Had a bit of a tough time today, especially in the first half. Had to come out wide quite often which doesnt quite suit his game but I felt on the whole, he dealt with Raphinha quite well.

On the ball, felt he was composed as usual. Travelled out with the ball well which was a massive benefit, given that Leeds played a man to man system. Oftentimes, this allowed us to beat the press and start an attack.

An untidy performance featuring defensive headers that went straight up in the air instead of away from the goal and an unconvincing attempt to block the shot that flew into our net. Looked uncomfortable when required to cover the vacated left-back zone, with Shaw high up the pitch. Fortunate not to concede a late penalty, though the Leeds player did rather run into Maguire.

Still looks rusty, but thankfully it wasn't costly. Made a few odd decisions with the ball at his feet, but overall he was alright, just not his usual best, yet.

Wasnt at his best today. Strange moments on the ball and looked extremely slow in a race against Bamford. That was a scary moment… Could also have called a penalty against him since he did hit the Leeds player just before the full time whistle.

He will be fine.. maybe he is just the type of player who needs to ‘grow’ into a season?

Maybe I watched a different game. Thought he has superb apart from the pass back to Shaw.

I agree. I thought he was a little off the pace at times and Lindelof did bail him out once or twice. Understandably he looked a little rusty but he will dust that off once he gets a good few games under his belt. I can’t wait to see him next to Varane.

He was baaaaaad today. Outmuscled, out of position, losing possession. Wasn't the only one though.

That was absolutely awful.
Pressed once, loses the ball, doesn't learn his lesson.
Pressed again, loses the ball, doesn't learn his lesson.
Slow on the ball, loses the ball, doesn't learn his lesson.
Pressed again, loses it, doesn't learn his lesson.

When does he fecking learn?

Nevermind the 6 or 7 times he longballed it back to Southampton.

Based on the last two performances, I'd say he's more under threat than Lindelof.

I was hoping those kind of performances were behind him as he’s been quite good recently, but that was really poor.

probably the worst i’ve ever seen him. He looked so heavy and slow and his touch was shocking.

He better get De gea his favourite bottle of wine as he’s saved his ass there.

After a near flawless Euros, he’s started this season pretty shakily.

I agree he was poor today, looked miles off it.

Touch and composure weren’t there today. One of many others though, every player was poor today except Pogba and Mason

Just switched off didn’t he, he was decent up until the last 20 when he decided to start playing for Southampton.

He’s been brilliant for well over a year.
That’s not what you said though is it.

He’s had these performances for us before, he was better today than against Spurs last season for example.

Both poor displays mind.

Agree. It's shocking how he kept making the same mistakes. Lindelof has been much better in both games so far.

Varane will take his spot instead of taking Lindelof his spot if he plays like this.

De Gea saved him today.
Lindelof was no better, let's be honest.

Played a dreadful ball to Matic, and gave them an attack himself.

But Maguire's 5 min spell where he was robbed and gave them a near sitter, and then felled Adams was pretty special work.

The worst thing he consistently does are those completly uncontested aimless headers - that he could easily bring down and pass out - that almost always end up going straight to the opposition.

It's a toss between him and Lindelof, quite even who should partner Varane.

You said terrible games are not an anomaly. I’m saying that they are, and pointed to his great form. Do you know what an anomaly is?

The more I see him the more I think he is also part of the problem. He slows everything down together with the shit midfield that we have.

Lazy, couldn’t cope when isolated and lucky not to cost us the game.

Him being terrible isn’t an anomaly though, even though he has been a good/borderline great signing for us overall. He has these games from time to time.
