As a Pakistani I have nothing but utmost respect for Kohli. He came to field by the Vauxhall stand and even we were paying respect to the guy. Modern day legend.

I find these memes childish. Maybe its my age.
yep. As this tweeter notes, mostly came from India fans throughout the tournament.

Personally, I admire the India team a great deal.. Sadly a minority of their fans are quite despicable. That's why this Pakistan win is also being celebrated by most neutrals too.

Let's be honest, it's not just India with the racist, abusive and narcissistic tweets but much of the subcontinent fans in general. India has been the most vocal as of late due to being successful and high in number but it's the same throughout unfortunate.

India has led the way in the sheer volume and the vitriolic tone.
Sneering and belittling Bangladesh and Pakistan as failed nations full of ISIS supporters has been a regular favourite. As if India is already an organised neo liberal country without discrimination or religious fundamentalism.
Yes. We should be honest about that.

I thought those first 5/6 overs and getting to 30/35 (fortunately it must be said) was very important.

Seemed like India began to feel the pressure and uncharacteristic really they bowled loads of wides. The main reason why India beat Pakistan is discipline, keeping their cool and doing the basics well. It was the other way round today.

Guess it was a great toss to lose in the end.

Commiserations to the Indian posters, still thought you guys proved through the tournament why you're one of the top 3 sides in the world and will be there or thereabouts for future ICC events.

I'm Indian and couldn't care less about the cricket but this result was absolutely expected for me after all the memes that have been going around all week. A lot of our fans seem to have tempted fate .

Yeah but I've seen equally bad posts from Pakistan/Bangla/Sri Lankan fans as well. Though, one thing that baffles me is celebrities with proper educated background mentioning terrorism and what not in their comments. I've seen this mainly from India's side but then again if some other team always had the upper hand (since social media has been around) might have been different?

Banter is good and I think we should gloat and rub it in each others faces after a victory but it should be kept in the circle of the sport. You start talking about politics and stuff you're just going too far (and going to look like an idiot)

The whole point of the game is to get closer as nations.

Of course but only a few in ratio comparison.

I've been quite disgusted by the amount of vile bile I've seen on my facebook feeds from India fans. And the majority of it having nothing to do with cricket.

Of course when provoked, fans of other country teams will retaliate.

Even if this is true, you can't reply back in the same way. Otherwise the Indian fans that are sensible will find no common ground and would just give more fuel for the trolls. Also, FB/Twitter etc is crap you wanna stay away from if looking for "sensible" fans and discussion.

Anyway, I do agree with you but I think this is a subcontinent mentality issue more than just India. Like I said, the only thing that surprises/annoys/shocks me is when celebs take cheap digs that go too far because you're impacting more than just one person now.

Would be very difficult to choose openers.

India's top 3 batsmen with Tamim and Fakhar would take the batting spots. Pandya the all-rounder slot. Mushfiqur would likely be ahead of Dhoni based on the tournaments performances. Hasan Ali, Bhumrah would definitely make the team. I remain undecided on the spinners.
Isn't playing two of tamim/fakhar/Dhawan and sharma down the order cheating a bit?

This is what I would go with

Fakhar
Dhawan
Kohli
Mushfiqur
Matthews
Pandeya
Safraz
Amir
Bhurma
Hasan
Shadab?

I was gonna ask for proof of this. But since there is none, I'll save you from embarrassing yourself further and not ask for it:lol:

You've tried your utmost best to incite trouble in this thread, and continue to do so. Which thread will you head out to next? Utterly embarrassing and I hope you're quarantined for this.

I'd probably not have Pandya but not sure who to have instead. And I'd probably have Bhuvi instead of Shadab/Bumrah.

I thought bumrah had been better than Kumar upto the finals? Wanted a spinner in there otherwise would have put him in instead of Shahab, brilliant bowling today.

Pandeya has been inconsistent but no other all-rounder has stood up as such.

You seem to be on a roll. One of the worst posters on this forum. Only talking about your posting quality of course. Not getting personal. Carry on ruining the thread.

Yeah Bumrah/Bhuvi is debatable, but the latter is more trustworthy and why I'd rather have him :D

Fair enough about the spinner.

Nope, would definitely not have Pandya. Doesn't bowl well enough for it, would rather have a specialist batsman/bowler if there's no other all rounders who've caught the eye

Totally OK for india fans to mock, incite and display arrogance.... this thread has been full of it before today. Not so much fun when you don't have the team to back it up and you get your cumuppence.
I understand the truth is hard to swallow. Suck it up boys.

Sammsky wumming is quite something
I've had my fill.

Congrats to Pakistanis everywhere enjoying a quite historic performance from their team. One of the very best if not the very best ODI performance I've seen in my lifetime, given the context.

Credit to team India who were gracious losers, especially captain Kohli, who seemed magnanimous in victory and defeat.

A wum doesn't threaten a poster over PM and then reports posts about being off topic in a cricket thread only to get in political jibes in the same thread the next day. There are more specific terms to describe such a poster.

Well, if there are two countries in the world India can take the moral high ground over religious extremism, it'd be Pakistan and Bangladesh.
