Sorry but you are still guessing as to longevity, none of us know how that is going to pan out until the season's over. And our kms run per match stats don't coalesce with reality.

Liverpool team continue to run further on average each game, month on month since the start of the season.....

Average Distance Covered Per Game (km)

August 115.3

September 116.5

October 116.7

November 117.3

December 118.2

January 118.7

Also, as I've mentioned numerous times, our small squad has been hit by injuries to most of our important players (Coutinho, Milner, Clyne, Sturridge, Henderson, Lallana) and absentees (Matip, Mane, Sakho) that it simply couldn't cope with, the matches where we played kids and squaddies and came up short proves nothing in regard to the first team, only that those kids are not ready and squaddies not up to the task .. and we knew that already, or surely do know if there was any doubt before.

Yes, I still think we'll make top $ which is what it was all about. Do note also that I've said many times I'd not be surprised if we were out of the Top 4 come the end of February because of the nature of our schedule, but that with Euro matches for our competitors and our relatively easy run-in in comparison to the other Top 5 teams who will often be playing each other, we have an edge.
It could be said that as you have been covering more distance your results have been going in the wrong direction.

Before he took over Liverpool and when he left Dortmund the German press said it was an expected drop off because the tactics and training was not sustainable.

Now obviously I doubt you'd give 2 shits if it meant you won 2 titles or even 1, which is fair enough, but if your current squad can not cope with it then it's going to be a serious issue, more injuries on their way

Am I stupid, or does this not make any sense?
It's a bizarrely stupid statement once you think more than 2 seconds on the substance of it.

I am quite pleased that Klopp appears to be merely damaging his reputation with Liverpool when I feared he would take them to new heights. Second season and he won't win anything yet again.

I think what he's trying to say is that he'd rather lose in the cups than three times in the Premier League. But Klopp being Klopp, he has to find some 'clever' way of saying that. Kloppism at its finest.

The sense of entitlement among scousers that nothing short of the league title would do is unbelievably strong. And now they have a manager that shares the same delusion. Talk about trying to run before you can walk. 1 trophy in a decade and if they aren't arsed to try and win some silverware, what sort of top club are they? Even we were relieved and satisfied to some extent when we won the FA cup last season. What a morale booster that was at the time.

Why are 'pool fans so confident about their apparent 'easy' run-in when time after time they drop points against precisely those sort of teams?

Exactly. They will probably beat Chelsea tomorrow and then lose to Hull.

Teams sit back against them now and they don't know what to do

Fat Raf's Liverpool were exactly the same. They got up for the big teams and won quite a few because the opponent had a go at them. But they couldn't put away the Aston Villa's of this world.

It all comes down to the quality of the team in the end. Barring very rare exceptions, the managers don't have more than a 30% impact on a team's results(over the course of a season)

I guess he is saying that losing 3 matches in 3 different competitions is better than losing 3 matches in the league. Which again, doesn't make too much sense considering that Liverpool had more chance on winning one of the domestic cups than the league.

1 trophy in 10 years. In this case, losing two cups matches is indeed probably worse than three in the league (which they are well used to).

The funniest thing is the whole Plan B / going direct thing. It was a major stick which fans and pundits rightfully bashed Rodgers with. Rodgers attempts to address it with the signing of Benteke. Rodgers gets bagged. Klopp flogs Benteke. They play "rock and roll" for a couple of months which gets them all excited. Opposition suss them out and the very same Liverpool fans and pundits that criticised mourinho for is pragmatism and directness start saying "Klopp has no plan b". What a week - still not as comical as that unbelievable sight of seeing Dwight Gayle wheel away in delight 3-3

Often drop points against these teams when playing a game every three days. Now we only have 15 odd games left. Plus the return of all our walking wounded which means no more clueless bench players. Doesn't guarantee anything of course but you'd rather see that list than six pointer do or die games.

Another one to add to his growing list of quotes in January.

Moaned about our programme notes, no coffee and us playing long balls. Then played long balls in his next game...

Kept bringing up our off-side goal.

Had a pop at Plymouth

It was Windy.

Surely there must be something in the water in Liverpool that turns regular, likeable people into irrational, conspiracy-theorist, bitter citizens.

You'd have only had around 20 left if you'd won your two cup games and made the FA Cup final.

16 competitive games from now until August. 16 games in 7 months.

And if you lose to Chelsea tomorrow you set a new record of 4 home defeats in 10 days.

They break down teams OK - they are the top scorers in the Division, ffs.

It's the ability to concede at the back because the GK & defence are iffy is the real problem.

Klopp is learning it the hard way that absolutely every word he utters will get scrutinized in England. They put managers up on pedestal or run them in dust, there is no middle ground. These statements that he makes when taken out of context make him seem overly deluded, even though at times they are nothing statements.

Klopp is one of those managers that relies heavily on his players buying into his philosophy and when he says things that make him sound like a knob, his players further lose faith.

For his own sake, he has to become boring when the team is not doing well. Just go with the boilerplate "boys are working hard, we don't deserve to lose all these games" rhetoric. But I hope he keeps being an idiot, it's quite entertaining.

It seems that Klopp can get away with saying virtually anything to reporters as long as he finishes with that over-the-top laugh

"See, we're sharing a joke!!"

Would have loved that to have happened. But it still feels like 5 games too many, albeit academically.

Klopp was daft not to prioritise at least one of the cups. It looks as if Jose has done exactly that, he knows from his time at Chelsea that they can be a springboard. Considering Liverpool have won just 1 trophy since 2006, they're in dire need of some silverware. Anything. No one would've called Klopp a failure if his second season featured a cup win, but as it is he played the kids for no reason whatsoever and lost.

He's been found out, instead of letting other teams have the ball, take it back or force a mistake with none stop pressing and quick counter attacking / fluid football... yet if you let them have the ball, sit back and dictate the game they have no plan B.

Didn't the exact same thing happen with him at Dortmund?

With the UCL and Klopp they could make meaningful signings though.
Liverpool will never be a threat when it comes to signing the elite players. We could finish 17th and we'd still attract better players than them.

Being knocked out of 2 competitions is better than losing 3 in the league, a competition which they aren't going to win anyway? What a tit.

What the feck is he on about?

Besides the fact that you can't lose 3 times in a Cup; theres pretty much nothing worse than getting eliminated from 2 Cup competitions in under a week.

Deluded.
To be fair to him, he has just lost 3 times in the cups, lost twice to Southampton in the EFL Cup and to Wolves in the FA Cup. And you thought the Scouse were deluded :wenger:

Again to be fair to him, he did try in the EFL Cup. Got to the semi-finals and picked a reasonably strong team, just got outplayed by Southampton twice.

I would love it sooo much if we finished the season above Liverpool and with at least 1 trophy, preferably win the Mini-treble!
