equal.

The thing is, you don't need to do that all. Comparing like for like and their respective league records you don't get a lot of progress from Moyes and can very much question how much improvement there's been from that alone.

They are currently bottom of the Championship, so in hindsight shows what an awful group he had.

He´s done well. Horses for courses. He is a mid-table coach, that can set up a team to defend well and counter, but not overly ambitious offensively.

I think he also partly failed due to the long tenure of SAF. It´s almost an impossible task to follow somebody that has been in charge for two decades. Werder Bremen been through it two times. After 15 years of Rehhagel they had four coaches in four years, before the 5th Thomas Schaaf stayed for another 15 years, then four coaches in four years again, and now seem settled with the new one Kohfeldt. Arsenal will probably go through some of those growing pains, too. Makes you wonder whether they´ll struggle to find a high-end coach due to this dynamic.

Go feck yourself with the personal abuse mate.

Nothing dishonest about it all seeing as i also included Moyes cup games. Guess you didn't pick up on that.
You guess wrong, and even if you weren't wrong it wouldn't be a valid comparison.

3 cup matches in 14 is completely different proportionally to 4 in 26.

Two of Moyes 7 wins came in cup matches, perfectly valid to compare their records in all competitions.

I do think he bit off more than he could chew going to Spain. But Sunderland are bottom of champo and United finished 6th last year after spending 500m or something, making a lot of people who said only the worst manager in the world could finish 7th with United look like total idiots. Moyes needs to prove Everton wasn't an 11 year fluke with West ham next season. But I dont agree that it's inevitable at all

A big reason Sunderland are in the championship though is because they were relegated under Moyes, they also had to sell a lot of their better players. They were not a very good team no, but other managers managed to keep them up. Under Moyes they were one of the worst teams in Premier League history.

Not sure who you are referring to that said Moyes was the worst manager in the world. Can't remember seeing anyone post that, i used to think he was a good manager his last 4 jobs have made me reevaluate that. Now i just think he's a poor one who hasn't adapted to the modern game.

okay so from now on we’ll have 3 points safe and sound in pocket everytime facing West Ham? I never doubt Moyes’s loyalty and dedication to us

At home anyway, as long as we remain a top 4 side - but the away games are a danger; first point he takes off us (let alone win) you can imagine the camera will be glued to his celebration, and masses of "redemption" articles in the press will follow the next day

But back on topic, this is probably a sensible move by West Ham - yes their squad is a lot better than the position they currently are under Moyes, but as a club they shouldn't be much more than solid mid-table, and that's where Moyes lives. Good fix for both sides.

But Moyes was not some observer at the scene of an accident - he was hired (presumably) to make a positive difference. Instead, he talked down their chances from day 1 (even though Allardyce had kept them up with some room to spare) and then signed absolute garbage, who contributed to the club’s free fall. It was a difficult gig but I don’t think he could have done much worse if he were a Newcastle fan actively trying to get them relegated.

City should consider hiring him after Pep. If he is successful with them, that would really put us in our place .

the absurdity of this suggestion really stings when I remember the reality that this clown actually managed us
